Chapter 30 - Lancelot (Berserker)

His name is Lancelot, a man who serves as a negative symbol from Arthurian legend. The "Knight of the Lake" is admired as the strongest even among the Knights of the Round Table. He is fiercely loyal to King Arthur as one of the Knights of the Round Table. Lancelot's decline began when he fell in love with the queen of Altria, Guinevere. It is said that the tragic love story of Diarmuid Ua Duibhne and Grainne was the model for the story of Guinevere and Lancelot.

He was originally born and raised in France. After losing his parents as a child, he was raised by the lake nymph Nimue and was nicknamed "Knight of the Lake".

He had heard rumors about the King of England. He believed the King of Knights in England was utter nonsense. He started to compare himself to the King of Knights until he finally decided to go to England to see the legendary king with his own eyes.

He met the King as soon as he arrived in England in the midst of battle. This made a deep impression on the King as he beheld the sight of a boy riding his horse, dashingly swinging his sword at the horde of attackers. This proved how wrong he was, the requirement to fight day and night was not physical attributes but rather one of firm faith. Lancelot fought alongside the King in that battle, and for his accomplishments he was honored to speak with him as a friend and invite him to Camelot as a guest. Before long, he began to desire a seat at the Round Table. He became a knight among the round tables and experienced many battles.

He had many famous exploits, once he disguised his name and disguised himself to enter a horse race in the honor of a friend. Even after falling into a trap and being forced to face an enemy's sword with nothing but his bare hands, he has proven victorious with his skilled fighting abilities using only an elm branch.

When Sir Tristan left the palace saying King Arthur doesn't understand how other people feel. It fueled his rage. Sir Lancelot wanted to lessen the burden on his King, a wish that Guinevere shared. They converse with each other and know each other as friends and rely on one another. It was then that Sir Lancelot took an interest in her. he learned the King's secret from her. Even though the king was actually a woman, she had married to maintain the "pretense" that she was a man and to keep the royal family's image stable. Guinevere is willing to sacrifice her own life as a woman in order to preserve this ideal of government.

When Lancelot and the queen began their affair, Lancelot considered fleeing Camelot with her, but his loyalty to Altria and his warrior spirit prevented him from doing so. When the king's political enemies found out about the affair, Agravain, working for Morgan le Fay, exposed the illicit relationship to the public. Queen ordered to be executed. Lancelot attempts to save him, killing several of his fellow knights including Gawain's brothers, Gareth and Gaheris, in the process.

Lancelot is considered the perfect knight. Guinevere, the queen who had made her lover (Lancelot) betray his duties, and Altria, the king who blamed herself for Lancelot's despair, all suffer the consequences of Lancelot's resulting downfall. Although Altria forgave Lancelot's actions, Gawain still harbors great hatred towards Lancelot because of his betrayal and the death of his brother.

His disloyalty toppled the balance between the Knights of the Round Table. This incident eventually became the trigger for civil war and massacres, and the country fell to pieces in the flames of war. Lancelot, even after being excommunicated, wanted to participate in the Battle of Camlann to serve his King but Gawain cruelly refused, resulting in the downfall of the King and his country. When Lancelot heard the news about the death of his King, Lancelot sank into despair and started going crazy. Thus, when he became a Heroic Spirit, he was summoned as a Berserker.

He was a formidable man fully clothed in dark black armor and a rugged helmet with thinly carved slits showing the glow of his terrifying eyes.

During life, he was the ideal incarnation who embodied the true face of a "knight." Having lost his esteemed dignity in the past, he had completely changed due to his madness. Mad Enhancement and his rage had corroded him in his pitch-black form. He had a blackened face, the face of a living dead person who had lost everything to a curse. He had a beautiful face capable of attracting the admiration of many women, but his hatred had made him as thin and pale as a ghost. The only part of his body that was full of light were his eyes that were filled with hatred. He maintains his normal appearance even though he is not under the effects of Mad Enhancement.

Because for someone's glory, the symbol of his armor is hidden. It shows no ornamentation or polished shine like Arthur's or Gilgamesh's. It made him look like a "shadow", a bottomless black darkness like Hell. Once the ability is removed, the armor is easily recognizable as Lancelot.

"I am the exiled, the one who is mocked, the one who is despised. There is no need to praise my name. There is no need to envy my body. I am the shadow under the radiance of heroic spirits. Born from the darkness of glorious legends. So, I hate, I hate. Nurtured by the sighs of those precipitated in darkness, those who cursed the light. This is my disgrace. Because of his blameless glory, I should be despised forever. You are a sacrifice. Good, give me more, your flesh and blood, your life. Let them igniting my hatred!!"

-Berserk to Kariya

As a Berserker, his mind is under the influence of Mad Enhancement, which limits his rationality and thinking abilities. He released nothing but killing intent and a thirst for blood, his deep hatred still radiating from him that he could easily sense it even when he was hidden. He was able to fight proficiently due to his martial prowess, and he displayed the ability to recognize that Diarmuid had been ordered to aid him and take him as an ally in no time. He still acknowledges his King, instantly going mad at him and refusing all orders to go against him.

Lancelot was known to have extreme loyalty to the King during his life as one of the people he considered as a friend. He believed, even after their armies clashed, that their hearts should remain the same, as a subject defending the knight's path and a king defending the warrior's path. Altria was shocked by his ability to be summoned as a Berserker, that he who was the subject of people's admiration could be reduced to such a thing.

In a way, he could be said to be a victim of Altria's ideals. He believed that the root came from him hiding her gender. Seeking punishment for his actions, he is pardoned by the person he most admires. The misery he felt from that simple action was overwhelming to him.

Berserker summoned by Kariya Matou in the 4th Holy Grail War. Zouken Matou, deciding that Kariya lacked talent as a Mage, forced him to summon the most powerful Servant of the seventh class, the Berserker. Until his identity was revealed, he was known only as the Black Knight.

During the first battle between the Servants, Diarmuid attacks Altria with Gáe Buidhe and tries to finish him off, but their fight is interrupted by Iskandar. In the ensuing chaos, both Gilgamesh and Lancelot arrive and engage each other in battle. They even matched, with one of the 2 guns fired by Gate of Babylon caught and used effectively by Lancelot to deflect the other weapon fired at him. (There has been speculation that what was fired at Lancelot was a Vajra, some say Durandal)

Gil is forced by his Master to retreat, but Kariya, unable to control his Servant, is unable to order Lancelot to retreat. As a result Lancelot turned his attention to the injured Altria, but was stopped by Diarmuid's distraction. Lancer's master, Lord Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi, decided that Altria was the bigger threat, and used CS to force Diarmuid to help Lancelot. This order was disrupted when Iskandar intervened, attacking the Berserkers from behind and threatening them by cooperating with Altria. Both Lancelot and Diarmuid withdrew immediately.

During the battle against Caster, Lancelot takes over an F-15 jet to use as his NP, and engages Gilgamesh in aerial combat on his Master's orders. Their fight is left unresolved when Lancelot looks at Artroia, and ignores Gilgamesh. He is defeated when Gilgamesh attacks him from behind with a barrage of Noble Phantasms. His master, Kariya, was also defeated against Tohsaka Tokiomi.

Lancelot is next sent to kidnap Irisviel von Einzbern, to fulfill Kariya's order after a bargain with Kirei Kotomine. He uses his ability to mimic Iskandar's form, effectively fooling Artroia and his Master into going after the wrong Servant. Altria ended up fighting the real Iskandar in battle, allowing Lancelot to deliver Irisviel safely to his Master.

On the last day of the 4th Holy Grail War, Lancelot fights Altria using a light machine gun as his NP (in the anime he uses a Sniper rifle and a Sub-machine gun). He manages to disarm and damage his armor, but his fatal attack is stopped when Lancelot swiftly caught Altria's sword with her bare hands. Altria finally realizes that she is Lancelot due to having knowledge of the form and length of Excalibur despite being invisible and when Lancelot draws his own sword, Arondight, his helmet shatters to reveal its face.

Driven by guilt about how she had contributed to his downfall in life, Altria lost her will to fight, and was brutally attacked by Lancelot. She parried one last strike from Lancelot, guessing the next one would be the fatal one. By the time of his final attack, the Berserker Master, Kariya, had completely run out of mana, which then cut off the Berserker's source of power. Taking advantage of this situation, Altria aimed Excalibur at Lancelot's body. She tearfully tells him that she wants to win the Holy Grail to make up for her past mistakes, including her role in Lancelot's death.

After regaining his sanity, Lancelot admits that he hopes Altria punishes him for his crimes, and demands that he be put to death. Instead, her willingness to forgive him made it impossible for him to forgive himself. Lancelot collapsed into Altria's arms, complaining that in the end, he would die in his king's bosom, like a loyal and just knight. Unable to maintain his physical form any longer, Lancelot faded and was the fifth Servant to die in the Fourth Grail War.

"You are the best among kings. All who serve you… believe so."

-Lancelot's last comments to Altria

He was born with various abilities that made him famous as the strongest of the Knights of the Round Table. Not only "high spec", he was even categorized as too OP, showing fighting prowess many times greater than King Arthur and the ability to survive against Gawain (under the sun form) until killing him at nightfall. Because he often fell into madness in the incidents involving Guinevere, he had the compatibility of being the Berserker class.

He had an extremely high mana consumption rate as a Berserker, thus placing a great deal of pressure on Kariya. This caused Kariya to come closer to death when Lancelot fought.

In Orleans, he allied himself with Jeanne Alter and Gilles. Sanson and Lancelot team up against Ritsuka Fujimaru, Mashu Kyrielight, Mozart, Jeanne and Marie Antoinette. His attack was parried by Mashu. When ordered to stand down, he ignored the order and specifically targeted Jeanne because he considered her to be King Arthur. When he was defeated, he summoned king Arthur and stated that he was pleased with such an outcome. At Salomon, Lancelot along with other Servants from Orleans help Chaldea fight the Demon God Navelius.

For NP gain, the best chain is ABQEx. With NP charge atk 0.5%, NP gain up to 100% at skill 3 level 10, assuming neither crit nor overkill, so:

Art + Buster + Quick + Extra

= 8% + 1% + 6% + 6%

= 21%

See? With skill 3 it's still dragging, even if you get crit it's also dragging, especially if you don't use it

For stargen, the best chain is ABQEx. With 5% stargen, 30% stargen up from skill 2 level 10, Buster up 6% from passive skill, assuming neither crit nor overkill, it will be:

Art + Buster + Quick + Extra

= 70% + 50.9% + 430% + 405%

= (0 stars and 70% for 1 star) + (0 stars and 50.9% for 1 star) + (4 stars and 30% for 5 stars) + (4 stars and 5% for 5 stars)

= 8~12 stars

If you use NP, the good NPAQEx chain will be:

NP(assuming the number of enemies is still 3) + Art + Quick + Extra

= 3(1150%) + 110% + 470% + 465%

= 3(11 star 50% for 12 star) + (1 star and 10% for 2 star) + (4 star and 70% for 5 star) + (4 star and 65% for 5 star)

= (34 stars and 50% for 35 stars) + (1 star and 10% for 2 stars) + (4 stars and 70% for 5 stars) + (4 stars and 65% for 5 stars)

= 43~47 stars

Since he can Buster Brave Chain, I want to crit with him all. Atk stat at level 80 is 11477 (already 1000 Fou), Buster up 6% of passive skill, assume skill 10/10/10, there is crit dmg up 50% from skill 3, base multiplier 1.1x and 1.5x multiplier to all classes, so:

Busters + Busters + Busters

= 29604.52 + 33759.69 + 37914.85

This is Lancelot's added value, his crit is one of the highest in this game. If in the previous turn he was NP, he has an atk up, so the crit is even spicier.

NOBLE PHANTASM

1. Knight of Owner - A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands

Rating: A+

Classification: Anti-unit

Type: Quick

Hit-Count: 10

Ranges: 1

Maximum number of targets: 30 people

Effect: Deals damage (NP1 600%) to all enemies.

Overcharge Effect: Increases own attack (10~30% depending on OC) for 3 turns [This effect activates first.]

"Hooooooo!!"

"Arrrthurrrrrrr!!"

—Berserkers

Knight of Owner: A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands is a skill which is the embodiment of the incident where Lancelot was forced to fight Phelot unarmed and prove it by winning using an elm tree branch. As soon as a Berserker touches anything that can be used as a weapon and he wants to use it, he immediately gains the right to "become his NP." Even control over other Servants' NPs would be instantaneous if he gripped them. It can only be activated for items he deems capable of being used as a weapon, so he can use the steel chair if needed. He couldn't use an aircraft, because his role as a weapon transportation was higher than that as a weapon. It will be locked together with For Someone's Glory once Arondight is used.

This ability allows something as worthless as a piece of scrap metal to become a spear or sword capable of injuring Servants and countering legendary weapons. He can use weaponry regardless of how it was created or its origin, allowing him to control anything from legendary weapons to modern guns and machines. He has also shown the potential to corrupt more abstract weapons such as the Invisible Air, which is closer to magecraft than true weapons. The ability to stain items that are affected by mana, makes it full of negative energy.

Its power is great enough that it can easily clash with Excalibur repeatedly though normally normal items would cut like butter in the face of an NP, and modern NP-turned weapons will be strengthened and have modified abilities. The weapon will remain under control even if it is released for a few moments from its touch, so it can be used as a deadly projectile. When faced with a direct contra to his skills, like Gáe Dearg who can repel Berserkers and return the NP to normal again.

Common objects he touches will become D-Rank Noble Phantasms, and if he picks up another NP Servant that already has a rank, his rank will remain the same. This skill is a counter for GoB, who can utilize a large number of projectile-type NPs. The Berserker can freely capture and use the weapon he shoots and use it to fend off gun fire that can completely destroy the surrounding area. He freely grasped swords, spears, battle axes, while not receiving any scratches.

Berserkers are able to use the shattered parts of street lampposts as weapons. More than two meters long, he held it in two hands like a quarterstaff and delivered a powerful attack that propelled Altria back and engaged Excalibur. Even though his attacks were as crude as those of wild beasts, his natural skill allowed for accurate and precise strikes. After being sliced open by Diarmuid, he took the remaining half and prepared to use it like a longsword before their battle was stopped. During Interlude in FGO, he can use various sticks and even use disposable chopsticks.

The Berserker also uses the two light machine guns (rifle & sub-machinegun) given to him by Kirei Kotomine against Altria. Lancelot, turning them into Noble Phantasms, made them into powerful magecraft military equipment. Upgrading them to the Noble Phantasm category revealed the difference in power between "sword" and "firearm" type weapons, making it difficult to attack.

Bullets, which are "soaked" in their mana, are lethal to Servants. Bullets that travel faster than the speed of sound cannot exceed the speed of a Servant's weapon, but the rate of fire makes them only able to defend and parry. The bullet's power was extremely destructive compared to normal, tearing large holes in cement and turning trucks into metal plates in an instant. After taking the machine gun from the F-15, he immediately put it to use. Because they were so close, even Altria couldn't anticipate his initial speed.

The Berserker took control of the F-15J by standing over him and sinking tassels into his armor, gripping it like the legendary dragon rider. The two meter tall jet was corroded by his mana into a terrifying shape. Although the pilot was still in the cockpit, the Berserker was in full control of his arsenal, which included four AIM-7F/M Sparrows, four AIM-9 Sidewinders, 940 rounds for the Vlcan Malib 20mm automatic cannon capable of firing 12,000 rounds per minute, and a flare designed to to block the approaching missiles. Using it in a dogfight against Gilgamesh's Vimana, which transcends the laws of physics, he performs stunts like Immelmann turns, dives full vertical, and dodges against numerous missiles from the GoB. To calculate NP damage, we collect data first. His stats at level 80 are 11477 (already 1000 Fou), NP1 multiplier 600%, atk up 10%-30%(depends on OC) of NP, he generates NP damage around 22997.15~27178.45/enemy. Can't kill hands at Chaldea gate in 1 shot.

If you use Bond CE, there is an NP dmg up to 30%, so it's around 29,896.30~35,331.99/enemy. So tall.

2. For Someone's Glory - Not For One's Own Glory

Type: Anti-Unit

Rating: B

Range: 0

Maximum number of targets: 1 person

For Someone's Glory - Not For One's Own Glory is a black mist that manifests from the story of Lancelot to win the competition by disguising his name and himself to enter horse races for the sake of his friends. Combined with his armor, which completely covered his body, this ability concealed the Berserker's personal identity and status. Its body was enveloped in a black mist with properties similar to Invisible Air. The illusion of mist also caused his image to become random in the eyes of others, making it appear like he was hallucinating, and prevented the use of Clairvoyance to read Berserker statuses.

The true use of this skill is to trick the eyes and ears of others by allowing Lancelot to assume the form of another Heroic Spirit, but be demoted to a kind of clone who can only disguise his identity due to Mad Enhancement. The ability used to take Iskandar's appearance makes Altria believe that Iskandar kidnapped Irisviel von Einzbern. The appearance is identical, only the glasses are different. This ability was completely sealed with the Knight of Owner so Arondight was used by Berserker.

3. Arondight - The Unfading Light of the Lake

Type: Anti-Unit

Rating: A++

Range: 1~2

Maximum number of targets: 1 person

Arondight: The Unfading Light of the Lake is the holy sword wielded by Lancelot, who is the "brother" of Excalibur. It has a similar design to Excalibur, engraved with Fairy Letters to show that it is a Divine Construct that was not forged by living things. An infinite sword that could take hits without taking damage, that shone like the water in a lake. It was only given to someone who could be glorified as a "true knight", the strongest, bravest and righteous knight of an era, marking Lancelot unmatched among all those who sat at the Camelot Round Table. The sword had lost its status as a holy sword after Lancelot used it to kill several of his favorite knights who were acting as guards for Guinevere's execution. His mana, filled with madness and hatred, had blackened the blade and turned into a demonic sword. This is Lancelot's NP, which seals For Someone's Glory and Knight of Owner skills when used. It increases all of its parameters by one rank. Due to the legend where Lancelot slays the dragon, Arondight deals extra damage to Heroic Spirits like Altria who have the dragon attribute (but not applied in game).

ACTIVE SKILLS

1. Eternal Arms Mastership

Rating: A+

Effect: Increases own critical star absorption (6000% at level 10) for 3 turns.

Cooldown : 7/6/5

Eternal Arms Mastership prevents the decline of combat skills even when under the influence of mental disorders. Expertise in combat arts to the point where it was said to be unrivaled in an era. With the complete amalgamation of mind, body and technique, it is possible for him to make full use of his fighting skills even when under the influence of a mental disturbance, Mad Enhancement for example. In terms of gameplay, this skill clearly indicates that he is a monster, imagine trying 6000% (star absorption becomes around 600), that means he will suck out almost all the stars! His crit dmg is also cool considering he can Buster Brave Chain.

2. Protection of the Faeries

Rank: A

Effect: Increases own critical star generation rate (30% at level 10) for 3 turns.

Cooldowns: 7/6/5

Protection of the Fairies was a blessing from the Elementals, increasing one's luck in dangerous situations. Activation is limited to the battlefield, where it is possible to suddenly become proficient in weapons. For gameplay, it is useful in the process of generating stars.

3. Reverse Flow of Mana

Rank: A

Effect: Self NP Gain Up (100% at level 10) for 1 turn + Self Critical Damage Up (50% at level 10) for 3 turns.

Cooldowns: 7/6/5

Useful for supporting NP gain (although it's still bad) and increasing crit dmg.

PASSIVE SKILLS

1. Magic Resistance

Rank: E

Effect: Increases unit's resistance to debuffs by 10%

Cannot cancel spells, but damage from magic is slightly reduced. Lancelot has a talisman ring that resists magical energy with D-Rank Magic Resist, but his rank drops due to Mad Enhancement.

2. Mad Enhancement

Rank: C

Effect: Increases damage of unit's Buster cards by 6%

Rank ups for all parameters except Luck and Mana, but in exchange, he could no longer think and speak properly.

Advantages

For SR sizes, the attack stats are relatively high

High crit dmg

One of the many NPs that produce a lot of stars

Star absorb monsters thanks to skill 2

Balanced stats

Disadvantages

NP gain is one of the worst and still needs another star generator so it can suck up

He's a Berserker but there's no skill to survive

He needs support to overcome NP gain and stargen (outside NP) like that

Conclusion

Overall, he's a good hitter, with 3 Buster cards and a class as a berserker, plus the stats that are relatively high among SRs, he can hit like a truck. But on the other hand, he needs a star generator, we can't expect more from his NP because the NP gain is rotten (although if he was NP in the previous turn, you can be sure that in the next turn he will go crazy).
