A figurehead.
Why would there be a figurehead on the Anzhai Maru?
It was a stone sculpture of a goddess, not as large as those found on Western ships, somewhat mottled, but lifelike.
The goddess's upper body leaned slightly forward, her figure plump and graceful. It seemed as if the sea breeze was blowing right at her, her thin garments faintly outlining her full and elastic body, the texture of her dress and the carved folds were breathtaking, with the fluttering hem and the hands circling in front of her chest creating extremely smooth lines, the stone statue pulsated with a vigor like that of a living being.
The last time Kamiya saw the Anzhai Maru, it was too far away and he didn't seem to notice this small figurehead.
But now, it was difficult not to notice it as the figurehead was emitting a strange light, seemingly resonating with the aura from within the Munakata Taisha.
It felt as though Kanihime and Isohime were standing here.
