CHAPTER 95: ITS BEEN HARD GRANDMA

Diana stirred, blinking slowly as consciousness returned. The room was quiet, save for the soft ticking of a clock. She sat up, her head pounding slightly. A wave of nausea washed over her, but she pushed it down, determined to be strong.

She took a quick shower and padded downstairs in her pajamas. The kitchen was alive with activity – the scent of steak and sauce filled the air. Nicodemus, the butler, looked up, a polite smile on his face.

"Uncle Nic, have you seen my husband?" she asked.

"Oh, good evening, ma'am. He left with his brother Jared not long after he carried you upstairs," Nicodemus replied.

"And Grandma?" Diana inquired.

"She's in her flat," Nicodemus responded gently.

"In her flat? I thought she stayed here," Diana questioned.

"No, ma'am. Your husband arranged a new place for her."

"Okay, I want to see her," Diana decided.

Nicodemus sent one of the maids to show Diana where Suzanne was staying. Diana reached Suzanne's door and pressed the bell. Suzanne quickly opened the door and yelped in surprise upon seeing Diana.

"Diana, I was just about to come over," Suzanne exclaimed.

Diana smiled and hugged her. "Well, I came to spend time with you so we could chat."

"Come on in then," Suzanne said.

Diana turned to the maid. "Please tell Nicodemus that I will have dinner here with Grandma."

The maid nodded and left. Diana walked into the house with Suzanne. The apartment was simply decorated. They moved towards the sofa and sat down together. Suzanne held Diana's hands and looked at her.

"Diana, dear, how are you feeling?"

Diana smiled. "Better now, Grandma. Thank you."

"You look beautiful, my daughter, even though you are of color. And you are also very graceful and kind," Suzanne complimented.

Diana blushed and bent her head. "Thank you, Grandma."

"So, how has living with my son been like?" Suzanne asked.

Diana raised her head and sighed, looking directly into the old woman's face. "It's not been easy." She suddenly adopted a sad expression and sniffed. "I'm trying, and I will keep trying."

Suzanne squeezed her hand. "I know, dear. But you're strong. You'll get through this."

A wave of gratitude washed over Diana. She felt understood, cherished. In that moment, the weight of the day seemed to lift.

Suzanne tapped her hands and nodded, sighing. "So, do you know everything now?" Suzanne asked.

"Well, I assume I do," Diana responded, "but I'm not so sure, especially when it comes to your grandson."
