Chapter 5 - The Age of Awakening

All of humanity heard it.

A voice, echoing across the world, undeniable and absolute.

But for the awakened, it was different.

They didn't just hear it. They saw it.

A translucent screen flickered into existence before their eyes—hovering in the air, following their every movement. Words, clear and simple, written in a language everyone could understand.

And above them, in the vast sky where the towers stretched beyond sight, a message burned like fire across the heavens.

[THE TOWER HAS BEEN OPENED.]

[THE FIGHT FOR THE HOLY GRAIL BEGINS.]

For the first time, the towers that had been untouchable for five years had granted an opportunity.

A game-like system had appeared, something foreign yet oddly familiar. All awakened could see their stats, their skills, everything about their abilities laid bare before them.

And then, another message.

[SECOND FLOOR UNLOCKING IN: 7 DAYS.]

Confusion spread like wildfire.

The first floor was open? Could they enter now? Why a delay for the second floor? And most importantly—what was waiting for them inside?

As panic and excitement swept through the awakened communities, another announcement followed. One that changed everything.

[MORTALS MAY NOW AWAKEN.]

[FIRST FLOOR ACCESS GRANTED TO ALL.]

And just like that, the world was rewritten.

For five years, only the fortunate few had been awakened. Those who had stumbled upon power. Those who had survived its chaotic birth. Those who had clawed their way to the top, becoming humanity's new elite.

But now? Anyone could awaken.

The Tower of Champions had issued its challenge. The whole world was invited.

The Rise of Humanity

At first, it was chaos.

People flooded towards the nearest towers, desperate for a chance to awaken. Some succeeded, unlocking powers they never could have imagined. Others vanished, swallowed by the first floor, never seen again.

Governments scrambled to maintain order. Some imposed restrictions, attempting to regulate entry, but they were powerless to stop the flood of desperate souls. Those who awakened found themselves suddenly thrust into a new world, caught between opportunity and peril.

The first year saw the rise of factions—groups of newly awakened individuals banding together for safety and strength. Some sought to train and grow, while others descended into lawlessness, using their newfound abilities for destruction.

But as the years passed, the system became understood.

3 years later – 2026

The first major breakthrough occurred. A level 20 warrior, after years of training, advanced beyond their limits, achieving Second Grade Awakening.

It was the first time anyone had ever evolved their power.

This discovery changed everything. It meant there were higher levels of strength. That the Tower's challenges were not static.

If one person could advance, then so could others.

5 years later – 2028

Many more reached Second Grade Awakening, pushing past level 20.

And then came the subclasses.

For the first time, awakened individuals began developing unique abilities, diverging beyond their original roles.

A Warrior could become a Sword Saint or a Titan Berserker.

A Magician could become a Lightning Sage or an Abyss Sorcerer.

A Supporter could evolve into a Divine Healer or a Tactical Commander.

With this Second Awakening, power was no longer linear. Each individual became unique.

It was no longer simply a race to level up. It became a game of choice, of growth, of forging one's own path.

The Struggle for the Tower

10 years later – 2033

Humanity had achieved the impossible.

They crossed the 9th floor.

Each floor of the tower had proven to be a world of its own, a battlefield unlike any seen before. Monstrous creatures, ancient trials, and battles against things that defied human comprehension.

The 3rd floor was an endless desert of shifting sands and hidden horrors. The 5th floor, an eternal night where creatures lurked beyond sight. The 8th floor, a ruined city, where the echoes of the past whispered secrets that drove men mad.

But with time and power, humanity conquered them one by one.

Until they reached the 10th floor.

And everything stopped.

For two years, no one could advance. No one could even enter.

Something was wrong.

The tower had barred entry, and no one knew why.

Until, finally—

A Second Grade Awakened at level 50 stepped forward.

And the barrier shattered.

The Formation of Power

With the Towers open, humanity was forced to adapt in ways never seen before.

A governing system was established, bringing order to the chaos.

Nations recognized the importance of the awakened and formed alliances.

Guilds and associations were founded, dedicated to training new awakened warriors.

Safe zones were secured, ensuring humanity wouldn't be wiped out by the ever-growing dangers.

The world had become a battlefield, but now it was an organized one.

With the Towers offering vast resources, wars were no longer fought over land or money—but over the right to enter higher floors.

Different floors meant different worlds.

Different rules.

Different monsters.

Different rewards.

Yet, despite the chaos, the Tower remained fair.

A system was discovered—level restrictions.

Higher-leveled awakened could not enter the lower floors, ensuring newcomers had a fighting chance.

The first floor remained mostly safe, a training ground for those newly awakened.

The balance was maintained, ensuring that no one—not even the most powerful—could monopolize everything.

The First Survivor

18 years later – 2041

The world held its breath.

For nearly a decade, countless warriors, sorcerers, and strategists had attempted the 10th floor.

None had returned.

And then—

One did.

A single man stumbled out from the depths of the tower. His body was unharmed, but his eyes… empty.

He was level 97.

The highest level ever recorded.

But something was wrong.

He didn't speak. Didn't react. Didn't remember.

When asked what he had seen inside the 10th floor, he only shook his head.

And when asked if he would enter again—

He refused.

No one knew what had happened inside.

No one knew why he had lost his memories.

And no one knew what lay beyond.

But one thing was clear.

The Tower was not just a test.

It was a graveyard.

And whatever waited beyond the 10th floor was something humanity was not yet ready to face.
