His eyes shut as he ran a hand through his hair. "No. I can't just—" He choked in his own voice. He couldn't imagine the danger she would be facing. And it was already killing him with worry. He had a fist over his mouth as he inhaled sharply for more strength to fight the fear in him.

"I'm begging you."
That made him snapped his head around to her direction again.
"Let me go save them." Tears fell to her cheeks as she tilted her head to meet his gaze. And that shattered him more.
He grazed her tears away with his thumb as he tried to steady the shivering of his jaw. His emotions were about to come to the surface. Then his hand moved to her neck. He brushed his thumb against the fresh mark on her skin. The mark he had given her. His claim. His mate.
The mark could only be seen by werewolves. It was like a tattoo, unique by individual.
