Other Taoists, when summoning the Five Ghosts, must set up the Summoning Ghost Formation and offer sacrifices. Not to mention summoning a big shot like the Ghost King—one bit less capable and they can't summon him, or once summoned, they fear they can't send him away.
Yet when Qin Liuxi summoned the Ghost King, she did not even offer sacrifices. She simply drew a Summoning Ghost Talisman, stacked a few high-quality gold ingots, burned incense and talismans, walked the Five Ghosts Gang Steps in the courtyard, and at the same time, she pinched her fingers into a mantra and chanted a spell: "Heaven is clear, the earth is spirit, soldiers follow the seal's command, orders executed promptly, I, disciple Qin Liuxi, request the presence of the Eastern Ghost King Chen Kui, hurry, by the decree of Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, swiftly as the law commands!"
