Chapter 19 - Devil Man and the fifth mysterious fighter

"Alright, I'm ready for my next opponent."

"Let the next match begin! Spike, come forth!"

A figure stepped into the room. He had two sharp horns, black wings, and a long tail with an arrow-shaped tip. It was Spike, the Devil Man.

"Ready... set... GO!"

Spike smirked, flapping his wings as he hovered above Alex. "I always give my opponents a chance to surrender. What do you say?"

Alex crossed his arms. "No thanks."

The Devil Man's eyes gleamed as he suddenly dived at Alex, slashing with his razor-sharp nails. Alex dodged, leaping backward just in time to avoid a sweeping kick. Without hesitation, he countered with a swift kick to Spike's face.

Spike grunted as he tumbled through the air, barely managing to flap his wings before he plunged into the acidic water below. He landed on the stone tongue, panting. "Huff Lucky shot. That's all it was!"

Alex smirked. "Really? Funny, I seem to keep getting lucky in every match."

Spike's expression twisted with anger. "Why you little... You think you can beat me?"

From the sidelines, Baba called out, "You better win!"

Spike regained his composure and smiled wickedly. "Unfortunately for him, his luck is about to run out. No one can survive my Devilmite Beam!"

He hovered higher, forming a triangle with his fingers as dark energy crackled around them. "Negative energy exists in all living things. It's born from fear, anger, hatred, jealousy... and I can harness it!"

Baba's eyes widened. "Stop! This is going too far!"

Alex clenched his fists. "Then I'll just have to dodge it!"

Spike laughed. "Hahaha! There's nowhere to dodge on this narrow tongue!"

He fired the Devilmite Beam. Alex leaped at the last second, dodging it. Cupping his hands together, he began to charge energy. "Kame... hame..."

Spike grinned. "You're a sitting duck!" He fired another Devilmite Beam—only for it to pass right through Alex.

"Wha—?! Where did he go?"

"Ha!"

Alex appeared behind Spike, unleashing his Kamehameha. The blast sent Spike soaring through the ceiling.

"Boom!"

Alex exhaled, lowering his hands. "Guess I used a bit too much energy on that one... Sorry about your ceiling, Baba."

Baba stared in shock, mouth slightly open. Meanwhile, Mellon cheered. "Yay! Go Alex! One more fight and we win!"

Baba muttered to herself, "He's just like that boy..." Then, she chuckled. "Hehehe. You may be celebrating now, but you haven't met my final fighter."

She turned and called out, "Number Five, your match is at hand!"

A figure stepped forward. Alex's eyes narrowed. What the...? What is he doing here?

The man had gray hair, a white mustache and beard, and wore black martial arts clothing. He smiled warmly. "Hello there. My name is Jackie Chun."

Jackie cracked his neck. "Hmm, how about we take this match outside? A little fresh air would do us good."

Baba grinned. "Certainly! Let's take this outside—where everyone can witness your defeat!"

As they walked outside, Mellon scoffed. "That old man doesn't stand a chance."

Alex shook his head. "You're wrong, Mellon. Don't be fooled by his appearance—he's one of the strongest martial artists in the world."

Mellon blinked. "Huh? Really? He looks like he'd blow away with the wind!"

Meanwhile, Baba and Jackie walked ahead.

"This is the last favor I'm doing for you," Baba muttered. "You better win."

Jackie chuckled. "I'll try my best, but these matches are unpredictable—no guarantees."

"Exactly!" Baba laughed. "The unpredictability is what I love about it... and the money."

Soon, Alex and Jackie stood in the ring. Baba giggled in excitement.

"Can we start already?" Alex asked, shrugging off his turtle shell and tossing it out of the ring. Bang! It landed heavily. He rolled his shoulders, cracking his knuckles. "Yup. I'm ready."

Jackie grinned. "You won't hold back, will you?"

Alex smirked. "Nope. Holding back against you would be a mistake—especially against the former world champion."

Jackie's grin widened. "That's what I like to hear. It would be a shame if you lost too quickly."

Baba raised her hand. "NOW... get ready! The final match is about to begin! It continues until one of you surrenders!"

Then, she smirked at Alex. "And if you somehow manage to win, I will reveal the location of what you seek."

Mellon clenched his fists. "Go, Alex! Knock the socks off that old coot!"

Baba raised her arm. "Ready..."

Alex and Jackie locked eyes.

"BEGIN!"
