(Jason's POV)
I walked out of the infirmary and saw that both Lucy and Mavis were standing there.
"How is he?" Mavis walked up to me with a concerned look
I was cleaning my hand with a rag as I looked down, "He's sleeping." I said, "It took longer than I expected."
Lucy smiled slightly, "Is he okay?"
I nodded, "His body is no longer overheated." I said, "As for his pain, I can only assume it's gone because he's sleeping peacefully."
It was an hour after I had decided to go through with what Felicity had suggested to do with Erion's condition; taking the flesh of Erion's dragon form and infusing it with his human form using my Sage God Slayer magic.
I was reluctant about it, considering I didn't want Erion to turn into a dragon due to the risk of him losing control and the possibility of him being hurt by extracting his flesh somehow.
But the battle we just had kinda solved that issue for me. Ajeel's ships hurt him badly and his flesh crumbled, somehow.
I used that flesh and used my magic to enchant it into him, infusing his human baby form with the power of his dragon flesh. I had no idea what that did specifically but Felicity made it sound that both forms act as different entities in a way and doing this will make it that he's one with the Dragon form and stabilize his aging.
I don't really get it and the Warmind only knows what little information she has from the available knowledge of all the world. If there's someone who would explain this thoroughly, it'll be a human that turns into a dragon. So either Irene or Acnologia. I doubt The Dragon King would be willing to explain and Irene would keep it to herself.
"This is not right...." I said, "He shouldn't be in this position."
I hate it. The fact that my own son is placing himself in a dangerous position, no matter how strong he is in his Dragon form. I hate it. From the moment he was born, till now. It makes me feel terrible, knowing and watching him get hurt.
Mavis held my hand, "Hey..." She said softly, "It's gonna be okay...."
I looked at her, she was giving me an assuring smile.
I sighed, "I don't know, Mavis..." I said, "I don't want him to suffer.....He got hurt badly....I don't want that...."
Lucy walked up to us, "I-If it makes you feel better..." She started, "He was well aware of himself, he only turned into a dragon to help us. He did destroy several of the ships and targeted the Shield right away."
I looked at her, "It doesn't." I said, "He knows very well I don't want him to be put in danger and yet he does that."
"He's a child, Jason." Mavis said softly, "His only instinct is to fight. He doesn't know any better...."
"That doesn't change the fact that I should keep him from getting in harm's way.." I said clenching my fists, "A father shouldn't let his child walk to the face of danger....."
"Hey.." Mavis said soothingly, "Calm down..."
I felt as she rubbed my arm gently. I looked at her, she was giving me a smile as she pressed closer against me.
"I can't calm down." I said
"Relax, okay?" Mavis said, "Let's go back in there and see if he's okay? Lucy, can you go and check on the others?"
I looked at Lucy, she was giving us an odd look. I didn't understand it, I think it was a mixture of surprise and a bit of envy. Maybe it was the way that Mavis was acting at the moment, pressing against me as she held my arm and tried to calm me down.
"O-Okay..." Lucy nodded and walked away
Mavis then patted my chest, "Come." She told me as she opened the door and walked in it, "Let's see him."
She pulled me alongside her and I followed her inside. We walked towards the bed where Erion laid, he was wrapped in a blanket as he slept. His small head rested on a small pillow as a pacifier was on his mouth.
He looked so peaceful, sleeping like that.
Mavis stood next to the bed and looked at him, "Look at him, Jason." She said with a smile, "Isn't he precious?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I suppose he is." I said
Mavis chuckled, "He's so big for a child that's a couple of days old." She said, "Yet, he's so small."
I nodded, "Y-Yea." I said, "He is."
Mavis patted his cheek gently, "His human form makes you forget how intimidating his dragon form is, doesn't it?" she said, "So full of power, full of rage and destruction....it reminds me of someone...."
She looked over at me, giving me a soft smile.
I raised an eyebrow, "Me?" I asked, "W-What is that supposed to mean?"
"We may have met right after it happened, but I know all about it, Jason." Mavis said, "Right after Kagura lost her child, your child, you were so full of rage that it was almost impossible to control. Isn't that right?"
I frowned, "Yea..." I said, "But what does that-"
"Erion's Dragon form is completely black." She continued, "He wields a black light similar to yours, does he not?"
"What are you trying to say?" I asked her, "What do you mean, Mavis?"
"He's you, Jason." She said looking down at Erion, "This child is you, in a way. He's a part of you. His dragon form is a representation of your anger, your rage, your uncontrollable destruction."
"Mavis, I haven't felt that way since.." I started
"Since you killed Zancrow." She cut me off, "I know."
"Yea, then why-" I started
"You felt empty, devoid of feelings." She cut me off again, "Like killing him didn't achieve anything. But that wasn't the case, Jason. It did achieve something. You felt like justice was dealt and when it came to that specific case, your mind was put at ease. But deep down, you were still angry, you still hated everything and wanted to lash out in a fit of rage. And I know why."
She then looked at me with a serious expression.
"M-Mavis, what are you..." I started
I think I know what she meant. And I didn't want it to be the case.
"Kagura's child wasn't the first one you lost, was it?" She said, "I was there, Jason. I saw your memories, I know the pain you suffered, I know it all. The girl that took her life, Jason...."
"She was pregnant with your child too, right?"
