Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"vroom..."

The sound of jeeps approaching could be heard as the soldiers made way for them to park. Five military-grade jeeps stopped in the free space made by the soldiers. A middle-aged man, who seemed thirty years old, came out of the lead jeep, along with some other men in uniform.

They all stood orderly while one of the men walked towards the car in the middle and opened the door, giving a sharp salute as a slightly older man came out of the car. The man who came out wore a different uniform, which had a badge of three stars and an honored badge on his shoulder.

"General Commander," they all saluted, seeing the man walk towards Jeffrey, who was also in a military salute pose.

"Report, sir. The one suspect is said to be in the building, while the remaining ones look to be heading beneath the ground as we speak," Jeffrey said in a high-tuned voice.

"That's unexpected. Follow them through the reactor; two should stay, and the remaining should follow," the General said, not wasting any time, as he walked back into the vehicle he came out from, making a fast reverse as they made their chase after the reactor indication.

Jeffrey, on the other hand, paid no more attention to the newly arrived soldiers. He picked up his communicator to respond to it.

"What's the status, Commander Gordon?"

"We are moving in since it seems like the backup has arrived. I would need your cooperation with the walls."

"Any time you are ready, Commander."

"After the count of 1...2...3...Go," Gordon responded, while he signaled to his comrades to also start moving in with caution.

The comrades, having received the signal, rushed in, only to see an empty room. At the same time, on the outside, the soldiers started to open fire at the iron, which had covered the walls into the town hall.

This left Klaus in a dilemma. All he could do was cover the hole with the bed bunk, and it was at that moment the special operation rushed in, pointing guns at him, while the iron wall was also breached.

"It seems you chose to stay behind. Do you think only you could face the large numbers of us?" Gordon stepped out from the midst of the black-armed uniform soldiers.

Klaus said nothing, raising his hands into the air to signify his surrendering to them.

On the other side, inside the underground railway, three shadowy figures could be seen moving forward in a tired manner. Heavy breathing resounded all over the underground as their footsteps marched against the ground.

Ryan, feeling extreme fatigue, staggered downwards, pressing himself against the wall to his left side.

"The underground, though it was abandoned, still had its proper lighting and ventilation. One could deduce from this that the railway might soon resume its use, after all, it can't be demolished, considering the amount of people and buildings atop it."

"Is Klaus still coming?" Ryan asked, slowing down his pace, along with Claire.

Claire, in turn, responded to his slow pace, as sweat dripped down her face.

"I can't hear his movements; I feel something is not right here..." she replied, panting heavily, trying to catch her breath.

"Why did you say that?"

"Klaus couldn't have been caught, right...right?"

"He can't; don't jinx him with that mouth of yours; he'll come rushing towards us soon," Ryan, trying to comfort himself and his sister, said.

Just when he was about to adjust his support on Rein at her injured arm, he felt something strange while looking at the injury.

"What's the problem, and what's with the face?" Claire asked, noticing the change in atmosphere.

"Something doesn't feel right. Why's the injury blinking at the edge?" Ryan said, while indicating for Claire to see what he had just discovered.

Claire, after seeing this, felt flagger basted. It had to be known that it took them great effort to get to the route they were on now, but this new discovery had just shattered their hope of escaping.

They both felt great pressure in their hearts, also the no sight of Klaus had made their guess be confirmed; the smartest amongst them had been caught.

"Oh sh*t, why did..." Just as Ryan was about to cuss his lungs out, a figure appeared before them, scaring them to the extreme.

Claire fainted in an instant, while Ryan just fell to the ground, leaving Rein, who was still unconscious, to have a free fall to the ground. But luckily, the figure grabbed her at the nick of time before introducing himself.

"No need to fear; I'm no foe," he said with a smile, glancing towards the injured arm, examining it with caution, as his expression changed consistently from a frown to a grin, then finally to shock.

"We need to get out of here now," he said earnestly, surveying thesurroundings before scooping up Rein and helping Ryan to his feet.

Claire, still unconscious, was cradled in Ryan's arms as the mysterious figure led them through the winding tunnels of the underground railway.

As they walked, the figure's expression remained grim, his eyes fixed on Rein's injured arm.

"What's going on?" Ryan asked, his voice shaking slightly.

"The bullet...it's not just any ordinary bullet," the figure replied, his voice low and urgent.

"What do you mean?" Ryan pressed, his grip on Claire tightening.

The figure hesitated before responding.

"It's a tracker bullet. It's sending out a signal, and if we don't get it out of her, it'll lead them straight to us."

Ryan's eyes widened in horror as the figure quickened their pace, leading them deeper into the tunnels.

They had to move fast, before the trackers closed in on them.
