Chapter 4 - Power

Ye Mo returned to his small cabin, kicking the door open as he flung the old man's corpse on the floor. He was panting, and his arms felt particularly heavy at this moment, it wasn't easy to carry the man here, but he wasn't worried.

In the slums, fights, theft, and murders were common sights, laws and morality didn't apply to this place. No one was concerned about these misdeeds nor would they care to search for someone like the drunkard.

Ye Mo steeled his heart before ambushing the man, it was his first time taking someone's life and he thought it might have some impact on him, whether before or after the act yet, besides palpitations in his hands before taking action, he felt nothing.

He lived in this place for a long time and has been the witness of many deaths, rape, and cadavers laying on back alleys or in the middle of the street at everyone's sight. Such scenes didn't bother him anymore and he probably would have killed already if he wasn't so weak and hungry all the time, making him avoid any confrontations to focus on filling his stomach.

Back to the situation at hand, Ye Mo placed the corpse at the center of the room and then sat down, raising his finger to press at various points of his body according to the method described in the manual.

The black book explained the body, dantian and soul were the three vessels carrying humans' potential. The body itself possesses hundreds of acupoints, all with their secrets and purpose.

Ye Mo quickly pressed a series of them, tanzhong acupoint, mingmen acupoint, laogong acupoint, shanzhong acupoint, he passed by many of them methodically and after a short time, beads of sweat dropped from his forehead as he gasped for breath, but he didn't dare delay for an instant and continued swiftly pressing various acupoints on his body.

Acupoints ensure the smooth circulation of the blood and balance the vitality in one's body, they are mysterious, and should never be played with without prior knowledge. Stimulating them randomly could as well have no repercussions to gaining superhuman strength and increasing your lifespan, but in most cases, it would only result in internal bleeding, crippling yourself, or even dying.

Ye Mo had to be cautious, one mistake could end in dire consequences.

When he pressed close to thirty of them, Ye Mo took a deep breath; but didn't lose his concentration.

At this moment, his blood swirled in his body, defying its natural path as it circulated in reverse. In tandem with the blood of his body, a smaller part traveled inside his palm and flowed in a spiral.

Ye Mo cautiously placed his hand on the corpse.

At this instant, the still blood in the drunk man's corpse churned, reacting to Ye Mo's spiral, and engaged in movement, flowing backward as well in synch with the latter's blood.

The blood of the two circulated as if connected for a short time, but all of a sudden, the one from the corpse, as if attracted by Ye Mo's body, started to pour madly in his palm like a breaking dam, then traveled to his arm, his chest and finally permeated the rest of his body.

The corpse shriveled bit by bit until it turned into a mummified pack of bones and a simple touch would turn it to dust. One wouldn't believe this person was killed the same night if one saw the state of its remains.

However, Ye Mo couldn't spare any attention to the corpse at this time, a massive energy was reinforcing every single corner of his body. The pores of his skin opened up, his flesh toughened, his bones' density increased and even his organs had a qualitative change.

However, this transformation wasn't what marked Ye Mo the most, while his body grew stronger, a miraculous development occurred as he could feel his shattered meridians slowly heal.

Ye Mo was exhilarated, he didn't think it was possible. If his meridians made a complete recuperation, he could cultivate qi in the future and become a true cultivator. With the Nine Revolutions Fiend Body along with qi and battle skills, Ye Mo would have many possibilities.

He was marveling at the sensation of power, absorbing qi in his body once was able to bring him to his peak state from a starving, nearly beaten-to-death boy, but this method directly broke past his limits. Right now, he wouldn't be in a disadvantage fighting a grown man and he wasn't even thirteen yet.

Ye Mo willed and his blood flew in reverse once more as a spiral of blood manifested inside his palm, but was unnoticeable from the outside. After he stimulated certain acupoints in his body following the direction of the manual, he could now reproduce this phenomenon with the ease one would have to flex his fingers.

Ye Mo craved for more, but he forcefully calmed himself down, he heard many stories about demonic cultivators losing all reasons and wreaking havoc before quickly being executed by those from the righteous faction.

He couldn't let that happen to himself.

It was the bad side of demonic cultivation, their organizations had to constantly remain hidden while the righteous sects lived in the light of the sky and the warmth of the sun, able to travel the land without encountering any difficulties.

These righteous factions would immediately form an alliance and send a punitive force to slaughter them and share the profits if a lair of demonic cultivators was discovered.

Demonic cultivators were chased everywhere and missions to kill them would be issued in sects as a form of training to their disciple.

For Ye Mo, both were the same, the only difference would be that one side cared about appearances and made efforts to hide their deeds, emphasizing a spotless reputation while the demonic faction didn't concern themselves with decorum and were more honest about it, finding their actions natural no matter how much blood they spilled.

Breaking out of his train of thought, Ye Mo crushed the remains of his victim's corpse and dispersed the remaining dust behind his small habitation. After meditating for a long time on his next course of action, he went to sleep.

The next day, Ye Mo went to have a meal in a cheap restaurant of the city.

He wouldn't have left the bronze coins to the drunkard.

He took a bath in the cold water of a stream before coming so although he was barefooted and shirtless, displaying his unfavorable situation, the waiter didn't chase him out. They would rather take money where it was than chase someone for some skin showing, they had seen much worse in their time so as long as you were clean and didn't smell, you wouldn't be rejected.

Ye Mo sat down near a window and was quickly served.

Subtle muscles were already showing under his skin and an air of brutality surrounded him as he ate like there was no tomorrow.

Although some shot glances, no one bothered him during his meal. This wouldn't have been possible a few days ago, strength ruled while the weak was preyed upon and it was hard to find someone weaker than him in the past.

Even if the waiters didn't chase you, it didn't mean the customers wouldn't have malicious intentions towards you.

However, right now he seemed rather healthy and energetic. Attacking someone also held risks for yourself so everyone ate by themselves and ignored him.
