He believed in his own strength and knew that even if he gave up that line of research, he wouldn't lag behind others.
Hill was never someone who demanded perfection from himself. He tolerated and liked his flaws, even if some might think him somewhat hypocritical.
Not troubling himself was his life philosophy. Being able to live such a life made him feel very fortunate, as his long life allowed Hill to slow down his pace.
Of course, if fate decreed it, he wouldn't struggle too much against it.
His absence of self-trouble was predicated on the assumption that his life was passable.
