Chapter 6 - First meeting

KEIFER – POV

By the time I reached back home, it was already dark. I tossed all the shopping bags onto the bed and collapsed beside them.

I don't know why, but I was feeling excited about tomorrow's meeting.

Suddenly, it struck me—I hardly knew anything about Davis White.

I opened my laptop and searched his name.

"Davis White… hmm."

Davis White, eldest son of Mr. Rick White, completed his studies in medical science at a top university. Currently serving as the CEO of White Pharma Inc., he is considered one of the youngest executives in the industry, having taken over the position at 24. Under his leadership, White Pharma has seen major success. Rumors say he's strictly business, hates having his time wasted, and has no known romantic ties—he's always focused on work.

"Hmmm… that means I'll need to keep everything concise and factual during the meeting."

---

The next morning, I woke up at 7 a.m. and was ready by 8. My meeting was scheduled around lunch, so I decided to head to my clinic shift nearby.

The job wasn't just about money—I was learning, too. The clinic used a mix of modern and ancient techniques, something I had a strong interest in.

I planned to leave by 12, but around 11, an accident patient was rushed in. He had blocked spinal nerves and a compressed vertebra, causing back pain and restricted lower body movement. I was the only staff member available at the time.

Without hesitation, I took him to the operating room.

First, I treated the external wounds to stop the bleeding. Then I began adjusting his spine using traditional techniques. The whole process took two intense, exhausting hours.

"Shoot—I'm going to be late!" I muttered, quickly handing post-op care instructions to the patient's companion before running off to change.

Luckily, the meeting location was close to the clinic, though I still ended up being ten minutes late.

---

At the reception, I asked politely, "Excuse me, I have a meeting scheduled with Mr. Davis White. My name is Keifer Samuel."

"Let me check," the receptionist said.

A moment passed.

"Ms. Samuel, you're late for your meeting. Mr. White is currently unavailable," she replied.

Seriously? Just ten minutes late and he's already canceled? I decided to try one more time.

"Could you please pass on a message to Mr. White? Let him know that our meeting was scheduled from 2 to 2:30. That means I still have over 15 minutes left. I'd appreciate just one chance. If he's not satisfied with my proposal, he can reject it, no questions asked."

She nodded, dialed a number, and spoke quietly for a few minutes.

Finally, she looked up.

"Ms. Samuel, Mr. White will see you now—but you only have 15 minutes," she said.

I nodded. "Thank you."

As I headed toward the meeting room, I mentally reviewed my pitch. Then I heard a voice call out behind me.

"Ms. Samuel!"

I turned, confused.

"Do I know you?" I asked.

"We met earlier at the clinic. I was with the patient. My name is Robert Pattinson," he replied.

"Oh! Yes, I remember now. Sorry—I'm really in a hurry. Can we talk later?"

Without waiting for an answer, I rushed toward the meeting room.

I stopped in front of the door, glancing at my watch.

Fifteen minutes. That's all the time I had to win him over.

I took a deep breath and knocked.

"Come in."

A man's voice answered from inside.

Something about that voice—husky, commanding, smooth—made my heart race.

It had an odd pull, like a gravity I couldn't resist. My pulse quickened as I reached for the doorknob.
