After walking for 20 minutes I found a herd of elk. I don't waste a second before forming 3 ice spikes and shooting them at one. Since they were already being cautious of me they ended up running. Despite that one gets hit in the legs rendering it unable to really move.
For whatever reason I'm in a slightly bad mood. My head hurts a bit, and I just generally feel very bad. Because of this bad mood of mine I go over and stab the elk in the head with my spear. It's body goes limp soon after. I waste no time when I use my spear to start cutting the hide off. After finishing that I eat my fill. With my hunger satiated I feel a little better, but now I'm very dirty.
'I didn't get injured during my fight, so I don't really need to go back. I should go wash up now since I feel a bit dirty. I'd rather not leave this elk here though. Should I bring it with me? I can make something to drag it with. The only problem is that it will be rather heavy.'
After thinking for a bit I decide not to bring it with me. I'll come back later and see if it's still there. With this problem resolved I start walking to the river. Along the way I try to figure out why I'm in such a bad mood.
'Perhaps this mood of mine has something to do with fighting the bear? That doesn't really make sense though. I didn't kill it or anything. Now that I think about it, that ice spike was still in its side. I highly doubt it's going to get that out. It will never recover properly.
I'll have to deal with that later. Maybe I'm in such a bad mood because I slept in the snow? It can also be because I exhausted myself in the fight. Then again I've exhausted myself plenty of times using my powers when training in preparation. The snow seems like it's the likeliest thing. But why would sleeping in snow put me in such a bad mood? I slept wonderfully when I did it in my home.'
I try to ask the Lower Winter Sprites why that is, but they don't know either. I forget it for the time being as I make it to the river. While there I see something I never could have expected. The bear I fought yesterday is now here. Why is that so surprising? Well that in itself isn't, but the fact that it's currently passed out next to the river certainly is.
After thinking for a bit I walk over to it. Despite my not so subtle approach it doesn't even move. After getting close to it I go over to its back and gently touch it with my spear. I end up poking it a couple times with varying degrees of pressure. Despite this it doesn't react in the slightest.
'Ok, so it is certainly passed out. Not much of a point in asking why either. I see some blood around here alongside a dead wolf a bit in the forest. This bear has a lot more wounds than before. Not to mention this ice spike of mine is still embedded into it's thigh area. I'm surprised it even got this far with that. I can take it out now, but there is no doubt it will cause a lot of pain.
Well if I freeze that point around its body then maybe I can avoid causing it too much pain. Either way it's most likely going to wake up after I do it, or rather when I'm doing it. I can bind it down with chains of ice. The only problem with that is that making chains strong enough to hold this thing down will take a lot out of me. Assuming I can make chains strong enough in the first place.'
I think for a bit before deciding that thinking so hard about it is going to make me more annoyed. I climb up onto the bear and start freezing its thigh area. After doing that for about 7 minutes I stop since I don't want to accidentally hurt it more. The bear isn't any closer to waking up at this point.
I warm myself up a bit before throwing my spear to the side. I form claws of ice on my hands before digging them deep into the side of the bear. I bend my knees and prepare myself for what's to come next. After a second I use all my arm strength in combination with my legs to pull on the ice spike.
Not even a second after I start pulling on it the bear wakes up. It struggles a bit, but it fails to even lift and turn its body onto its feet. It's too weak and exhausted to do much of anything. I feel a little bad for it, but I don't falter. At the end of the day I'm helping it by taking this out. Even if taking it out causes immense pain it'll die if it stays in.
The ice spike isn't exactly large though. While it's around 3 inches wide and 6 inches long it shouldn't be that difficult to get it out. However the blood around it has already been frozen to it. The meat, fat, and other things touching it has as well. I doubt it's hit a bone which is good for it.
Either way about after 4 seconds of pulling the ice spike starts getting pulled. The bear's body is very tense. Soon enough the ice spike gets pulled out and I fall back onto the snow. At the sudden decrease in pressure and pain the bear's body relaxes a bit. Of course there is still a significant amount of pain, despite the fact that I did freeze the area a good amount.
I lay there for a bit and look at the ice spike covered in blood.
"Wait a second, why did I pull it out? I could've just dispersed the Lower Ice Sprites and the ice spike would be no more."
I look up at the sky. I wasted not only my time, but I caused the bear a lot of unnecessary pain. I sigh to myself as I get up. I don't feel bad still, but I do feel slightly responsible. With that in mind I walk over to the head of the bear. It's still conscious. That much is evident by the mean glare its giving me. Of course the drool coming out of its mouth is rather disgusting.
"Don't look at me like that. You're the one who got beat by a little girl. Of course the pain I caused is completely unnecessary. With that in mind, and the fact that you still can't move by yourself still, I will take care of you for a couple days. I'll get some herbs I prepared from my home, and then I'll come back here.
I'll give you some wolf meat from the wolves you killed over there. You'll have to wash yourself when you can though. Some of the herbs will help with the healing and other things. You can thank me later of course."
I pat its head, but I have to quickly pull my hand back as the bear tries to bite my arm. I kick a bit of snow on its head as I turn and leave. After about an hour I return with the herbs. My breathing is a little heavy since I basically ran.
'Ok, now I just need to mash these up and put them over his wounds. I'll give him a bone or two to bite down on this time.'
