Ray Thornton was successfully diverted onto a different topic, and immediately started complaining over the phone to Jeremy Thompson.
"Enough with the complaints, it's already October. You better come up with a plan soon. If you don't meet this year's target, be careful or Joseph might call to scold you from London."
Jeremy Thompson finished with a laugh, "My dinner's here, I'm going to eat now. I've been listening to your complaints on an empty stomach, so spare a thought for my stomach."
Just as he was about to hang up, Ray Thornton quickly stopped him, "Oh right, Romney's back from London. He just called, asking if we want to play cards tonight or go to the Beacon Hill Clubhouse."
"Not going!" Jeremy Thompson declined without a second thought, "What's with Romney? Coming back from London but instead of dating Gale Summer, he asks us out. He has no sense of being a fiance."
