Down in the living room, Old Madame Sheldon and Emily Collins were discussing something, and the sound of cheerful laughter spread throughout the space.
Hearing footsteps, they both turned their heads at the same time, and upon noticing Amelia Clarke following Owen Moreland, both of them brightened up and immediately got up and rushed over.
"Amelia, did you sleep well last night?"
"My dear, are you hungry? Come, let Grandma take you to breakfast."
Old Madame Sheldon and Emily Collins warmly each took one of Amelia Clarke's hands and led her toward the dining hall, speaking to her naturally as if they hadn't seen the scene upstairs.
Amelia Clarke's ears were still faintly red, and she politely greeted the two elderly ladies, "Grandma Collins, Grandma Sheldon..."
"Why do you still sound so distant?" Emily Collins said unhappily, "Call me 'Outsider Grandma.'"
"Exactly," Old Madame Sheldon agreed. "It's time to start calling us 'Grandma.'"
