Saffron PoV
Work went by as slow as it did yesterday, despite keeping myself busy with whatever was available.
My mind went to my baby girl. Anis was growing so fast. Before I knew it, she would be a young woman. The thought was bittersweet, which in turn made me feel selfish. I didn't want to miss a single moment of her childhood.
I shook my head, trying to clear these conflicting thoughts. I knew I couldn't let them consume me. Anis needed me to be present and supportive, to be the strong, loving father she deserved.
Suddenly, the phone rang. I picked it up and heard babbling and familiar giggles.
"Da! Me wal!" Anis said.
"Wal?" I asked, blinking.
Rose giggled as she likely took the cord phone from her. "She means walked."
"Wal!" Anis repeated.
"You were having her practice walking?" I asked, my lips curling up slightly.
"Yeah. She did better than before. Still a little wobbly, though."
"Pingui wal!" Anis said.
