Katherine rubbed her eyebrows at the sight of a full blown party. "Do you like it?" June asked her, someone told her he is running an architectural company but he still has time to throw lavish parties. For some reason Katherine couldn't take her eyes off June's companion, does she also like women? This person is clearly female but she is incredibly drawn to her and not in a platonic way.
"If I don't like it will it go away?" Katherine asked sarcastically. June just shrugged.
June introduced "This is Lana she is a colleague. Lana this is cl.. Katherine Pierce. Our newest member." June said ignoring his clan leader's sharp words.
"It was meant to be only family here but we have made friends here over the years and we'll, you get the gist." He explained
"I suppose I can move out into a quiet single flat." Katherine mused out loud.
"No, that's not necessary. This is only a one time thing just try to enjoy yourself. We invited Rebekah Mikaelson I remember she was one of the few people you could stand in this town."
"She won't remember me. She also hate the Petrova doppelgangers remember?" Katherine felt a headache coming on.
"Right, well just be your normal charming self she will warm up to you in no time." June smiled sheepishly. Katherine is about to say something when a sharp voice came from the side.
"And who might you be?" Rebekah looked at Katherine up and down with eyes full of distain. Katherine smiled at her and did a curtsy.
"Katharina Petrova. Call me Katherine." Katherine felt a bit nervous for some reason. Is it that she wished to be friends with Rebekah?
"A doppelganger! Fantastic." Rebekah walked off looking genuinely disgusted.
"Wow, someone doesn't mince their dislike." Lana walked up to Katherine with a comforting smile.
"She has been treated like a princess her whole life. Always surround by strong brothers making her feel overly comfortable. She just needs a good beating." Katherine rolled her eyes not caring about her careful thoughts about being friends with that girl.
"You know her?" Lana is surprised. If Katherine knew that woman then she should know better than to speak so openly as she can hear.
"You can say I know of her. As you can see getting to know someone is hard when they have preconceived notions of you. Though I am sure whatever she thinks of me is mostly true." Katherine smirked when Lana choked on her drink.
"Cough, cough.." Lana tried to get the rest of her drink down.
"Try to keep it in." Katherine patted her back slightly. "Let's get you water." They made their way to the kitchen and found May hot and heavy with a human. A very strong one by the looks of things.
"Common area!" Katherine chuckled as the two dazedly pulled each other upstairs. Lana drank water and the two just sat in the side area with comfortable couches she had never bought before. They must have changed furniture a few times now.
"So.." Lana smile at Katherine and put her hot hand on her knee. Katherine who hasn't felt another's touch in so long shuddered and subconsciously leaned forward meeting Lana in a gentle chaste kissed that started with a cautious probing to a hot kiss that left them both breathless.
"Interesting." A voice in the door way sounded. Lana and Katherine didn't stop. They didn't even acknowledge the extra person in the room and continued enjoying each other.
Out of the blue, something separated the two people roughly. Katherine is about to be very angry when she came face to face to two brown orbs showing unmistakable fury. She subconsciously shrank her neck in fright.
"Katherine! What is the meaning of this?" Elijah gave Lana a single glance but in this one look, Lana decided to quickly retreat. Before Katherine could say anything, the girl literary disappeared from their sight.
"What do you want?" Katherine had already returned to normal. She picked up a glass of water from before and put it back down again.
"Hehe.." Elijah let out a dark chuckle. "You are coming with me." He grabbed her by her arm and when she protested more, he bent down and picked her up bridal style and sped out of town.
"What in the actual hell?" Katherine shouted at the man as he tightens his grip on her. He threw her on a soft bed and stood there watching her with a scotching gaze. His eyes seem to shift in an out of focus.
"You don't seem well." She commented nervously.
"I agree, that I let you down Katharina. It was me, I lost you on my own initiative can you give me a moment to adjust before things change too much?" Looking at him like this, he seem to be torn apart bit by bit.
"Time to adjust? Are you asking me to be friends with benefits?" She tilted her head curiously.
"If possible, but I meant can you not let others touch you? This is very important to me. Please, I just need a bit more time. There is somethings I need to sort through and after that I promise not to bother you." He pleaded. Katherine took a closer look at him.
She blatantly realized the always meticulous Elijah hasn't fixed his wild hair after speeding through the wind outside. His eyes are red in the corners and his shirt which is usually meticulously ironed straight is wrinkled and loose around the waist like some hoodlum.
It is clear he is suffering because of something. Katherine felt a bit sad for him. She nodded her head and returned to the party with a heart full of questions.
"I decided to be introduced as a witch so that I can explain why I am in the clan. No one must know about my beast understand?" She Mikel and he nodded solemnly.
They walked forward and to her surprise she saw Damon, Alaric Saltzman, Mason and Rebekah Mikaelson.
"Hey everyone, I'm the new witch. Thank you for the party.my name is Katherine Pierce." She smiled and everyone drank in toast.
She walked to Mikel but Rebekah stood in her way. Katherine smiled and extended her hand hoping to be acquainted sooner.
"Another doppelganger bitch. Since when you people can be witches?" Rebekah asked in a way that suggests Katherine is lying.
Katherine just smiled and used the witches favorite trick of boiling their vampires brain. Only times a hundred making Rebekah double over in pain. When she stopped the party is already silent everyone looking at them.
"Do you believe me now?" She asked rolling her eyes. "I have a feeling you and I are going to become fast friends, I have always liked people who voice out their dislike right away." She said stunning Rebekah.
"Even if you're a witch, Mikel and the other's are not just wolves so what makes you qualified to join their group?" She sneered.
Katherine's smile didn't falter, her aura turned and she seemed to be surrounded by an overly inviting charm.
"Why don't you kiss me?" She asked and Rebekah seemed possessed, her breathing became labored seemingly unable to hold herself back.
She pulled Katherine's face gently and gave her a deep passionate kiss. Whistles sounded all around them and when Katherine pulled back her charm, Rebekah became flustered and pushed her away.
"Oh please, don't act like you didn't enjoy it." She looked at Rebekah with a pair of hooded eyes and licked her lips.
"Why the hell did you make me do that?!" Rebekah shouted and lunged for Katherine who ran away hiding behind Mikel.
"You wanted to know what makes me special, I can bend others to my will. Also, tongue, really? It was our first kiss." She laughed when Rebekah growled and tried to grab her but Katherine is like a snake, flexibly dodging her hand in the nik of time.
"You should have just told me this, why go so far?" She asked in anger.
"I just wanted a kiss, and you were being incredibly cute just then." The party went on when others saw this was not a serious fight. They just pointed and laughed.
"She said that Elijah's adopted children are hers." Alaric said to Damon. Who squinted his eyes at the running Katherine who seems to be having a great time messing with Rebekah.
"So, your name is Katherine huh?" Damon came over and and started talking to her but Katherine looked at Alaric Saltzman.
"So you complained about me?" She snarled at Alaric Saltzman who just shrugged. She is referring to Elijah making her to reconsider moving into the school.
"And you made me see my wife's death over and over again in my dreams. We're even." He gave her a pointed look.
Katherine didn't send it. "Yeah, sorry about that. A spur of the moment thing. I'm working on my temper." She said sheepishly.
"When did you place a curse on me anyways?" Alaric asked visibly curious and a but put out by it all.
"When you pissed me off. You're lucky I didn't turn you into a cursed object." She rolled her eyes.
"Witches.." Damon spat in annoyance. Katherine didn't glance at him.
"I can understand being a loving mother but that is no excuse to invade our school." Alaric didn't seem sorry for his actions at all.
"Alright. As you wish little head master." Katherine didn't want to sour the mood. She is about to move away when Damon stepped in front of her with obvious signs of annoyance.
"Hello I'm Damon Salvatore." He seems a little drunk but there's something else there. Katherine decides it's middle life crisis and moves around him before he could get up in her face again.
"Wait!" Damon seeing her easily avoid him opted for shouting for her to stop. Katherine stopped and turned to look at him. That look sent shivers down his spine.
"What is it?" She asked
"You just seem familiar that's all." Ah yes. He did spend a large part of his immortality obsessing over Katherine and the big part of why he loves Elena is probably because she is nothing like Katherine but now, there's no Katherine to compare.
She wondered what he is thinking so she indulged him a little. "Why don't you tell me what's on your mind?" She walked back and stood near him.
A quick scan tells her he has a lot on his mind but she didn't rush him. "Have we met before?" He asked her with his shoulders slump.
"No." Katherine's hair is curly and very long. Her fox blood molded her to perfection.
Although she is a doppelganger she is taller, the muscles from training and her ample beasts and round buttocks making her curves prominent. There is no way she can be confused for someone else.
"I just feel...." He sounded confused.
"Right, it's probably the bourbon. But you also seem a little lost. Just go home and sleep it off." She offered but that seem to frustrate him even more.
Katherine has lost interest in this conversation when her eye caught sight of someone unfamiliar.
Bobby came running and collided into Katherine hugging her tightly.
"I have missed you so much. I am sort of a sensation in the art world now. And it's all thanks to you and your 'refinement' lessons." She boasts. Then a short distance away Carolina walked in.
"Hi, I'm Caroline. Bobby is my friend." Katherine forced a smile and for the first time wanted to bolt from her own party. She had really cared for Caroline once but kept getting blindsided and sidelines for Elena.
"Yes. I heard you are the real principal of Salvatore school. Do you hate this place?" Katherine tilted her head as she asked.
Caroline is surprised but answered. "No, why would I?"
"Well, you did open a school that hosts the world's most powerful children that may get out of control sooner or later in the place you call home. I guess my question is, what's up with that?" She asked the stunned Caroline.
"What happens when those kids revolt and decide the weak human shouldn't dictate what they do with their power and harm all your neighbors and friends?" She continues but no response came from Caroline.
"Kat, ease up a little. Caroline thinks of it as giving those kids a place to be themselves without endangering others or themselves." Bobby said from the side.
"I see. But there is no way to ensure an accident won't happen. It's as if she is praying for a set of obedient children. As a kicker, she has a complete drunk who is human run the place." Katherine did not mince her words.
"Okay we just met. Why are you so unhappy with me? Did I offend you in anyway?" Caroline felt attacked. This question brought Katherine back to her senses.
"Sorry. I have my kids in there becauseof their father and I have been banned from getting a job in the school." Katherine saud gritting her teeth.
Caroline is stunned. "What job did you want to apply for?" She asked curious.
"I have a library of knowledge collected over 500 years." Katherine grumbled. Hearing her, Caroline showed a look of understanding.
"Then you really are a Petrova doppelganger aren't you?" Caroline asked.
"Yeah, but many things have changed since then. My blood can no longer be considered that of a doppelganger." Katherine answered.
"I am sorry for the rejection. It must have felt like an insult to someone of your stature. Peace offering?" She gave her a glass of bourbon.
"Peace." Katherine readily agreed. They drank some more and talked a bit about the school, the children and most importantly why Katherine thought having the school here is a bad idea.
Caroline went home after saying goodbye to Tony and the other's.
Katherine found Mikel who is entangled with Rebekah. "What the hell was that stunt?" He whisper yelled at Rebekah Mikaelson.
"I saw your eyes not leave her the moment she entered the yard. Are you in love with her or something?" Rebekah shouted in a low voice.
"I have known her for at least 12 years and I have been in love with her ever since." Mikel having drank a lot of the golden dew fessed up, but Rebekah didn't seem surprised.
"I knew it!" She said. Katherine is surprised by the sudden confession. What the hell is this boy doing? Is he trying to get people to hate her on the first encounter?
"Are you going to come out?" Mikel looked in her direction but Katherine is about to teleport away when Rebekah fleshed in front of her and with one grab on her neck threw her on the wall behind her.
"You doppelganger bitch, I can't even breath for a few centuries before being unlucky and coming across one of you."
Rebekah is every strong she expected Katherine to smash harshly against the wall but Katherine seem to be extremely light on her feet and nimbly held on to the hall with her hands and feet like a cat and then jumped down in a perfect show of reflexes.
"Kat." Mikel rushed to see if she is hurt and then his anger flared turning his completely black eyes towards Rebekah who took a step back in absolute horror.
"What did you just do?" The entire place became shrouded in a gloomy black smoke. Everyone felt a cold grip of death making their lives flash befere their eyes.
Katherine became stunned. Just how much more powerful has Mikel gotten over the years? He was always the most talented of the nine tails and the one who works the hardest.
Mikel seem to have lost his mind and took a step towards Rebekah but Katherine pulled his ear and scolded. "What stunt are you pulling in my welcome party? Are you in need of a beating?"
The scene froze, everyone came back to their senses but didn't dare move. They somehow knew the black smoke in the area all around them is dangerous.
Katherine not getting an answer pulled harder on Mikel's ear. "Did I stutter? I said, what kind of stunt are you pulling at my welcome party? Is this your way of telling me I am not welcome?" She gritted out.
Mikel felt like he is wronged and Katherine heard a whine. An actual whine from his wolf. "No I'm sorry..Ao it hurts. Let me go, let me go.."
Mikel sounded helpless as he tried not to make too much movements, his ear is now turning red from being pinched so hard.
Katherine let go of his ear and shoved him away from her. "How can you treat our guests like that and ruin the mood?" She asked.
"My bad, I'll buy a shot of golden dew for everyone!"
That made them happy and they celebrated loudly. Katherine sneaked away amidst the chaos but she didn't see Lana following her. She is too distracted by Mikel's words.
She ran into the woods that she had surrounded with a powerful barrier so they can shift and hunt without running into humans.
Finding something curious when she ventured deeper. A large opening greeted her with a big quiet lake and a three room tree house .
Feeling inspired she took out a crown she had once offered to Davina, this crown allows whoever wears it, power over plants. Unlike before when she had only felt a sliver of power, she can feel a wave crashing against her meridians begging to be of use.
Her eye pupils turned green and slowly a beautiful wooden path is created by branches on the ground. The path continues until it reaches a large ancient tree. Katherine can feel this wood will not bend easily.
She floated in the air and communicated with all the nearby trees. A little tug and the channel is secured. Then one by one they sacrificed their wood for her.
Thousands of pieces of wood came together bending and blending together as if melted into form. The trees blended and a staircase is woven together headed up to the entrance of a two story small house is built in a very short time.
Taking out the crown, Katherine felt complex a surge of child like happiness seeing the smooth wood of her new dwelling.
She entered after taking the stairs. The first floor is spacious with a kitchen and a seating area. There's a toilet with bathroom. Upstairs has two bedrooms and a single bathroom with a shower and a bath tub.
Satisfied, she took out her bed. The furniture from her space and even put some clothes in the wardrobe. She washed up and fell asleep in the dark room.
Outside, Lana watches as all this take place but she decided not to follow Katherine inside. This girl seems more powerful than initially thought. Lana pulled her sleeve and whispered.
"Request change of targer. The new target is young and seems to possess powerful witch magic but most importantly she doesn't seem as guarded as the previous target.
"There's a chance to fulfill the objective sooner with her as the target." There is silence then a while later someone sent a message back.
"Granted"
Lana smiled and then disappeared into the woods.
Katherine slept all night and in the morning she shifted into her fox reduced into smaller size and ran through the woods. her fox has fluffy pink fur, a pair of glowing large animal eyes and four tails.
She played with other smaller animals and ate the ones trying to eat her and then took a bath in the lake. She then walked into her house to change.
When she arrived at the pack house there's a bunch of maids diligently cleaning the place while everyone is either having breakfast or getting ready to go to work.
"Cl..Katherine, where did you sleep? We were worried about you." Babby said remembering they have to call her by her name and not clan leader anymore.
"I saw a tree house taking a walk in the woods and then decided to build my own. By the way, send a reliable company to install water and electricity there. Buy a silent geyser." Katherine instructed and someone went to do as asked.
"Can we talk?" Mikel asked and the other's vanished instantly as if they want to give them privacy.
"You meant for me to hear those words last night didn't you?" Katherine asked him pensive.
"When I first got together with her I specifically said it was casual but over time she got more and more jealous. I like her but I also know she doesn't actually have deeper feelings for me, at least not as deep as she likes another." Mikel said.
"So you used her hate for doppelgangers to make her give up?" Katherine asked coolly.
"I would use someone else but several girls and boys have died in strange accidents or disappeared completely from my life. She is a full blown bully. You are strong enough to take whatever she does in retaliation and those words I said are not lies, I really am hopelessly in love with you. Since a very long time but you got married and I didn't want to confuse things." Mikel spoke fast but Katherine understood.
"I actually loved Elijah." She said downcast. Mikel clenched his jaw.
"I know. But Katherine, you never actually expected him to walk away from his family. You were waiting for the other shoe to drop as soon as you married him." He took a step forward, getting closer she is directly in front of him.
He bent down,his nose touched her hair. Slowly he closed his eyes and savored her scent. He spoke again, this time his voice is hoarse with need.
"You might have loved him but you always knew he will disappoint you just like he had disappointed countless others before you." Katherine took a step back.
Is she crazy? Or is the world crazy?
