Chapter 442 - Chapter 442

"Today, I'd like to introduce a new teaching assistant to everyone—he's also one of my Pokémon partners."

Dak reached for the third Poké Ball at his waist—the one that had long piqued the curiosity of the crowd.

Most people had already guessed that the Pokémon inside would likely be related to the Ground type.

Not because Dak had said earlier he would be teaching a Ground-type weather move—

But because the previously revealed Lapras and Ho-Oh each corresponded to two of the elemental magic attributes in this world, and Ground was the only one left unrepresented.

"Teacher Dak, hurry and summon your Pokémon already! I've been waiting so long!"

Guiche, the Ground-type mage, looked at Dak with anticipation, tightly clutching the rose in his hand.

That rose was no ordinary flower—

It was his wand.

Guiche's Ground-type magic had already reached the high tier of the "Line" level, and that had only happened recently.

Which was quite impressive.

After all, Guiche had just entered his second year at the magic academy and still had two years left to continue his studies.

Though as the Marshal's son, Guiche had a strong affinity for Ground magic, breaking through to the "Triangle" level wasn't something that could be done easily.

At best, it could be said he'd likely reach the Triangle level before graduation, but exactly when was uncertain.

Guiche might dislike fighting and fear death—

But he took noble honor very seriously.

He dreaded bringing shame to his father or family. So when it came to improving his own strength, he worked hard and stayed diligent.

He truly wanted to help his father.

If his mole-like Ground-type familiar "Verdandi" could learn a skill that enhances Ground-type moves, Guiche could finally hold his head high in front of his Marshal father.

"Don't rush. Now then, everyone, please cover your mouths and noses with your hands and squint your eyes. The Pokémon that's about to appear is a bit... special."

Instead of summoning Tyranitar right away, Dak issued another instruction to the crowd.

Most students didn't hesitate and immediately followed his words.

A few looked confused but, seeing others—including the teachers—doing the same, followed along.

Of course, there were always a few stubborn ones.

Dak didn't bother with them. If they got a mouthful of dirt, they'd only have themselves to blame.

"Come on out, Tyranitar. Go easy on the sandstorm, alright? They're still just kids."

Dak pressed the Poké Ball in his hand.

But before Tyranitar appeared, a surge of endless yellow sand burst forth.

"What's goi—blarghhh~"

Hearing that, Dak knew a few of the stubborn ones had gotten a mouthful of sand.

He had used psychic power to create a protective barrier around himself, shielding him from the sand, but the others weren't so lucky.

Even though Tyranitar had done its best to control it—

The sandstorm that quickly enveloped the entire Tristain Magic Academy was just too overwhelming.

For many students, merely being unable to open their eyes was already lucky.

Some, with weaker physical strength, were blown back several meters and had to be helped by nearby classmates to stay upright.

This sudden sand surge wasn't even Tyranitar's move—it was its Ability.

Controlling one's Ability was something only a very few Pokémon could manage.

If Abilities could be easily controlled, they'd be called moves instead.

So—

No matter how much Tyranitar restrained its energy, the sandstorm still grew increasingly intense.

"This is getting out of hand..."

Dak frowned.

Westley Square looked like it had been covered with a thick brown curtain. Even with his eyes, Dak couldn't see through the storm.

But with Observation Haki and various sensory abilities, he knew—if this kept up, forget the students—even the teachers would be blown into the sky.

No choice—Dak had to intervene personally.

Centered on himself, a surge of deep crimson mental energy exploded outward.

In that moment, the endless sand froze in midair, as if time had been stopped.

Some students, bolder and quicker to react, peeked through their fingers and saw the mind-bending scene.

And that wasn't all.

Their eyes quickly shifted to Dak nearby.

His eyes were glowing with a dark red light, and both his hands glowed with an earthy hue.

The frozen sand in the air seemed to hear the call of the Earth Mother herself, cascading down like rain, becoming one with the soil beneath their feet.

Most students slowly opened their eyes in hindsight, only to widen them in shock as they turned to see the enormous creature beside Dak.

Tyranitar, over ten meters tall, was absolutely a monster by this world's standards.

Normally—

Only Earth-type golem magic could create constructs larger than Tyranitar.

But those constructs lacked sentience and had to be maintained through mana and mental energy. Naturally, they were incomparable to Tyranitar.

"What is that?!"

"No, no, did you all see that power Teacher Dak used just now?!"

"That's his Ground-type familiar? That's insane!"

"No wonder Teacher Dak told us to do that—this Pokémon's entrance was wild!"

"This is literally my dream Ground-type familiar."

The square erupted into chaos.

Some people were discussing Tyranitar's appearance, others the sandstorm, and a few just kept staring at Dak.

That last part actually caught Dak off guard.

He had expected Tyranitar's Sand Stream Ability to stir things up, but not this much.

He had underestimated the power of a Lv.90 Tyranitar.

And that was on him.

By the time Tyranitar was summoned, the Pokémon League had already entered the era of supremacy—

Tyranitar didn't even need to battle anymore.

So Dak didn't really grasp its full power, which had led to this little mishap.

"Everyone, focus! Save your questions for after class. We're about to start the lesson on the 'Sandstorm' move."

Clap clap.

Dak clapped his hands, trying to regain order and redirect attention to himself.

But the crowd seemed to have entered a hyperactive state, chattering like a morning market.

Dak sighed in frustration.

Watching this, Tabitha and Louise frowned slightly.

Both raised their wands, preparing to create some dramatic effect to quiet the crowd—

But—

"ROAR!!!"

Before either could act, the Tyranitar beside Dak let out a thunderous roar.

It was like thunder exploding across flat ground, jolting everyone. A few timid students even collapsed to the ground, pale-faced.

After that roar, the whole square fell silent.

Everyone—including Dak—looked at Tyranitar.

Most had fearful and dumbfounded expressions.

Only Dak looked aggrieved—

Because that roar nearly deafened him.

"..."

Tyranitar sensed Dak's gaze and turned its head away, silently presenting its backside to him.

And that wasn't all—Tyranitar then scanned the students with a sharp, commanding glare.

The students shuddered again.

At Lv.90, a master-level Pokémon like Tyranitar was no longer in the same category as its species.

They underwent unspeakable transformations.

Most notably, in their aura.

At this moment, Tyranitar exuded the same "regal presence" as Sceptile.

That single glare was like a weakened version of Conqueror's Haki, sending shivers down everyone's spines.

In the games, such Pokémon had another title—

Totem Pokémon.

"Alright everyone, let's stay focused. If you study hard, maybe your familiars can grow as strong as Tyranitar one day."

Seeing the mood settle, Dak spoke again.

With his reassurance, the crowd slowly recovered.

Everyone stood obediently in place, like model students, occasionally sneaking glances at Tyranitar.

It felt like Tyranitar had become the homeroom or even discipline teacher.

Before it, everyone seemed tiny.

Even Tabitha's draconic familiar, Illococoo, standing nearby, was only as tall as Tyranitar's stubby legs.

Of course, Illococoo wouldn't dare approach.

She was hiding behind Tabitha, curled up and trembling, not even daring to look Tyranitar's way.

Upon closer inspection, all the other familiars present were in a similar state.

That earlier glance from Tyranitar might've had a dampened effect on humans, but on familiars—it was devastating.

Only the Ground-type familiars held up a bit better.

They dared look at Tyranitar—and in their eyes, admiration burned bright.

Wherever the Sandstorm God went, it was the king of the storm.

Even in a magical world, it was the monarch of the earth, a deity to Ground-type familiars.

Today's Familiar Breeding class ended up being the most relaxed one Dak had ever taught.

Not a single student, teacher, or staff member dared make a sound.

Any noise was immediately met with a long, oppressive stare from Tyranitar.

And after class ended, no one dared approach Dak to ask questions.

Only once Tyranitar was returned to its Poké Ball—

Did the long-restrained crowd finally swarm him.
