That morning Levi woke them both up early for the complimentary breakfast downstairs as they had their breakfast Levi made small talk over coffee. He stabbed his waffles while vesper munched on some fresh fruit and bacon. "It sucks your allergic to eggs you know." He said this as he stabbed his fried egg. "It's a curse I know I can never eat an omelette." Vesper said with a giggle as Levi had syrup on his chin. Everything felt normal and peaceful for once it was hard to believe everything that had happened to them so far was happening still. "Levi? Do you think things will always be like this?" She said suddenly.
"What do you mean vesper?"
"Peaceful, fun, happy." She described steadily.
"I'll be honest it won't always be like this, but we can cherish this moment and more like it in the future." He smiled softly at her a soft expression in his eyes with an ever so faint ring of red.
After breakfast they packed their things and hit the road once again stopping only once for drinks and a pee break. Levi hummed along with the radio as they crossed state lines. They were officially in Kentucky and nearly to Levi's parents place.
"Levi should we be afraid of anything?"
"Just the little monster tyrants my siblings can be."
"Oh they can't be that bad. You're probably the worst one."
He chuckled. "You have no idea what your on for."
After a few more long hours of driving they came to a long winding gravel road that pulled up to an older farm house.
"This is it." He said as he parked the car and a man with a shotgun stepped out on the porch pointing it at the car.
"Uh.. Levi there is a man with a gun pointed at us."
"Yeah that's my dad just stay put." He stepped out with his hands in the air looking at the man.
"I'm not here for trouble dad."
"Levi?" The man set the gun down walking towereds Levi at first to vesper it seemed as though the man was about to hug Levi as if a long missed reunion but then Levi was punched square in the face onto the hood of his own car and the man grabbed Levi by the shirt yelling gibberish.
"The hell you here for kid you wait 9 years to come say a word to me and now you show up on my doorstep in some sports car uninvited why I ought to just!"
Vesper stepped out of the car concerned the wind blowing against her sundress.
"Levi is everything alright?" She asked worried.
"It's fine dear get back in the car."
"Hold it little lady." The man stared at Levi then the girl.
"You have a lady friend and I swear I will punch you again if you say she is just a friend."
"Yes dad she's my girlfriend."
"Lead with that next time kid you'd be better off." He let Levi go.
"Come here sweetheart don't mind my poor excuse for a son you go right on inside and make yourself right at home."
Vesper nodded as she skirted around the boys going in and Levi was left alone with his dad.
"It's been awhile I know. "
Levi was then punched in the gut hard enough to drop to his knees. His father turning and going inside whilst he tried to recover.. Once inside I stumbled into the kitchen drinking water from a glass trying to catch my breath. My step-Mother walking up beside me patting my back.
"Hey Elizabeth." I mutter as she makes me sit.
"I've told you just call me mom Levi, but what brings you home with the lovely young lady?"
That's vesper my girlfriend. I'm home because of work."
"That's depressing" She says as she puts a bandaid on my chin. "So what's going on with work?"
"Demonic possession." I say casually.
"Your dad's not gonna like that he may try to just kill you."
"I'm aware it's my dad after all I wouldn't have the easy way." I roll my eyes as she rubs my shoulders.
With a gentle squeeze she mutters. "Your sisters are upstairs and you have a younger brother too. Your dad's stopped the work you do for them. I hope you understand."
I nod taking her hand and giving her a gentle kiss. "Either way I have to face the facts."
( I apologize for the long break and the short chapter I'll update more and try to drop a chapter at least once a week. )
