Earth, 1994
After the nightmare that happened a hundred years ago, many countries lost their people because of that disaster. Knowing if they could not defend the country anymore, some of the leader from those country choose to run away from their comfortable nest that make them lives longer than those people who lives in the remote village. They run to the other country that would accept them, abandoning their people for their own safety. Until, a few years later, in 1890. Those abandoned people begin to migrate looking for strong country that could make them feeling comfortable and save at the same time, looking for the new leader that would accept and fight along side to side. This cycle of abandoning and finding a new one happened for almost a hundred years, making the 35 countries shrink-ed into four big countries. These four big countries survived by supporting each other to destroy their enemy, those countries are Mechoudan, Obron, Driotan and Eprynia. Those Vampires that living in the dark slowly killed by the humankind, they have makes their own power to fight against Vampire. The Vampire that likes to haunts human when the night comes being haunted by their own pray. People who can fight a Vampire called as Hunter. As the time flied, People who only can hide in their save house when the night comes began to come outside the house and play with their children. There is no fear on their face because of those strong hunters protecting them from those bloodthirsty creatures. Until 1994, the creature that become the nightmare for humankind never shown up as if they had been erased from the existence. They will hide their self when they meet human instead of sucking their blood. The Vampire tries to survive by only drinking from animal's blood, they began to live in the dark, lives among the society, lives as the human to survive from being haunted by the hunter.
In Eprynia near Kalasta mountain.
In remote place in Eprynia country, there is big mansion standing magnificent under the feet of great Kalasta mountain. The owner of this mansion is handsome-tall man which is also become the richest man in the Eprynia, he was the one that give a biggest support for Eprynia country on surviving through the calamity. He was the one helping the government behind the scene. every time he support the country he never shows his face in public, either it material or substantial support. He is Caderyn Von-Dwerva or for people who knew him, called him Cade.
Cade was a former of hunter, the first hunter that comes to help the humanity fighting against the Vampire. He lives for more than 100 years, he still look as young as a man at their youth age. For him to be able to stay youth and never getting old is because he is Vampire. Cade lives with his maid that has served him for more than hundred years. She used to be human, but as she has strong will to serve Cade make her asked Cade to turned her to become a Vampire. Cade never wished from the first place making his maid to serve him for long time, she left everything she had for only to lives with Cade, her family, her humanity and her resistance being stinged by the sun. She is Amelia Rose De Vernon, she was a little girl that Cade helped a long time ago (little girl at the prologue), she has grown to be a mature beautiful woman as beautiful as rainbow appearing after the rainstorm. If we turned back to the past, how Rose ended on serving Cade as his maid was happened in 1894, Rose has been saved by Cade for more than twice. It makes her decide to dream if one day when she has grown become a mature girl, she will roam around the world to find Cade.
It was cheerful afternoon; the four alliance country has not been formed yet. People were still migrating to find their new home. It was in Amiro village, Rose was staying there waiting for the sun rises in order to continue her journey to find her savior by gathering any information about the hunter that killed vampire in the dark night, she slept in the small inn that people in the village prepared for those who want to take a rest in the village. She slept holding a rusty necklace on her hand. As for her, holding that necklace while she sleeps means by hoping to have a nice-sweet dream. It has become a charm for her, it always accompanies her wherever she goes, she never ever forgets about this necklace. Every time she hold that necklace, she felt save as if someone has protecting her from long distance. And for now, this nickel makes her feeling the comfortable night. She was in her deep sleep, having a sweet-beautiful dream. Every night when she slept while held the necklace, there was a man who always comes in her dream, that man was a handsome man that has black gleamingly-smooth-short hair, with his strawberry-color-soft lips. Rose could not describe how man look in real, what she saw only his mouth and short hair, his eyes blurred as if there was something covering it up, it does not matter for her as long as that man being nice to her, she will accept it. Therefore, she lives in two different world, reality and dream. Every night she went sleep Rose made her own story through her dream, first meeting, approaching to each other, fall in love, kissing and living together. Rose has done something that she could not do in his real life. Until, she cannot make a difference between a dream and the reality. When she was sleeping in the inn, she dreamed if she was standing behind the window in her large-luxurious bedroom looking at the beautiful garden that the man in her dream made for her. She really lives like a princess who being treated well by her king, she enjoy it to the highest point of attainable. However, that was only a dream for her, until someone came knocking her inn door.
"knock..knock...knock"
She could hear it, the sound of knock on door, but she could not open her eyes. She does not know if that sound was come from outside his inn's room. Because, what she heard are same, in her dream the man that she loved was knocking on the door. She really could not make a difference between the reality and dream. She opened the door in her dream to meet the man that she lives with instead of opening the door in reality. She began to ignore the reality, until the second sound of knock on door came.
"knock...knock...knock"
Rose felt strange; the sound of knocking door was become more and more realistic than a dream. She has opened the door's that the man in her dream knock on, but the sound still coming. She begin to realize if that sound was come from reality. She tried to wake up from her dream but the man in her dream held her hand, asking her to stay more as if he does not want Rose left him alone, she knew it without knowing how his eyes looked, but that strawberry-color-soft lips describe what the man felt. As for Rose being alone roaming around the world, she melted seeing a handsome man who begs for her for staying together and ignoring the reality. However, the sound of the knock on door keep coming, this time it sound louder than before
"knock...knock...knock...knock...knock"
Rose realize it, she was in her dream. She could not stay here anymore, she wants to wake up and continue her journey to find the real man that she wants to lives with. Rose tried to let go the man's holding hand, she closed her eyes and woke up from his beautiful dream. She gets up from the bed and said
"Yes, wait please"
She went to the wardrobe looking for her clothes and wears it. After that, she looked for her weapon that she always brings with her for the safety purpose. That was a small dagger that was given by his father. She could not trust anyone in this world, every people in this era tried to use any means in order to survive from the nightmare the haunt them. She walked slowly to the door with the dagger hiding behind her back, she asked the person who knocks her door.
"Hello, who's there?"
She gripped the dagger's handle tightly as if she ready to stab the person who knock on the door. She also did not forget to hold the necklace on her other hand. The person who knocks on the door answered.
"it's me Antonio, the owner of the inn. I came here to bring you your dinner"
When she looked at her watches, she dazed. The time on her watch and the time on the clock's inn are different. The clock tells her if it still 08:30 PM, while her watches tell her if that was in middle night 00:30 AM. She started to feels something wrong about the inn, but for her who has travelled since she was 20 years old make her understands how to examine the situation and took an act. She took a deep breath and kept her mind calm and said
"You may placed it in front of the door, I will take it later, I still feel a bit tired from walking before"
said Rose carefully, she tried to examine the situation, by asking Antonio to placed the dinner in front of the room's door. It is the save way to examine the situation without opened the door and directly meet him.
"But, there is many cat walk around the inn, they will eat you dinner if you did not take it in"
She doomed, she tried to think another excuse anymore. But if she did it, what if the owner of the inn really gives her real dinner that will only make the owner feel upset. She really does not know how to distinguish people means. She held tight the necklace and thought for what any possibilities circumstance will happen when she opens the door. She could not think calmly anymore, she grab the door's handle and opens the door a little bit, Antonio was standing in front of her with a portion of club sandwich in his hand, but Rose still did not want to open the door widely.
"Here is your dinner" smiling Antonio
It was true, that was him, the 46 years old-like man, with his two pair black underneath bag eyes that telling her if he was staying up over nights to serve his costumer, although tonight Rose was the only one who rent the room. She felt a bit relief as what she has worried has not happened yet, but for her, she was still cautious. She took the dinner with her smile on her face, and saying thank to the Antonio, with her dagger has been ready in her hand behind the door that she hides in order to pierce through Antonio neck if something awful may happens. When she thought those possibilities, she felt a bit sorry. Seeing Antonio just walked away after delivering the dinner, she looked that Antonio direction, she sure if Antonio just an ordinary-kind of inn's owner who love to server his costumer. She smiled, and get in to her room, she took the dinner food on her table and placed her dagger under the pillow with her precious necklace
"fiuhhh, i am sorry, and thank for the meal"
Said Rose to herself, she sat on the small wooden chair that provided by the inn and began to dine. She took one pieces of the club sandwich that still look fresh as fresh as the vegetables that just being harvested by the old farmer that living lovely in the small village. She enjoyed eat the first sandwich that has gone into her throat and want to eat another pieces of sandwich. When she took another one, someone was knocking on the door. It was Antonio, this time he said something instead of only knocking.
"It's me Antonio, I forgot to give your hot chocolate"
After knowing if that was Antonio that she thought only an ordinary-kind of inn's owner. Without a doubt, she walked to open the door without being cautious as before, without bring her dagger to protect herself and without holding the necklace to comfort her mind. She opens the door, with her eyes closed and big smile showed. When she opened her eyes and want to say thank to Antonio, she saw if there are 6 people with him, those people bring a rope, blunt weapon and sack. Rose who has much experience on adventuring, her sense of being adventure told her to step back and took the dagger. She closed the door and rushed to find her dagger, she forgot where she put the dagger and the necklace on, she should not put way that necklace that make her comfort her mind. When she tried to look for those precious things for her, Antonio and other man smashed the door with his leg. He looked at where the Rose stand and look into her hand. Rose has hold her dagger on her right hand and the necklace on the left.
"stay back, I knew it. do not move"
With the necklace with her, seeing something wrong with those people, she prevents by stepping back, holding the dagger with her right hand and aiming it to the front wherein Antonio and the other man stand. She was afraid when she saw something wrong with those man and their weapon. However, she had her necklace, calming her mind and thinking about any further possibilities.
"Wow, don't be aggressive you young girl"
"we just want to play with you, just stay quite and put the dagger on the table"
Said Antonio with his evil-like smile, smirking as if it looks like a beast that ready to catch it prey. His eyes were brown in the middle and bloodshot everywhere else as if he just gets drunk, glaring through Rose direction looked at a place somewhere over her shoulder. He glance flickered to the man that came with him as if he gave a command to those people to do what they have to. Rose saw it, the man gave some hidden command through their eyes contact just now, she took a step back and set her stance like a professional martial artist that will blow her enemy when the battle began. That was a beautiful and strong posture she shows, as if it telling us if she will win for sure. She took a look at those people location first, with Antonio stood at the entrance of the room with one person behind him who will guard Antonio, if Rose tried to attack him directly, while the other people already come it to her room. The worst situation may happen if something she makes a wrong move was those people will come ganged her from two direction. However, as the adventure who roams for almost 8 years in this cruel world, it will not stop her for beating that old psychopath with his savage and deformed slaves.
"Alright, let's play"
With that said, Rose rushed to those man direction with his dagger that ready to cut through their neck making them screamed as loud as they can as if sounds like a pig was being burned alive. She has reach the first man ranged, that man was standing in her room. She was ready with her dagger swinging as if it likes a bird-of-paradise soared into the blue sky. Those people who are in the same place as her amazed by Rose's movement, they did not realize if that movement was beautiful but deadly. The swing was heading toward the neck one of mans who were in her room. In blink of an eye, the first out of sixth targets has been down. Those people woke up from their daydream, they ashamed for having to ignore their situation because of seeing the beautiful movement and end up losing one of their man.
"What!!!..."
"Catch her now!!!!!!" said Antonio.
Three mans who stood in her room began to takes action, one on her left side holding a blunt weapon, then other one behind him with a sack potatoes on his hand and the last was in her right side holding a rope in the right side. All of them tried to catch Rose alive. Rose took a step back, she intend to make some distance. However, because of they were close to each other and the room could not hold more than 3 people, Rose only could take 1 step back. She tried to took down a man that bring a rope on her right side. She has small body that make her moved freely in the not-wide room. She swung the dagger like before, that man who held the rope noticed it, if he has been targeted by the deadly dagger, he tried to dodge that swung by hunkering his body down and doing a counterattack by sending a punch aiming to Rose's lower body. His strong grasp looked as strong as a lump of clay that recently was being taken out from fire's furnaces. It certainly will toss away a small body of a girl that has weight of 46kg.
"It won't be work again, little girl"
That man lent his punch making Rose's tossed away from the place in which place she stood before. However, Rose did not collapse because of that punch, she blocked it. While that man was targeting her lower body, Rose avoid it by using her kneel and making that man feel a bit pain in his arm.
"Awww, shit. This girl has some skill, careful" said the man who lent a punch.
The man felt it, punching on something that hard enough to gives him a pain. Trying to be cautious and telling his friend about it, but his friend seem did not take a note of that warn. Yes, that was some foolish mind, after seeing one of his friends died from a young girl, suddenly turned blind ignoring it just because she was a young girl. However, in this era, when human had to use any means to survives, losing one of their friends for taking a further step will not be a problem. Making people ignored the meaning of losing someone you know.
"hahaha, it is only a girl, what so hard about knocking out a girl with only a dagger on her" said the man who held a sack.
"Don't waste more time, it almost the time for that man come. Do it now!!" shouted Antonio
"Don't worry it will..." said the man who has not finished his sentence.
The man who held the sack has not finished his sentence because the dagger has caught his neck. Antonio and his man dazed, they were careless, they did not know it. Unlike them, Rose's really did not waste her time on killing them. She threw her dagger away while those people kept talking. Rose's need to knocked 5 people left including Antonio, but there was something bothering her. When she heard Antonio talked with his man, he said if there will be someone coming.
"what are they talking about? Never mind, let's take down the rest and left Antonio for the answer later" whispered Rose.
"GO CATCH HER!!!" shouted Antonio
With that command, the rest of his man including the man who guards Antonio outside the room rushed to ganged Rose. Rose swiftly took a candle light and throw it to the direction in which those man stand, that candle get one of the man who held blunt weapon face, making him screaming in burned.
"Arrghhhhh, Goddamn, it's hot"
Rose ruin that man's face make him fall on the ground holding his burned face, while the other man who saw it realize if they did not have to hold their self against this girl. After seeing they have begun to serious and going to attack her, Roses grab a wooden chair that she used to sit while eating the sandwich and swung it through direction in which place those people were going to attack her. But, she suddenly felt a bit dizzy, she could not see clearly, her sight seem a bit blurry, she could not focus on fighting those people. She kept struggling and swung that chair, she swung it like a drunk girl, she could not take down the target like when she threw the dagger because of those people easily dodge her attack. She wonder, what happens to her, when she thought it carefully, she just ate the sandwich that Antonio gave her. She realized it, there was a wild berries on each of those sandwich, those wild berries contained some poison that make lost some of her sense.
"What, I can't see clearly, my head hurt" whispered Rose.
She began to panic, looking around, she blurry saw those people looking at her, Antonio, the man with his rope and the man who used to guard Antonio outside the room. She realized it, the man with his blunt weapon and burned face did not appear in her sight. When she tried to look carefully, the man who held the blunt weapon appeared behind her, rising his weapon and ready to strike the target. Rose who noticed it could not avoid it, the blunt weapon has been stricken to her base of the neck. It sounds loud, as if it was the sound came from a falling coconut. The strong girl has fallen; she collapsed on the ground with nose bleeding a bit.
"Damn, this girl has strong immune, people who eat that sandwich before will collapse in no time, but this girl.. She collapsed after took 2 of our people" said Antonio
Antonio was panic, his hand shaking and sweating, thinking the berries will not take an effect on Rose. And those three people did not think; if they were have to wait the berries to take the role.
"Tied her" said Antonio
Those people tied Rose and covered her head used the sack, they bring her to a place that bit far from the village.
A few moments later.
Rose has gain her consciousness, she felt a bit dizzy and trying to reach her head but she could not. Her hand and feet has been tied up by those mans, she could not do anything, she could not understand the situation because of the sack that blocked her sight for observing the situation, seeing only a dot of light from the candle comes from the small hole all around the sack. What she knew is if she was not in her inn. She felt it, her hand fingering something, she felt like fingering rice stray. She tried to untie it by trying to reach her pocket to grab the necklace, she tried and tried.
The sound of old-door open
Someone came in to the room, it was a person. Rose could hear his/her step, it sound came closer and closer until it stops in front of Rose. Rose felt it, her heart started pounding at rapid pace. She took a deep breath trying to think positively, she closed her eyes hoping someone would pass and helped her, while thinking about it. the man in her dream came to her mind, she realizes something about the dream before, the man was trying to stop her for getting wake up because of this situation, she regrets it, she should keep sleeping and ignore that sound of knock on door or maybe if she were know this will be happened, she will jump through the window and run away from this village. But, it was too late to regret. The person who stood in front of her tried to reach her, trying to takes the sack off from Rose's face. When she looked at the person face, it was one of Antonio mans, the one that get his face burned by the candle. It seem he came to get his revenge to the girl who ruined his face, it can be looked at his expression. He was glaring dangerous and wild without hiding a bit of his intention. He took his dirty hand to grips Rose's jaw, he looked at rose eyes with his burning face.
"You ruin my face, you bitch" said the man.
Rose could not speak, Antonio has putted something in her mouth in order to make her did not scream a lot. But, Rose showed her expression through her face, belittling him as if she want to say "isn't good for you". After seeing Rose showed that kind of expression, the man could not hold his anger anymore. His face was turning into red, his teeth grinding sound could be heard clearly making his veins peep out around his face. He took a deep breath, baring his teeth in a grimace. He stood from his cower, turning around so that his back was siding Rose face. Rose curious for what that man want to do, when she looked on that man's hand, he was taking off his pants, Rose's began to feel panic, she tried again to untied herself, she tried hard till she accidentally caused some noise and making that man noticed her. that man turn around after he has taken off his pant.
"what are you doing?"
"You cannot go anywhere; you have to pay these scars using your body"
the man naked in front of Rose, he showed his privates thing in front of Rose's face. Rose who could not do anything was closing her eyes, she was very afraid and could not think clearly like she used to. Even-tough she held the necklace, she still felt it, the pressure that man gives her was more than being chased by a vampire, she wants to scream asking help but she cannot. Again, she felt it, the man's hand was fingering her leg through her thigh, his face was so close to Rose's face as if that man wants to lick every inch of Rose face, Roses could feel that man breath, he wants scratch the body that she protected for the man whom she was dream of. that man holds his private thing and showed it right in front of Rose's face, Rose could smell it was a disgusting smell from someone who never had time to took a bath. He tried to undress Rose's cloth, he took of the first buttons of Rose's cloth, Rose revolted.
"mmmmmm...mmmmmmmm"
That man clamp Rose's body by sitting above her and used his knee to lock Rose's movement. He took of the second buttons, her plump chest starting to showed it shape and making that man showed his drooling face toward Rose's body, Rose cried loud.
"nhhhhhh...nhhhhhhhhh,....nhhhhhhh"
She tried as much as she can to escape from that man clamp, making her body got some scratched from doing it, she was bleeding, the pure blood from a maiden, discharging an uncommon smell for a vampire, the rare one, the tasty one and the most wanted one by those vampire. Without a doubt, something has noticed this smell. When the man want to take off the third button, something comes from the dark. It was fast as fast as mice running from their predator, that thing rushed toward Rose and that man direction through those bush, it caused some noise that make every animal which lives around the bush getting away from it . When that man has pull off all of Rose's cloth buttons, Rose still closed her eyes without knowing if that thing has thrown that man away. He realized something wrong when he heard the man body crashed the wall after being thrown away to the wall. She opened her eyes and saw another man was standing in front of her. He seem to be a villagers in her eyes, he feel bit relief for the villager comes to save her. when she tried to ask the villagers to untied her
"mmmmmm..mmmmmmm"
That man looked-like villager responds to Rose's call, he glared to Rose eyes making her stunned. That man looked-like villager has a pair red eyes and sharp fangs, she has done. Thinking someone would come to help a girl that they did not know anything about her was too naive, the man looked-like a villager was a vampire, the one the get invited by the smell of blood from the maiden. She gave up, the more she hopes the more it getting worse. She took a deep breath and gave everything to the vampire, the vampire bends his body and tried to reach the Rose blood that spilled on the ground. He took it using his finger, then he licked it as if it was sweet strawberry jam. that vampire enjoys it, slobbering from licking his own finger, his saliva fell down to the ground touching Rose's leg.
"I could not take anymore, let me sucked you till you dried"
This Vampire was the one that Antonio talked about. In fact, for this village to survived til this time was because the give a sacrifice every 3 days to the vampire who held territory around this village making those vampires did not attack the villagers as long as they kept their promise. Rose closed her eyes and did not care for everything happened, as long as that burned face man did not touch her body, she was willing to give up his life sincere to this vampire. She could not hear anything as if she has been died peacefully without felling any pain from being sucked, but she felt that vampire's saliva fell down touching his leg, that saliva was fell down heavily as if it was water falling down from the waterfall, she felt bothered for it and opened her eyes. When She open her eyes, the vampire got his body stabbed by the double sword, the water that felt down touched her leg actually was not his saliva, it was his blood, bleeding like a waterfall making him lose his life, when she looked at the man who stabbed the double sword, tears fall apart upon her face, the different meaning of tears, the happy but sad one, the time she spent during her journey described by every drop of her tears, feeling lonely, fear, tired and waiting has been paid by only looking on the owner of the double sword. he was the masked-man, the one she wants live with.
