The people of Yibei City could never imagine that beneath their water supply pipelines lay another layer of pipeline system, drawing tens of millions of cubic meters of water, all converging atop Hill A to sustain its millennia-long existence.
"We can imagine an underground civilization that evolves in cycles with the climate. Over the past 10,000 years, this civilization lived in fear of the mini ice ages that occurred every few thousand years, when water sources dried up, electricity became scarce, and civilization fell into decline, sparking internal strife. And when the climate warmed up again, with water flowing infinitely and electricity once more powering all facilities, the entirety of Hill A would flourish," Lila said.
