Chapter 14 - First Point

Finishing the tour of "A Pinch Of Alchemy", Brune and Ren make their way back home before it gets too dark.

"So, your day will consist of you going to morning classes for archery, then later working for Teo, then you will come back and study with the other kids. This will be a lot for someone your age, You can quit whenever," says Ren.

"Do I really have to study, as I can already read and write," replied Brune.

"If you can convince Trisha, then I will have no complaint on that matter."

The fire in Brune's eye lit up as he was confident in convincing Trisha.

Ren's smile changed to a serious look as he told Brune, "Just a heads up, I can do everything I can to prepare you for the dungeons, but if you aren't an aura user, you won't be able to go through the gates,".

"Oh, that's it, we should be good then," says Brune as he smiles.

"Haha.." Ren laughs awkwardly.

"I'm serious, though, Brune, you can only use aura once your aura chamber is almost fully formed. In most cases, it doesn't start forming until someone turns four."

Walking side by side with other Brune stops.

Turning around to look at Brune, Ren couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Brune, using the invisible hand, was floating about six feet off the ground. After countless trials and errors, reading and practicing on his own, Brune found out how to use the invisible hand. Using aura to connect to the invisible hand, the user could use the invisible to pull and push the user. With that, the users could achieve flight.

The mental fatigue and aura drain from using the invisible hand for flight were extremely exhausting, so Brune could only maintain it for a few seconds.

Slowly, Brune focused on descending.

On the way down, he could see the shock on Ren's face.

( Thumph! )

Landing successfully, Brune commented, "See, I told you, I can use aura.".

Curious about Brune's progress as an aura user, Ren grabs Brune's hand before telling him, "Never show this in front of others, but let's quickly go back home,".

Nodding his head yes, Brune and Ren quickly made their way back to the orphanage.

( Creak! )

Ren opens the door before the two make their way into the backyard, where they are stopped in the kitchen.

"Hey, you two are back?" asked Trisha as she prepared dinner.

"Oh yes, we will be busy in the backyard, come on, Brune," Ren urged Brune to follow after him.

"Ok, I will have one of the kids come get you guys once dinner is ready," replied Trisha.

Making their way into the backyard, Ren asks, "Do you know what power you just used?"

"Yeah, I heard most people call it the invisible hand," replied Brune.

"Can you smile really big?"

Smiling as big as he could, Ren came up close and checked Brune's teeth.

"Doesn't look like tigret teeth, the only thing weird about you is that you're a half breed."

"Hey, I'm not weird," says Brune with a displeased look on his face.

"Haha, I'm sorry, didn't mean to say that out loud, you're just unique,"

"But that's the weird part, you don't have any tigret traits, so I'm confused about how you can use something that only tigret aura users can, hmmm." Ren was stumped on the possibility.

"Does that matter? I can go into dungeons because I can use aura," Brune replies.

"Anyways, sit down with your legs crossed,".

Waiting for Brune to sit down, Ren sits behind him.

Ren places his hand on Brune's back before saying, "Close your eyes and wait for my instructions."

The soft tone that Ren usually speaks with is now gone as he went back into instructor mode.

The flow of aura coming out of Ren slowly seeped into Brune.

Brune could feel a gentle coldness spread from his back, slowly coming towards his diaphragm.

Ren's aura spread towards Brune's aura chamber.

"Hmm, so he does have an aura chamber."

"Seems like it's almost done forming."

Slowly, Ren's aura envelopes Brune's aura chamber.

"Even though it isn't completely formed, a link with the first point shouldn't be too hard." Ren thought to himself.

Having his whole aura chamber covered in aura, the cold felt on his back spread throughout his entire body. Brune felt as if he were naked in the frozen tundra.

Noticing the shivers from Brune, Ren tells him, "There is only one way for your body to feel warmth again. You must connect your aura chamber to one of your aura points. It probably feels as though no matter how hard your body tries to push out the cold, you can't, huh?"

"Can this guy shut up and just tell me what to do!" Brune thought to himself as he shivered.

"The cold is trying to leave your body, but keeps getting pulled back by your aura chamber and aura points. The five points in your body that sucking back in the cold are your aura points. You also feel those five things wiggling around your aura chamber like worms. Those are your aura threads. One should feel as if it is ready to rip from your aura chamber and start moving on its own, with the amount of wiggling it does. Feed it aura and lead it to an aura point, and have it be sucked in by the aura point, that is when you will form a link. It might be hard, as it is challenging to find the aura point's exact loca-"

( Pshhhh! )

Like a switch, the calm flow of aura inside Brune became a vortex as he started feeding the aura thread.

Ren quickly opens his second aura point.

Still, the aura being consumed was too drastic. Once again, he opens another aura point.

The gray aura emitted from Ren was being sucked in by Brune's aura chamber but the flow was finally smooth.

Using the aura and feeding the thread, it was as if he were luring an ant with bait. Knowing exactly where all five points are within his body, the closest point to the most active thread was the point between his eyes. Guiding the thread it got closer and closer to the point until it was ultimately sucked in.

( Poooof! )

A gust of wind burst out of Brune's body before the clear aura emitted from his body distorted the air around him.

"It's about time."

Brune turns back to look at Ren.

Ren could see the big distortion around Brune's eyes, indicating that the first point connected was the one in the head area.

"Was it you who said that?" Brune asked Ren.

"Say what?"

( Shiii! )

The purple in Brune's eyes faded as his eyes started emitting a white light.

Everything was dark, but Brune could hear an older lady's voice.

"Now that you've got your first point connected, always wear the necklace that your mother had. If you want to make a ton of money always keep it on you, Brune, or should I say Bruno,".

"Brune!"

"Brune!"

Coming back to reality, Brune slowly opens his eyes.

Lying on the ground in the backyard, Brune asks, "What happened?"

"You successfully connected your first point, then suddenly passed out." Ren answered.

"Does that normally happen?"

"Hahaha, no, I don't know what is normal anymore, as it's unheard of a kid barely not even two to become an aura user," said Ren in disbelief.

"Hey, Mr. Lorz and Brune, dinner is ready!" shouted Wendy.

"Yeah, we're coming!"

"Come on, Brune, let's go eat," says Ren.

Panting himself off, Brune went inside to eat.

"For dinner, we will be having Pulpin cooked with lern," says Chance as he reveals the meal.

Neither of the two mentioned the events that unfolded in the backyard. Brune and Ren just ate in peace.

"Oh yeah, after dinner we will be having a learning session," says Trisha.

"Pass," replied Brune.

"What was that?" the smile on Trisha's face disappeared.

"I already know how to read, write, and do math," says Brune.

"Ok then, there shouldn't be any problem with me testing you."

"Nope, none,"

"There will be a punishment if you fail."

"Ok, I just won't fail,"

"Haha, ok then," said Trisha with a sinister look on her face.

Finishing dinner, Trisha tested Brune with three tests. The first test was to write every letter in the alphabet, the second was to read a page of a book, and the last test was to solve multiple math problems. Of course, the tests were simple for Brune as he had already learn the human letters and language of the world. The math problems were just simple mathematics and didn't involve complex formulas.

"So am I free from the learning sessions?" Brune asks with a smirk on his face.

"So are you just gonna stop learning altogether?" replied Trisha.

"No, there is still plenty to learn if I want to be an alchemist."

"Ok, so if you promise to keep reading and learning on your own, then I won't bother you with learning with the others."

"Deal!" says Brune.

Sitting around the table in the main room by the entrance, some of the kids had a jealous look while some had a sad look on their faces as they heard Brune won't have to attend the learning sessions.

Chance and Jill both click their tongue.

( Skrrt! )

Brune stands up from his chair before looking up at Ren.

"Starting tomorrow, whenever the others study, we will do our own class outside. For now, get some rest," says Ren.

"Ok, I'm going to my room," Brune replied.

( Thumph! )

Brune shuts the door of his room.

( Skrr! )

Opening the drawer in which he had placed the necklace. Brune takes out the necklace before putting it on.

"It'll probably be a good idea to listen to that lady's voice."

"I want to make a fuck ton of money!"
