Leyla rejoined the group the next morning. No one spoke of what had occurred the night before as they traversed even more steep terrain, skirting another mountain over the following days. The sky appeared hazy and there was a foul smell in the air as the day progressed. It was enough to unsettle Eva's stomach, and they needed to stop frequently to relieve her morning sickness.
It was disconcerting to see her pale, sunken in expression. Lucas tried to feed her the fruit they found in the valleys, but she barely kept anything down. Master Fiora had given him potions in small vials for this reason, but even stomaching them was proving difficult for her. A prominent bump filled out her frame, but the rest of her was a lot thinner than from before.
