After mentally grumbling about Dumbledore, Andy looked at Professor Flitwick and doubtfully asked, "Professor, what is the difference between an alchemical creation and a regular magical item?"
"I mean the functional difference."
In theory, both belong to the category of magical items; it's just that they are made by different methods.
But unlike alchemical artefacts, which are highly regarded in the wizarding world, ordinary magical items are common and mass-produced.
The price difference is enormous.
"Collins, I already told you: Magical items are created using the magic of witches and wizards. Since it is the magic of witches and wizards, we can learn to master those spells."
Professor Flitwick explained with a smile. "But alchemical creation is different. It is created using a different magical system. We can use alchemy to create unique magical items."
"For example... the Philosopher's Stone!"
"You can't cast a spell that will grant you long life."
"But the Philosopher's Stone can."
"There are also other alchemical creations that have abilities that the wizard can't master, which set them apart from our spells."
"Of course, in most cases, the two have somewhat similar functions."
So that's it!
Andy finally understood why alchemy was so highly regarded in the magical world.
Not only because of the famous Philosopher's Stone, but also because alchemy is a magical system with its own characteristics distinct from traditional spellcasting.
What a spell can do, an alchemical creation may not necessarily be able to do.
The same is true in reverse.
Some of the abilities of alchemical creations are beyond the scope of a wizard's spells.
Looking at the book in his hands, Andy suddenly felt as if he had opened the door to a new world.
Not long ago, Andy still despised alchemy for not being able to enhance a wizard's magical abilities. But now Andy really wanted to learn alchemy.
Perhaps there is some kind of wonderful common ground between alchemy and spells.
"Professor, is an incantation really necessary for casting a spell?"
At this moment, Hermione seemed to be in tune with Andy's thoughts and directly asked about Andy's doubts. "There are witches and wizards in many countries. We speak different languages and have different cultures, but our spells are more or less similar."
"I have tried it; there are no requirements for accent or language when casting a spell."
In the first charm class, Professor Flitwick taught them that when casting a spell, they needed to pay attention to the incantation and the gestures.
However, the deeper Hermione came to understand magic, the more she doubted that incantations and gestures were necessary when casting spells.
Especially since she had Andy, who had a knack for magic, by her side.
Andy could now cast spells without a wand and could easily defeat an average wizard with a snap of his fingers.
"That's rare!"
Andy looked surprised. "This is the first time you've questioned the professor!"
Hermione glared at Andy before continuing, "If casting a spell has nothing to do with the incantation, then is it possible that the incantations we use and the runes of alchemy are also the same magic in different languages?"
"I have to say... Hermione, we're thinking alike," Andy interrupted again.
The same magic in different languages!
This was also Andy's doubt.
"Miss Granger, do you know the role of language?" Professor Flitwick suddenly asked.
"Language is a tool of the mind. People can express their thoughts, opinions, views, and feelings through language," Hermione said.
"Yes! Mind control magic."
Professor Flitwick explained, "Incantations can help you better adjust your mind and express your inner emotions."
"Many people can cast spells without incantations, and a rare few can even perform wandless spellcasting. When a young wizard is in a state of accidental magical outburst, they can sometimes perform incredible feats."
"I seem to remember saying that learning magic is simply a process of rediscovering our innate spellcasting abilities."
Hermione couldn't help reminding him, "Professor, you didn't say that."
"I definitely did..."
Halfway through his sentence, Professor Flitwick suddenly became a little embarrassed. "Okay, maybe I didn't say it to you."
Hermione: "..."
"Professor, you did say it, and I can vouch for it. Hermione may have forgotten, but I remember," Andy said quickly.
Hermione: "..."
"Back to your previous question."
Professor Flitwick continued, "I mentioned before that the core of alchemy is to make matter perform magic. The pictographic scripts (runes) are the incantations that enable matter to become magical."
"I must say, this is a very profound question."
"Learning magic is about rediscovering our innate ability to perform magic. That is why the spells of different wizard groups are the same; only the incantations differ."
"But the magic of matter..."
Professor Flitwick paused for a moment before continuing, "Maybe it is the same... because the highest goal of magic is to make one's wishes come true."
Andy nodded in approval.
Making one's wishes come true is also the ultimate goal Andy is striving for.
Although Andy can now cast spells without a wand, in essence, he has only simplified the process of casting spells.
There is still a long way to go before he can truly make his wishes come true.
If the end goal of both magic and alchemy is the same, then the runes may indeed be just different languages equivalent to corresponding incantations.
However...
From the looks of it, it seems that wizards cannot use these particular languages.
"It seems that I still have a lot to learn," Hermione muttered.
"You are still young, Miss Granger."
Professor Flitwick laughed: "I'm still learning too... But I'm afraid we'll never be able to uncover the true mysteries of magic in our lifetimes."
"That's far too far away for us!"
Despite what he said, Andy still felt that he had gained a lot.
Alchemy!
Animism!
Mind control magic!
Everything is connected to the mind!
If what Professor Flitwick said was true, then there were still many mysteries hidden in this world.
Love...
Andy thought about this concept again.
In the world of Harry Potter, love is a main theme that can never be ignored.
Dumbledore also said that love is the purest force of the mind.
Andy now has some doubts.
Is that really all there is to it?
Perhaps there are more secrets associated with love waiting for Andy to uncover.
Incantations. Mind. Runes.
Andy has now completely fused his mind and magic. He has drawn the magic from the unknown dimension into his mind.
The magic is stored deep within Andy's mind!
Looking at the system again.
Andy believes that he has a chance to progress to such a level.
The ultimate goal of magic – wish fulfilment!
What is wish fulfilment?
It is just another form of reality-bending – no, it is reality-bending, bending reality to our wishes.
Immortality is just a matter of thought.
"Thank you for the explanation, Professor," Andy said with a big smile.
"I am a professor," Professor Flitwick said with a smile before turning away and continuing to help the few students who were having difficulty casting spells.
Boom -
Seamus had caused another explosion!
Andy and Hermione turned to look and then smiled at each other.
"Andy, what do you think?" Hermione asked.
"Alchemy and spells are different, after all..."
Andy thought momentarily and said, "I think I should start with animism."
"You know, I'm somewhat an expert in the field of the mind!"
