Suddenly, the old uncle began coughing violently, which pulled the two out of their train of thought; Senior Sister looked at him worriedly, "Dad!"
"The Flood is taking away my last bit of vitality," the old uncle's complexion grew increasingly pale, his consciousness foggy, "It's up to you now, girl."
"Promise me."
Clenching Senior Sister's hand tightly, the old man said weakly in a raspy voice, "Protect him."
Senior Sister had never imagined the old uncle could be so frail; his hand was withering at a rate visible to the naked eye, no longer resembling him; instead, it was like that of a man in his seventies or eighties.
"I promise."
Senior Sister placed her hand on the old uncle's, affirming decisively, "I will certainly surpass you!"
The old uncle smiled; he nodded, his eyes growing heavier, and his breath had weakened to the point that not even the Miracle Entities surrounding them could sense it.
"Old friend."
