His neck stung with pain, and the man on the bed awoke with a start to see a dark figure looming over him. He screamed, "Help..."
Before he could finish the word "help," a wad of newspaper was stuffed into his mouth.

"Ummm!" The man, frightened, nodded repeatedly.
"Did you do something for someone in exchange for your early release from prison?" There was a dangerous tone in Jayden Maguire's voice.
The man was about to shake his head when Jayden Maguire tightened his grip on his neck, "You'd better think carefully before you answer!"
"Ummm..." The man's eyes widened as he dared not nod or shake his head.
"Speak!" the command resonated with an intimidating force.
