"You're pretty quiet now, Night," Barty Junior spoke again, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"What happened? Has the cat got your tongue? Or have you finally realized the gravity of the situation you're in?" he asked, looking at me with sadistic glee as he waited for me to get worried or nervous.

But unfortunately for him his mocking question wasn't very effective, and I continued to look at him calmly.

"Oh no, I actually was silent because I was impressed with how meticulous and careful you were with your plans," I replied, waving my hand in a casual manner.

And with that answer Barty Junior nodded, "Well, thank you. Sometimes I too—" he started to speak, only to be interrupted by me for the third time, much to his irritation.

"But you know," I continued, "Unfortunately for you, all these plans are useless... You won't be able to make Harry reach the cup before me, and you won't complete the special mission given to you by your master."

And as soon as I said that Barty Junior felt his mind go blank for a moment, trying to process my words.

And after a few seconds of silence, Barty Junior finally came out of his dazed state, looking at me as if I was an abnormal being.

'How the hell does he know that too?!' he wondered, realizing for the first time that perhaps things weren't so much under his control.

And he couldn't understand how I knew about his master's involvement in this tournament, something that should have been his biggest secret.

'This kid... He really is dangerous' he frowned, looking at me cautiously.

And seeing Barty Junior's silence I smiled maliciously, realizing that I had managed to wipe that despicable and irritating smile off his face.

"You're pretty quiet now, Barty. What's wrong? Has the cat got your tongue?" I asked, repeating his sentence with a totally smug look on my face.

And hearing my mockery he felt irritation rise within him, but he quickly calmed down, knowing that losing control of his emotions in this situation could be a fatal mistake.

"You seem to know a lot of things, Night..." he said, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Nah, I know just enough to stop you from completing whatever you and your noseless master have planned," I said, waving my wand lightly in warning.

"...I see," Barty Junior muttered, dropping his casual tone and looking at me more seriously, "In that case, then I think it's time we end our conversation here."

"Well, for the first time I find myself agreeing with you," I said as I nodded.

After that I dropped my playful attitude as well, looking seriously at Barty as I got into a fighting stance.

I then turned to stand on my side, lightly holding my wand as I pointed it downwards, controlling my breathing while maintaining focus.

And Barty also prepared himself for the fight, taking his wand and holding it at chest height.

After we got into combat stance, we both stared at each other, analyzing the situation and waiting for someone to make the first move.

And as I looked at Barty Junior, paying attention to even his smallest movements and gestures, I noticed that his posture didn't seem entirely correct, as if he wasn't used to using it.

'Strange' I thought as I narrowed my eyes, keeping this information in the back of my mind

I then went back to focusing on the fight, and I did so at just the right moment, as Barty Junior got tired of waiting and decided to go on the offensive, immediately casting a spell at me.

"{Avada Kedavra}!" and the first attack he cast on me was the Killing Curse, showing that he wasn't holding back.

And I, who had been expecting his attack since the moment I saw the muscle in his wand arm twitch, easily dodged the spell by jumping to the side.

"Heh, looks like you're not playing around anymore," I said, looking at the burned area on the ground where the Killing Curse had hit, feeling the vile magic of the spell still in the air.

"I've underestimated you enough, boy, and I won't repeat that mistake again," he said, looking at me with a deadly glare.

And hearing this I smiled coldly, "Great, maybe this way you can survive for more than a few seconds."

And instead of saying anything, Barty Junior just narrowed his eyes, before continuing his attack.

"{Bombarda Maxima}!" he exclaimed.

"{Protego Absor}" I protected myself from this explosive spell, using a shield that absorbed its impact.

And after protecting myself I decided to get off the defensive and started attacking him as well, "{Depulso}! {Glacius}!"

"{Protego}" and this time it was Barty Junior's turn to defend himself.

And then the two of us entered into a fierce and dangerous battle, with him casting several dark spells at me while I responded with equally dangerous spells.

"{Diffindo}! {Flipendo}! {Sectumsempra}!" I cast a sequence of spells.

And seeing these various attacks coming towards him, Barty Junior once again cast a {Protego} to defend himself.

However, he was not expecting that the spell created by Professor Snape would be more powerful than his shield, which gave way after containing two-thirds of the spell's magic.

"Argh," he grunted in pain, immediately placing his hand on the cut that the {Sectumsempra} spell made on his thigh.

And looking down Barty Junior saw his blood starting to stain his clothes and his hand.

'Damn, that spell was a dark curse' he cursed mentally, feeling a slight numbness take over his leg.

And Barty Junior realized too late that he should have dodged my spells instead of trying to defend himself from them.

But luckily for him, my spell grazed him and wasn't at full power, otherwise he wouldn't be able to use that leg anymore.

"Looks like I'm not the only one who isn't playing around anymore," he said to me, grimacing in pain as he cast healing spells on his leg, trying to stop the bleeding and close the cut.

"Well, I don't see the point in playing around with a dead man anymore," I said, shrugging calmly.

And I didn't try to stop him from healing because I knew that what he was doing was practically useless, since injuries caused by dark magic could only be healed with specific healing spells or proper medical care.

And after hearing my arrogant words, Barty Junior snorted coldly, "You speak as if you have already won the fight."

"And you speak as if you have any chance of defeating me, especially in this state," I retorted.

"Don't underestimate me, Night. I'm not one of the Dark Lord's top death eaters for nothing," he said, "And besides, my mission here is not to defeat you, but to delay you."

"That's obvious," I rolled my eyes, "But you don't have the power to stop me from leaving here."

"Perhabs that is true," Barty Junior nodded, "However, it seems you have forgotten that we are not alone in this maze."

And hearing this I paused for a moment, and before I could ask what he meant by that he took something out of his pocket, before quickly throwing it at me.

Looking at this something I realized that what he threw at me was actually a small leather bag, and acting on instinct I cast a spell to destroy it.

And as soon as my spell hit this little bag it exploded, releasing its contents which was a fluorescent purple powder with a strong and disgusting odor.

And not wanting to be hit by this unknown powder I took a step back, shaking my hand and wandlessly casting a wind spell, which pushed this powder away from me and spread it throughout this area of the maze.

"What the f--!" I started to say, before I felt the ground start to shake.

And realizing that there was something strange going on I focused on my senses, and when I did so I felt several non-human magical signatures around me.

And feeling these magics I immediately understood what was happening.

'Damn it, the creatures from the maze!' I cursed, realizing that I had been so focused on Barty Junior that I had forgotten about the wave of magical creatures that was coming towards me.

But I knew it was too late to think about that now, as the creatures were already less than 25 meters away from me, running quickly towards the area I was in.

I then prepared myself to face these creatures, and at that moment I felt their anger, madness, ferocity and other turbulent emotions with my empathy.

'What happened to make these creatures so angry?' I wondered, frowning in confusion.

"Hehehe" I then heard Barty Junior laughing, causing my attention to turn to him, "You shouldn't have destroyed that bag" he said in cruel smile.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

But instead of answering me, Barty Junior asked his own questions, "Have you ever wondered why you encountered so many magical creatures since you entered the maze, even though it was huge?"

"Haven't you thought about why the creatures are walking and attacking in packs instead of killing each other like they normally would?"

"Did you not find it strange the fury and savagery that creatures, even the calmest ones, showed upon seeing you?"

And after hearing these questions from Barty Junior I grimaced, understanding the insinuations behind them.

'So he really was the one who did something to the magical creatures in the maze' I thought, confirming what I already suspected.

End.
