"Governor Charles, which island had you visited before?" the elder asked slowly as he lay in bed.
"Shattered Heart Island."
The elder shook his head, extending his withered index finger and tracing imaginary shapes in the air.
He drew a circle to represent the entire Mist Sea, then marked eight points around its perimeter.
"You see, Shattered Heart Island is just one of the outer islands. There are eight such islands on the periphery of the Mist Sea. The farther you go inside, the denser the islands become. As for Shattered Heart Island, it's just responsible for supplying materials to the islands inside—food, fuel, and... living people."
