Nenet calmed down and finally freed her grip around Haco.
The air was strangely silent and the wind could be heard whispering in through the window.
Haco wanted to ask, "So what happened to you?" but he found himself too afraid to ask thus making this silence drag on.
His struggle was painted clear on his face until—
**Bang!**
The bottom of a violent fist bonked his head, which prompted him to look angrily at Nenet.
"Why are you hitting me?"
"Because it looked like your brain stopped working again. You always go flying somewhere, leaving me behind," said Nenet with a face that got more sullen. Her bubbly puffed cheeks clearly indicated she was throwing a big girl tantrum.
Honestly, it relieved him, "If you're like this, then you are fine."
Nenet defensively wrapped herself in her arms. Her expression turned fearful as she denied, "I'm not. After… I thought you died, Weneg caught me and wanted to use me as a breeding pig. Disgusting prick!"
Abruptly, Haco rose from his chair and looked at Nenet in shock and worry. What should he say or do? Why did he assume she was dead? Just as the agonizing thoughts of his went through his head, he had to dodge another fist.
This time Nenet wasn't doing it intentionally. She stood up and did a dramatic pose as she said, "But I stood my ground and fought them off—!" and the fist broke through the low ceiling.
The barrack they were in had many floors. To have so, the ceiling was lowered to the absolute limit.
Outside, a few Gravekeepers stared at the busy Capital. They felt weird as people were looking. They were on edge. So when a fist went through the roof, two Gravekeepers jumped like deers in headlights.
Someone was attacking! Or so they thought.
"Seems like they are fighting again…" Mumbled a Gravekeeper around Haco's age.
"Those two just can't together. They always end up fighting."
Inside, Haco face-palmed himself at the embarrassment.
As Nenet pulled her fist back, she coughed a little to hide it and tried to play it off, "—And used my iron fist like this."
Seeing Haco was still hiding his face, she did another cough and asked, "So, how did you survive? I clearly saw Weneg throw you off the cliff." Thinking about it now, her bubbly mood turned ballistic. A bulging vein appeared between the brows.
"I will kill him later!"
"Already killed him."
"And when I do, we will accomplish our dream!"
"Already about to."
"..."
Nenet pulled her ear out, so it pointed at Haco, "Say that again?"
Instead of saying anything, Haco took over the ear and pulled her over to the window—like scolding a child.
She managed to complain once before her mouth fell open in shock when the full view of the Capital could be seen. The palace towers stood proudly in the center. Trade ships run through canals, and more.
"This… Where are we?"
Haco began narrowing the things he had experienced:
How he survived and was brought to the Capital—by nice Danger Beast poachers.
How he signed up to work for a general—not forced by Esdeath.
Last, how he made a deal to free the Gravekeepers and move them to the Capital—in exchange for their allegiance.
Although he felt bad for twisting the facts, he just swallowed it. Firstly, it was the pride that wouldn't let him reveal that he was sold as a slave. Second, he was scared of how she would react to the truth. Would she resent him?
Insecurity twisted around his heart. Even though he gained healing abilities, the matters of the heart were not that easy to heal.
Originally, it was her dream to pull the Gravekeepers out of seclusion, and it just happened to be a goal picked up to get revenge on his father. Together with the notorious girl, they were seen as outcasts.
Even though they were something different from a human, they still felt loneliness as one. So the introverted Haco, inevitably let Nenet into his little circle and they became friends and grew up together in a very competitive relationship.
It didn't even take an hour for Haco to reveal everything he wanted. He'd rehearsed it before she woke up, even though it hurt his pride to accept being a bad liar. In general, being called bad at anything was something he hated.
"That's all. I have taken revenge and Weneg is dead. I also killed every 5-skulled Gravekeeper."
Nenet turned bright hearing he was dead, but unexpectedly she turned a little upset hearing he killed them all.
"Was that necessary? If you killed half, then I'm sure they would have surrendered…"
"It was!" It came out a little angrily, but he really didn't want to discuss this topic. So he got up and decided to leave as means to flee. "You should have some rest. I will see you in a few hours—"
Before Haco could get up from the desk he was leaning on, she pushed him down and grabbed his collar angrily.
He was worried that she wouldn't let it go.
"We have just reunited… So don't go so soon," she said with a decreasing volume. It was a little embarrassing being so forceful.
More, so when she mumbled the reason, "Stay… I have the itch."
The red hue her tanned cheeks gained made her look so incredibly sweet it hit the right spot.
Still, he still had some reservations. Like, this isn't even his home or room. And he wanted to hide his relationship. Hide a weakness. More, so he did just lie. His revenge wasn't over. He'd to find and kill a rat. Admitting the said rat got the better of him—was out of the question.
So, "I think you should rest more," he said while pushing her off.
"Noo~ I have been starving while you were gone." Her expression turned more feverish with each word as she begged and fought against the push by bending a little.
Haco's hand that have been pushing the stomach, found its way into the vowed shirt and met a soft resistance.
Her breathing. His breathing turned ragged.
They kept eye contact as their heads swayed from side to side. Their noses grazed each other in intimacy.
The head dancing was broken by an abrupt cry of pleasure from her. The hand that had wandered into the world of softness, took a bite of a mountain.
With it, her bend-over back reversed into an arc—like a bow. Quickly following the pleasure was a sudden pain as she hit her head on a rafter.
"Ouch!" Cried Nenet in pain with gritted teeth and looked hatefully at the rafter. The room was too cramped for her size, so she slid Haco to the other side of the desk and carefully dodged another rafter.
But she overlooked the spiderweb that stuck to her face. Haco had to dodge the long arm that she hurriedly withdrew to wipe it off.
As she did, she also managed to bulldoze the lantern on the desk to the ground. The sound of shattering glass would surely travel outside.
"Get it off! Hacooo!!" It was a disgusting feeling and she cried for help to get it off. Outside, it would be interpreted as a cry of ire.
A set of hands landed on her hips and she found her back making contact with the wooden desk and the web was being gently removed. The set of hands was exchanged with the tight mount of Haco's knees. They fit perfectly around the long hourglass body he was sitting on.
For Haco, the clumsiness didn't diminish the fever on his face. After removing the last trace of spider web, he kissed her. It was a soft sensation with eager force applied, but she didn't mind. Instead, she hugged his back to deal with the itching in her body. Despite being pinned down, she squirmed and rubbed her body against his.
The ragged breathing turned exaggerated as they breathed in each other's mouths.
At about the same time, they both had a hand that got adventurous. His found its way back into the short shirt and massaged. They had changed a little.
Hers followed down Haco's strong back until they felt the hollowness at the end of the spine. With a little tease, Haco's eyes widened a little at the tickling sensation.
The gaze in her eyes told: "I challenge you!"
It challenged his ego to turn up the heat. So he gripped the hem from within and pulled it off, over the head and slowly over the long arms.
She stretched her arms in cooperation but ended with her hitting a shelf on a bookcase. It broke and the books tumbled down with a racket.
With the shirt removed, the hand once again landed on his back. The hunger to be fed outdid any pain.
With the stare of her ludicrous chest and little shoulders, his mohawk tickled the peak. As if redemption for the tickle, the thick hair pricked at the sensitive spot.
So she urged Haco's face down. The sensation of a tongue going around felt wonderful—and she let it show with a moan and arched back.
"I can't take it anymore!" Nenet went through the space between her stomach and forced it down between the space of her legs. For while now, she has been prickled there and wanted to fight back.
When she seemed to be pushing it, Haco created some distance and crawled down from the desk.
In full cooperation, Nenet raised her long thin twigs and let him slide off the pants that had turned into bloomers when she wore them.
With a tanned naked girl on the dark wooden table, it let him appreciate the sight as he undressed. Before he knew it, he'd held onto a foot and traced it. The wood grain made one wonder if it was blemishing the sight of the perfect skin.
It ended with him getting back into position. This time instead of mounting her, he kneeled between the strong thighs.
Before he could lean forward and place his hands around her, he already felt a hand guiding the connection.
She was eager, "Haco~ Only you can satisfy my hunger."
The rest of the act would only make them seemed over-salacious. Beasts that have been deprived of mating for far too long.
Nenet broke a few more things. She trampled on the books while he snatched her from behind.
The bed wasn't used. It was too small.
As for the poor desk, it got awfully wriggly when the act ended.
"I'm so glad you're alive." It was a heartfelt feeling of relief. Until now, Nenet felt it hard to believe. Haco had changed, but he was still the same…
Or so she would come to learn that everything isn't what it seemed. Being together with true beasts disguised in human skin, rubbed off.
