I could sense him smirking as he carried me to the bed. "Bed or chair?"
I kept quiet for a bit, trying to reason, then he spoke again. "Erica! Answer me."
"Chair," I said abruptly.
The Hospital
It had been two days since Shelly gave birth to a stillborn and insisted on them not taking it to the chimney.
"We need to wait for Benjamin to come; he is the father." She told
She believed Benjamin had to have a final say about the matter.
She knew he had a weakness for babies, seeing from how he reacted with Erica's child.
Shelly slowly sat upright, nursing her wounds in the hospital bed, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the thin blanket draped over her legs. Her eyes darted to and from the door at every distant footstep, hope flickering and then fading as strangers passed by.
The antiseptic scent of the hospital seemed to intensify her anxiety, each breath a reminder of her isolation, her loss of the baby.
