Karris' POV
Life had been peaceful for a month now . I mean no obstacle to my success. I finally threw her out of the my company. Aish! Such a nuisance. I was enjoying this peace so much,I should have known it wouldn't last long š. Was peace also a hard thing for the heavens to deliver to me? My dad barged into my office looking all angryš š”. Who annoyed him?
'Where's Whitney',my dad asked.
Aha! I should have known šŖ this was all about her. She was absent in form but present in people's thoughts. What's so special about her that people can't seem to forget her?
'I fired her',I replied.
'What did she do',he asked back.
Why is this man so concerned about a mere secretary I fired š¤ ?
'Well,I had to,because I found out she slept her way through to get her position and she was still doing it to maintain the position ',I lied effortlessly without batting an eyelid.
'I fired her to save the company's image, she would have tarnished it if word got out, what would people starting thinking of our company?',I added more fuel ā½ļø to the fire š„.
But I could see he wasn't buying it. God!why did you create the man and give him that much intelligence? Why couldn't he just buy it and let me continue having my peace of mind? He left my office with a look in his eyes that I feared šØ very much. What is he cooking in that head of his? What have I done?
'Karris don't start feeling remorseful. You've never felt that emotion before' I spoke to my inner being.
For the past days there has been news that the Risavette family and empire were in muddy waters. Why does that name sound familiar? I shrugged it off, after all it wasn't part of my business, was it? I started having this nagging feeling, like something I wouldn't like is about happen to me. It made me uncomfortable.
I decided to visit my old man to know what he was up to because I couldn't shrug this feeling off. I arrived at the mansion and saw the old man preparing to go out. Where is he going to? I approached him and started a conversation with him. But he replied in monosyllables which showed he was in a hurry. Was there an emergency in the company? No It couldn't be,I just came from there. I pulled out my phone š± to check the latest news and it said the heiress of the Risavette family was hospitalized. Ow! So that's why. But since when did my dad become friends with the Risavette family. Or have I misunderstood him?
I went back to my office because apparently the purpose for which I went there didn't even work. I got nothing from him to set my mind working, to find out what he was up to. I just didn't like this feeling I was having. Is it karma getting back at me for what I did to Whitney? If so,should i go and ask for forgiveness? No,I can't do that. It would bruise my ego! I searched for Whitney's whereabout and found out she was in the hospital. My conscience wouldn't let me have the peace I so desired ,so I decided to visit her in the hospital and clear my mind and also have some peace.
When I got down from my car I spotted my dad at the hospital's entrance. Is the heiress of the Risavette family also here? I approached and greeted him. He responded by asking me why i was here.
Of course I couldn't tell him the truth. So I told him I came to visit a sick colleague.
He told me he was heading home and bade me farewell. I walked to the receptionist asking her the ward Whitney was in. I barged into her ward. I mean you weren't expecting me to knock were you?
I was putting down my ego by coming here and you expect me to also knock.
I wasn't expecting to see such transformation. How did she end up looking like a zombie š§āāļø? She looked nothing like the Whitney I knew a month ago. She needed a whole makeover. She looked so shocked š² her already pale face turned even paler.
'I can see you are well', I said.
'Why are you here?',she asked.
'Well,I came to visit a friend and heard you were here so I decided to come see you',I replied.
'Well, since you have, you can leave the door is right behind you', she said.
'Wow! What a feisty little kitten ,fine am goingš.
So much for listening to my conscience š¤¦.
