Of course, the wars in Xeno were not like the wars in Terran, with the system rules and all.
Therefore, in Xeno, there was little to do in the attacking territory as people on the defense. During wars, more likely than not, the people who would be attacking had already gone through the array.
Not to mention, it'd be too dangerous to attack upfront because they'd be extremely outnumbered and she would never ask that of her people.
What they could do from the other side was to either stop reinforcements coming through the array (in one way or another—without sacrificing themselves), or take the token.
