Third person POV
After some time, someone opened the door. It was Haru and David, who had been searching for Kichi for over 16 minutes. "Kichi-kun, what are you doing here?" Haru asked. Kichi and Rachel heard and noticed that and looked at them.
"Oh, hey, Haru-kun," answered Kichi back.
"Rachel?" David said directly to Rachel.
"What are you two doing here?" Haru asked.
Rachel then responded first and apologized to them for her accident that had scared Kichi last time. "Huh? Scared him?" Haru asked back while being confused by what she was saying. Kichi then came forward and explained what had happened on the school rooftop.
Now, Haru and David got it and were astonished by it. "You can summon swords with magic?" David commented. Rachel then stutteringly replied, "Y-Yes, that's my ability called Sword Summoning."
"Guys, be careful with her," Kichi said to Haru and David, "she had a sad and tragic ability because of her ability."
"Woah, what? Really?" Haru was very surprised.
"Yes," Rachel calmly responded back, before retelling her backstory in a summarized version. A few minutes later, Haru and David were shocked and, like Kichi, felt bad for her. Kichi was positive for their sympathy for her. After that, all of them left the classroom and went to the school rooftop to eat lunch together.
A couple of days passed by, and it seemed that Rachel had become friends with them. But still, she has trust issues, and Kichi had to calm her nerves every time she gets into a panic attack. But one Wednesday morning, there was an announcement for the latest mission as part of their assassin training. This was done once a month, and the teachers and high-ranking ones decided on it based on the crime and activities of real-life criminal groups, especially ones abroad. And so, upon hearing that, Class 1-A was shocked, especially Kichi, Haru, and Rachel.
"A mission?" Rachel asked.
"A real one?" one of the students asked as well.
"Yes," replied Ayato, "and all of you will be pairs of two people each for this mission. As for the details of the mission, you'll be taking down a well-known, but not too notorious syndicate in Osaka City. That syndicate had been committing human trafficking, bribery, and smuggling illegal substances and guns into the country for quite some time now. Now, pick your partner. I'll assign codes for your pairs."
Then to Rachel. "Rachel, since you had trust issues and social anxiety, I'll pick for you."
Rachel was surprised but accepted it with relief.
Because of this, many in class began picking, while some of the boys wanted to be Rachel's mission partner. These boys began raising their hands to get Ayato's favor.
"Me!"
"No, me!"
"No, me, me!"
But eventually, Ayato looked at Kichi. "Sasaki Kichi, you'll be Rachel's partner for this mission." Kichi was shocked, and the boys who wanted to be Rachel's partner were fuming with anger and jealousy.
"That guy…"
"Why him?!"
"Well, because you boys had questionable intentions on Rachel," replied Ayato with a valid and logical reason, "while Kichi doesn't."
Despite that, the boys are still angry and jealous of Kichi.
"It's because you guys had questionable intentions on Rachel-chan," Kichi thought, paraphrasing Ayato's reason.
He then stood and said to Ayato, "I'll do my best to be Rachel's partner and help out in her emotional and mental needs."
"Yes, very good, Kichi-kun," responded Ayato brightly, "Mission's going to start tomorrow. We'll leave at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning."
As Kichi sat back, the boys then sighed in defeat and gave up fighting to be with Rachel in this mission. Meanwhile, Haru and David became a pair, while Catalina and Cristy did the same as well.
