Chapter 166 - Chapter 164 - The An Unexpected Dungeon.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

Snape spent several hours in a dungeon full of monsters, just like the first time he used a key, entering a den of wolves. But here, he found a forest full of large orcs, while he killed all the monsters and their leader, one by one, taking their shadows, increasing his number of shadows even further.

And just like in Dracula's castle, he left the dungeon through the painting, only to find himself falling to the ground, as the painting was more than six meters above it.

He landed without any problems, looking around and seeing everything as normal. Despite his clothes being a bit torn, he was perfectly fine.

"How strange, I don't feel like this place has changed much," Snape murmured as he looked around, noticing that everything was exactly as he had left it. Even his tea still had liquid in it, which was odd, considering he had spent about six hours in that place. He found it strange—Dobby would have cleaned it up if he had seen it.

"Dobby." He called immediately, and the house-elf appeared right away.

"Yes, Master Snape!" he said. "You haven't gone to sleep yet... Your clothes, is there a problem?!" he asked, alarmed upon seeing his master's torn clothing.

"I... wanted to know how much time has passed since we last saw each other?" he asked.

"That... maybe about 30 or 40 minutes, Master Snape. Did something happen?!" Dobby asked, still disturbed.

"Here, can you take this?" Snape said, removing his tattered cloak to clean himself up and discard the clothing.

"Master Snape!! Are you trying to send me away?!" Dobby started crying at the sight of this. "Tell me, is Dobby not doing a good job?! Does Dobby need to punish himself or something?!" he lamented.

Snape finally realized what he had done when he saw the clothes being handed to the elf and took a step back. "I forgot about that, I apologize, Dobby. I don't need anything else, I'll handle this myself." In the end, Snape burned his own clothing without using a wand.

"Now I'm going to sleep. Just clean up the mess," Snape said and went to his room without saying anything else before heading to bed.

The next day, Snape was once again in the common hall, eating while ignoring everyone, including Clarisse, who was sitting beside him.

'That portal... Could the system start introducing new paintings or something like that?' Snape thought as he looked at his open system. He had reached level 65 and distributed even more points into magic and other stats.

'I also got some rather unique items... What should I do with them...?' he wondered. Besides the shadows, he had found different properties, both for potions and magical materials.

He just needed to figure out how to use them. He kept them in his inventory, which had been almost empty when he entered the dungeon.

"What are you looking at?" Snape was pulled from his thoughts when he felt Clarisse touch his shoulder.

"Hm?" He looked at her, making her smile.

"You've been staring into nothing for a while, not even listening to me," she said.

"I was just thinking about something," he replied, noticing other students glancing at them while he closed his system.

"Anyway... you and Lucinda aren't talking anymore?" she asked, as the girl in question was further away, chatting with other girls. She wasn't as clingy to Snape as she had been last year. He remembered receiving some letters from her—she had mentioned him visiting her family, but he hadn't.

She chatted but occasionally glanced at him, though she tried to be discreet. For someone usually so bold, it was strange. She hadn't tried to start a conversation or approach him since she returned less than two days ago. Maybe she was upset that he hadn't replied to her over the holidays. But in the end, Snape just shrugged it off.

"I don't know. Let her be," he simply said, not caring.

"Alright then..." Clarisse murmured, a bit lost, but she didn't bother him any further after that.

They continued their first meal of the day, having an hour before their only morning class. He went on with his usual training, completing his exercises in a few minutes before heading back to the castle.

He was the last to enter the Transfiguration classroom—but not late. He found the professor looking at him in surprise.

"Mr. Snape... It's good to see you here this year," she said, though she seemed quite tense, but for a different reason.

"Professor McGonagall..." he said, surprising the professor even more by addressing her with the respect of a teacher.

"Mr. Snape... you are very kind to say that." This made the professor blush, shocking everyone in the class who witnessed it.

Once again, the Transfiguration class was held together with Gryffindor. Snape stayed at the back of the room with Clarisse while the lesson began. The professor ended up reviewing last year's topics on Transfiguration.

"Let's begin the lesson," she announced.

Surprisingly, Snape earned about 20 points for Slytherin as he answered all the questions the professor directed at him, demonstrating an excellent understanding of the subject. Even Lily, who would normally answer everything, didn't get her chance to shine, as Professor McGonagall seemed only interested in questioning Snape.

When class ended, Snape bid farewell to Clarisse, who had to speak with the Herbology professor before lunch, agreeing to meet her later in the common hall. He then walked off alone, leaving both houses behind.

But as he turned the corridor, he sighed when he saw the woman leaning against the wall, looking at him.

"Rosaria..." Snape said as he looked at her.

"Professor Rosaria, Mr. Snape," she said, smiling.

"How can I help you, Professor Rosaria?" he asked after sighing at her presence.

Some students passed by and were surprised to see the History of Magic professor speaking with Snape in a secluded corner.

"Hey, what are they doing?!"

"Do they know each other? But Snape has only been at school for two days, practically."

The students began whispering, looking shocked. Even Lily was watching, starting to feel jealous due to the potion she had.

"Hey, what are you all staring at? Move along, or I'll start deducting points," Rosaria raised her voice, looking directly at the students.

Quickly, the students scattered, while Snape raised an eyebrow at her authoritative tone.

"There, now we're alone again," she said in an amused tone.

"What is this? Were you waiting for me here?" Snape asked.

"I was waiting so we could go to the common hall together," she said with a smile.

"All the way there? For what?" he questioned.

"It's necessary, you know, a date, I suppose?" she said in a much softer and more cheerful tone.

"A date for what... ah, forget it!" In the end, Snape found himself dealing with a teenager, not a 200-year-old woman. He walked ahead, and she followed him.

"How is Buf?" she asked.

"Who is Buf?" he looked at her with a questioning gaze.

"Your Graphorn. I named him Buf since I didn't know his name," she said.

"He's fine. I've been cutting down his food to get him in shape. You made him fat," he said.

"Not really, he was just eating the basics," she laughed, but Snape didn't believe her.

"Anyway," she continued, "I noticed he seemed really lonely, so I asked my father to buy a female Graphorn for Buf. She'll arrive in the next few weeks," she said.

"Really?" Snape raised an eyebrow at her.

"Yes, I'm sure Buf will love it," she said.

And so they continued walking through the corridors, while she kept up the conversation with him the entire time. However, as they turned into an area with paintings, Snape was caught off guard by something. In front of a painting, his system suddenly opened.

"Hmm?!"

[Dungeon Unlocked. It will absorb anyone standing in front of it.]

With that, neither he nor Rosaria could do anything before they felt their bodies being sucked into the snowy painting.

"What is this?!" Rosaria exclaimed, a bit surprised as she saw the world around them shift in a whirlpool. When they realized what had happened, they were inside a dungeon made of snow.

"Where...?" Rosaria murmured, looking around, feeling the cold snow against her face and taking in the vast, frozen landscape.

"We're in a dungeon," Snape said, unable to hide it anymore. And with the portal closed, they were now in a parallel world to Hogwarts. There was no point in hiding it now.

'These dungeons... I searched for some and didn't find any while checking the castle's paintings, but now one appears out of nowhere.' Snape couldn't help but think, feeling a bit frustrated.

He looked at Rosaria and pulled a cloak from the system.

"Put this on," he said while she was still disoriented.

She looked at the cloak and nodded, still looking somewhat lost, taking it with a grateful expression.

"Wait, did you say dungeon? What is this?" She had never heard of anything like it, but she remembered the painting pulling them in—something similar to what had happened in her home when Snape invaded it.

"We're trapped here until we defeat all the monsters. Just stay behind me," he said.

The next moment, he noticed something coming toward them—a frozen arrow. He caught it with his hand before it could hit Rosaria, though she had already been prepared for anything.

"This..." she murmured, watching Snape break the arrow and noticing humanoid figures in the nearby forest.

"Those... are ice elves," Snape murmured. He recognized them thanks to his knowledge as a guardian in the Order. During his training, he had studied various types of monsters.

"Ice elves..." Rosaria murmured, analyzing them as well. Without hesitation, she pulled out her wand and aimed at the one who had shot at them. The next moment, a beam of magic surged forward, covering the distance instantly and striking the elf.

"What range..." Snape had to admit—he had never witnessed this from her before. Very few wizards had such a far and rapid reach.

"You see, this is my specialty..." she said.

"Good..." Snape gave her a brief word of praise while putting on a cloak himself, studying the forest.

"They've retreated... It seems they pulled back after that, but they're certainly waiting for us to weaken so they can strike when we're at our most vulnerable," Snape said, and Rosaria nodded.

"You said we have to defeat the monsters... What do we do now?" she asked.

"We keep exploring this place. Everything we find, we kill," he said before beginning to walk through the snow.

"Alright..." Rosaria still seemed very lost in all of this, glancing around, searching for any signs of movement.

"You told your father you came to spy on me, right?" he asked, breaking the silence as they walked.

"Yes..." she murmured, looking at him cautiously. She didn't want him to be angry with her.

"If I asked you to keep a secret for me, would you do it? Even from your family?" he asked.

"Well... yes." She seemed to think about it for a moment but nodded in the end.

"..." Snape didn't detect any lies in her words and nodded.

"Alright, I'll use my strength to speed this up so we can finish this dungeon quickly."

The next moment, his shadow began to expand, with eyes emerging from it, catching Rosaria by surprise.

Dozens of shadow soldiers started to rise—except for Igris, who was still guarding the potion shop.

Rosaria stared at the shadow soldiers, stunned. Her red eyes fixated on Snape as he remained calm.

'Who are you...?' she couldn't help but wonder, feeling an energy of death on a level she had never experienced before.
