Eric relaxed a little seeing she wasn't angry. However, right then he noticed her give him and Riya on his lap a sidelong glance which made him gulp in nervousness.
'She is bothered by this.' He thought, 'But… Why isn't she telling little Riya to get down? Instead, she seems to be trying to… ignore it?'
He was genuinely confused by her strange behavior. She didn't say anything when he and little Riya played with each other, hugged, or made some slightly intimate gestures such as him kissing her forehead or Riya kissing his cheek, but whenever some ambiguous tension started building between them like now, she would immediately scold Riya and tell her to leave him alone.
