Chapter 160 - Chapter 160

Beiu remember what you're supposed to do.

While the purple entity was taking control of Badger-530, he heard Ryukushu's voice speaking to him in his head.

"Hehehe!"

Several people were playing sports and spending time with their families at a park nearby. Beside the park stood a golf course with at least three people partaking in matches between the group. A mother with her son and baby in the stroller took a walk at the park during this fine weather.

Admist the activities in the park which was safe from the current ongoing events for now, a bacterial-looking speck appeared above one of the park's decorations and grew larger by the minute. The people unaware of this strange appearance.

When the baby in the stroller started crying, his mother quickly grabbed the milk bottle in the compartment below.

Her son standing beside her, tugged on her shirt, pointing ahead. "Hey mother look over there."

Curious as to why her son insisted that she take a look, his mother glanced up.

"Why are those people-"

The boy was immediately cut off when his mother let out a bloodcurdling scream and held her son against her protectively. She turned the stroller to face the other direction so her baby will stop crying from witnessing the gruesome sight a few feet away from them.

Meanwhile, Tanashi was about to close in on Shinobu who just started getting the hang of the mechanized blade in her grip. Earlier on, the violette struggled to steady herself due to the weapon's inferior size compared to Tanashi's bulky arm.

Although the mechanized blade wasn't the most intimidating weapon Tanashi had come across, it was certainly larger and threatening compared to the kitchen knife in his possession not too long ago. The knife lying on the floor and forgotten by its wielder.

"I wonder how Douma will feel if I return you to him as a bouquet of arms and legs." Tanashi spat, stomping towards Shinobu who pointed the blade at him.

Shinobu took a deep breath and moved away when Tanashi tried slamming her with his large monstrous hands. In her peripheral vision, they looked like hawks clawing at her with their talons.

As he got closer, Shinobu decided that running away would only give him the chance to catch up with her and crush the delicate bones that he sought to break. Shinobu mustered the courage to stand her ground and slash Tanashi's arms that tried to grab her when he loomed over the violette like a hungry beast in the shadows.

Tanashi tried to elbow her however Shinobu used that as an opportunity to slice his arm with the mechanized blade. Her movements were sluggish since she rarely wielded a weapon as lethal as a blade, but she managed to control her movements so as to not trip in the process of striking her opponent.

A loud roar erupted from the area, Yushiro fearful that if he were to slide down the slope, his legs will get stuck in between the tree roots. To make matters worse, Tanashi was right there, if he spots Yushiro clinging onto the slope, he might become the monster's next target and he wouldn't be able to escape.

"I have to find a way to help her." Yushiro whispered quietly to himself.

Tanashi pushed Shinobu away with his other hand and jumped into the air with clenched fists. Taking another deep breath, Shinobu forced herself to roll away while the spot that she just laid on was smashed to rubble.

"Once I get ahold of that blade I won't hesitate to break it into two. What a fragile tool."

As usual, Tanashi was back to interrogating her. This monster had no common relatability to humans. Shinobu could no longer view Tanashi as a human anymore. He lacked sensibility and remorse, traits that a normal human would possess.

What he did to Atashi was unacceptable. The boy almost lost everything he had because of these temptations Atashi fed to his mind. Now here he is, siding with the enemy only this time, he was out for blood. The blood of his own kind.

Tanashi leaped up and crashed into the shed, fists-first. The planks from the shed's roof flew in Shinobu's direction. The violette moved away and pushed the button at the side of the sharp blade.

"Come on why isn't it working?" The second button on the weapon was supposed to heat up the blade. But to Shinobu's despair, that feature remain dormant no matter how many times she pushed her fingers on the button.

The monster approached her. A rumble radiated in his throat coming off as a laugh. He stepped closer, swaying his tail back and forth to tell the violette he was getting ready to attack anytime now.

Shinobu staggered back, her breath hitching in her throat. "Just turn on already! What's wrong with this thing?!" Her fingers slipped against the button, falling limp like the rest of her hand as she stood there helplessly.

Yushiro winced and bit his lip. "Oh this isn't good." Carefully, he began crawling down the slope, making sure Tanashi couldn't hear the rustling and crunching of the leaves.

"Dang it why are you so stubborn?" The violette curled her fingers around the blade, hoping that a miracle will happen.

Tanashi took a few steps closer to Shinobu. He was enticed by her helplessness. The violette struggled to use her weapon, let alone bring out its full potential. This blade she holds so dearly to refused to listen to her words because it too knows she's not fit for this type of game.

Despite feeling hopeless about the blade's use in this battle, Shinobu decided that she'll try unlocking its full potential again. She raised the weapon pointing it directly at Tanashi who laughed at this sight which seemed comedic to him.

"It's no use. Even the blade knows it's over. What an entertaining battle I must say. You're so clueless my toes are laughing!" Tanashi reached out to try and grab Shinobu who staggered back with the blade still pointing in the monster's direction.

What am I gonna do... Shinobu stared at Tanashi whose eyes started blinking like buttons of a submarine's control panel. The monster saw every glimpse of movement in his enhanced vision now, the way Shinobu swung the blade threateningly at him displayed every movement resembling that of animation keyframes on a canvas.

From the strange occurrences that Tanashi's eyes were giving off, Shinobu knew something was wrong. He focused on her movements, setting his large foot beside hers every time she took a step in any direction.

It was as though he was calculating her movements and predicting her next attack at the same time. Although Shinobu wanted the blade's scorching heat to surface, she was starting to become doubtful about whether she'd be able to defeat Tanashi. He wasn't backing down because he was confident that this battle will turn out in favor of him as the victor and not Shinobu who was clearly inferior in strength and size. Tanashi had nothing to be afraid of.

Yushiro continued crawling down the slope. He then came to a sudden stop when he realized just how far the walkway was from the steep slope. "Nope I'm not hiding any longer. Heights don't scare me." The green-haired teen ignored the rising fear at the back of his head and continued moving down the slope quietly.

Tanashi growled at Shinobu and kicked a mass of dirt from the ground in her direction. The violette moved back looking away from the debris so it won't obstruct her vision and senses.

At that instant, Tanashi charged at Shinobu with his hands wide open so he could reach out and grab ahold of her while she's distracted by the mass of dirt.

The violette heard Tanashi's footsteps and saw a large bulky figure running towards her. Out of fear, she started swinging the blade around in case he closed in on her.

When Shinobu was about to strike Tanashi with her blade, she felt a ray of heat jab the bridge of her nose as the blade almost sliced the monster who backed away from the weapon. Realizing that the blade's heat had surfaced.

"I got you now!" Shinobu yelled, swiping the blade at Tanashi who moved away from every slash steadily.

"Don't be so confident. I'm sure this is the first time you've unleashed its power. You're an amateur when it comes to weaponry." Tanashi remarked.

"I'd rather be known as an amateur at this than a loser who can't even put up a fight despite his size."

"Grrrrr! All talk but no fighting. What is this? A game of fencing?"

Smiling slyly, the violette knew Tanashi was panicking. Despite being this giant scary monster, he didn't put his advantage to good use. He avoided all of her attacks, clearly afraid to defend himself. The monster's two pairs of eyes stayed on the weapon in her hands throughout this session of stalling. He wasn't expecting the blade to listen to Shinobu.

Now he's stuck having to deal with the next rounds of stalling until one of them decides to put an end to this fight.

Tanashi grabbed the blade out of curiosity, thinking it wouldn't hurt him but when the heat started building up in his fingers he immediately released his grip because of the unbearably scorching heat that the weapon gave off.

When Shinobu swiped the mechanized blade at Tanashi again he grabbed her wrist tightly and swashed the weapon out of her hands with the tentacles attached to his jawline.

"You're just an ordinary human. You're out of my league." Tanashi threatened her, the sound of the blade falling to the ground almost made her choke.

The adrenaline rush Shinobu felt after hearing Tanashi's words turned into a spark of viscous energy that surged through her veins. When it reached her fist, Shinobu felt her arms stiffen. Nobody had the right to tell her she wasn't capable of putting up a fight, human or not.

Shinobu flitted her eyes to the frying pan lying on the ground beside her. While Tanashi gripped his hold on her wrist tighter, she gathered the surging energy and caught every ounce of it in her fist.

Quickly, the violette grabbed the frying pan on the floor and slammed it at the side of Tanashi's face. He released his grip on the violette and staggered to the side, clutching the side of his face in agony.

"So you think you're tough." The monster scratched the bruise on his cheek and stood upright with a glare.

The vendetta helped her get through this and she wasn't going to let herself down because of some moronic insult. This power of hers wasn't going to sit around and watch the violette struggle to against her opponent. It was willing to put up a fight as well. Shinobu took a deep breath and gathered the energy she needed to fight this beast.

Growling, Tanashi was puzzled by how a mere frying pan managed to deal such a hit. He didn't question it since this must've been sheer luck on Shinobu's side. Tanashi strode in front of the violette and fired a gunk of ink at her.

Shinobu blocked the substance with her arm and moved backwards. The ink casted dark clouds that hid Tanashi's presence.

A long tail swooped her off the ground in an instant. Shinobu fell to the ground, overwhelmed by the effects of the ink and the pressure of having to deal with this monster.

Just a single swipe of Tanashi's tail had completely drained a portion of her determination to keep on fighting. Shinobu laid on the ground in exhaustion as Tanashi approached her, getting down to a quadruple position. He crawled towards the violette, thinking of devouring her right now.

A voice in the violette's head demanded that she get up. When Shinobu raised her head she saw the blurry orange figure crawling towards her like a lizard in the sand.

Shinobu lifted herself from the ground and moved away from Tanashi who hissed at her and got up. The violette ran over to where her blade was and picked it up while Tanashi stomped towards her, alarmed by the fact that she got a hold of the mechanized blade again.

"This is it. I'm not giving any chances." The violette warned, pointing the blade directly at Tanashi who walked towards her. His tall frame looming over her.

"Oh I don't think so." Tanashi replied with the flick of his tail. He charged at her, the ground shaking underneath his feet.

Wincing, Shinobu braced herself as she raised the blade high up. Opening his mouth wide, Tanashi animalistically clamped down on the blade that ended up impaling the area around his mouth located a few inches away from his nostrils.

Tanashi let out a cry as he backed away from Shinobu who widened her eyes at the monster thrashing his neck around. The blade hanged from the top of his jaw. Blood oozing out of it rapidly.

Snarling like an animal, Tanashi stomped on the ground and licked the crimson liquid dripping from the blade. The metallic taste flowed down his tongue like a fountain.

Two of the tentacles surrounding his jawline latched onto the blade and pulled it out of his mouth. In frustration, Tanashi threw the blade to the ground, staggering away leaving blood stains after every step he took.

Shinobu watched as Tanashi collapsed to the ground. His mouth still bleeding from the puncture of the blade.

With caution, Shinobu picked up the mechanized blade, its tip covered with a red glistening touch to it. She still needed this weapon for as long as the events were still happening.

Yushiro felt a sudden change in his surroundings. Everything fell silent. He stopped in his tracks waiting to hear the sounds he heard during the battle. His heart racing at the thought of the current state of things.

Shinobu stared at the monster's body horrified. She couldn't bear looking at it.

Immediately, the violette ran in the direction which she came from and hurried up the slope.

Yushiro saw Shinobu trailing towards him. Relieved that she made it out without any severe injuries. The fact that she managed to defeat Tanashi all by herself was incredible.

"Shinobu are you alright? Are you hurt-"

"Yeah I'm fine." The violette replied, walking ahead of him in the opposite direction.

This type of response was understandable given the amount of pressure she must've felt back there. Yushiro nodded and followed after her.
