"Quick!" she urged any human survivor she encountered, guiding them to safety.
Her gaze roamed through the billowing smoke and leaping flames; the entire village was engulfed in fire—this place she had known all her life, along with its people. It was a painful sight, and the worst part was that the flames continued to spread.
"Madeline!" Someone drew in a sharp breath. "Heavens, Demoiselle, what are you doing here?" Sebastian stood beside her, his emerald eyes blazing...
Madeline raised her hand, and white smoke billowed like clouds. She didn't glance at him; there was no time for argument—not now. "You were with my husband. Where is he?" she demanded.
With a swift motion, she sent waves of smoke forward, snuffing out the flames, cooling their searing path.
