Chapter 267 - How About I Fulfill That Little Agreement Of Ours?
"Graaah—!"
With a ferocious roar, Bete charged forward at blistering speed, a whirlwind of fury tearing through the monsters ahead.
His machete flashed, slicing them apart before they could scream, reducing them to ash.
Even their magic stones shattered under his relentless assault, leaving nothing behind.
The werewolf swept through the foes with a frenzied aura, mercilessly crushing any monster in his path.
This was the dungeon's 31st floor—a deceptive paradise.
Sunlight-like rays streamed from crystalline ceilings, bathing vast grasslands in warm light and clean air, a stark contrast to the labyrinth's usual gloom.
Mossy trees dotted the landscape, and a clear river murmured nearby.
Countless crystals lined the ceiling, mimicking a sunlit sky.
Like the 18th floor, it was one of the dungeon's rare special floors.
Unlike that safe zone, however, monsters roamed here, ambushing unwary adventurers.
Its serene beauty could lull the careless to their doom.
Deep in the lower floors, this area hosted not just Level 3 monsters but occasional Level 4s.
For a Level 5 like Bete, though, only a horde like Mahiro's posed a challenge.
Without Anti-Morbule's lure, monsters appeared in mere handfuls—dozens at most—spawned by the dungeon sensing adventurers' presence.
Bete cleared the path ahead, while Level 3 Loki Familia adventurers handled flanking and rear threats.
For them, lower-floor monsters still offered decent exp.
Wielding their weapons with high spirits, they dispatched foes swiftly, matching Bete's fervor if not his intensity.
Everyone seemed eager to showcase their peak performance.
Trailing behind were the Loki Familia's high class adventurers, Mahiro, and the support team carrying supplies.
Traveling with these veterans accelerated Mahiro's descent into the lower floors, far outpacing his earlier groping explorations.
"Everyone's really fired up," Finn observed with a smile, watching the team's vigor.
"No surprise there," Tiona said playfully, sticking close to Mahiro's side.
"It'd be weird if they stayed calm after seeing Mahiro's fight."
"Because of me?" Mahiro asked, chuckling.
He hadn't felt much during his monster-horde slaughter—surrounded, it was just repetitive slashing, thousands of times over.
But for the Loki Familia onlookers, his display had ignited their battle lust.
"Obviously," Tiona replied matter-of-factly.
"It got me all pumped up. What about you, Ais?"
"Hm?" Ais trailing behind, responded with a puzzled tilt of her head.
"Ugh, Ais, you're so dull," Tiona sighed, disappointed.
"Lefiya, you thought Mahiro's fight was thrilling, right?"
"Y-Yes, it was," Lefiya stammered nervously, still haunted by her earlier chanting flub.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought," Ais said, her voice flat but sincere.
She wasn't fixated on Mahiro's one-against-thousands feat itself, but on the source of his power to achieve it.
Her eyes had been locked on him—specifically his back—the entire way.
Mahiro noticed.
'Maybe I should find a moment to satisfy her curiosity,' he mused.
Unlike most adventurers, he didn't treat his status as a sacred secret.
"They're getting too worked up, though," Riveria said with a helpless sigh.
"Wasting energy on the 31st floor will make the next leg tougher."
Expeditions demanded careful stamina management, especially in the lower floors' escalating dangers.
Conserving energy was key.
"It's fine," Finn reassured her with a grin.
"There's a cliff ahead—perfect for camping. We'll stop there today."
Though cliffs seemed risky, they were ideal dungeon rest spots.
Monsters approached from one direction only, simplifying watch and defense.
"Camping already, Captain?" Tione asked, surprised.
It was two hours shy of their usual rest time.
"Thanks to Mahiro, we're ahead of schedule," Finn explained.
"Normally, we'd still be on the 26th or 27th floor. A short break will recharge everyone."
Soon, they reached the cliff Finn described and began setting up camp.
The Loki Familia buzzed with activity—shouted instructions mingling with hurried footsteps as tents rose one by one.
High class adventurers, including Mahiro, were spared such chores, resting off to the side.
"By the way, Ais," Mahiro said suddenly, turning to her, "since we've got some downtime, how about I fulfill that little agreement of ours from earlier?"
