(??? POV)
---------------------------------
In a void where time does not exist and the laws of the universe are considered irrelevant, a floating wisp of "light" could be seen, seemingly without any destination, murmuring a melody.
It was the only light in this vast, terrifying darkness.
"Mmmm~ Mmm~ Mm- ... Not quite my tempo, Hmmm~ Hmmm~ Hmm..."
This faint glow drifted aimlessly, lost in thought: 'Sigh... How long am I gonna float around here...?'
'At least I'd be happy if the last thing I saw wasn't that red-haired geezer looking at me with those pitying eyes. Wait! He wasn't even an old man, he was just acting like one! Hahhh whatever, karma that karma this he says... What an interesting concept. Unfortunately, my fate is already sealed.'
It continued floating around this strange, dark 'place' while having these thoughts, without any direction or purpose.
'I have pondered many times about what this place is, but I still don't have a clear answer. Am I really gone forever..? Just like that? Hmph… Not exactly the grand finale I had in mind, but sure. Let's call it poetic. Or maybe I'm just being too dramatic. Still unfair though, with so many people coming at me.' As the wisp mused to itself, an intense blue glow suddenly filled the darkness, nearly overwhelming its senses.
The blue light absorbed this small gleam lost in the void, without allowing it to react in any way.
As the wisp was being lost in this light, the last thing that went through its mind was: 'I wish I were given a choice at least.'

(Bazett's POV)
When the blue hue disappeared out of sight, a man appeared in front of Bazett. Although she couldn't see the man's features because of the black mask that covered his entire face, she could feel his gaze on her. On the other hand, the man was wearing a black and flashy suit, but it was pretty disheveled.
To Bazett's surprise, the man fell straight to the ground as soon as he arrived.
'Who did I summon?' Bazett thought to herself, worriedly.
"Are you my servant?" Bazett asked, frowning at the man who had still not risen from the floor.
As he grunted, he spoke: "Ugh, that's just a great question." As the servant spoke, he stood up and brushed the dust off his jacket and pants: "Sorry, your summoning caught me a bit off guard, you see. But it's alright, and yes, I am the servant you summoned." The sleek black mask lit up with two round LED eyes, and just as she glared at him, one of them cheekily winked.
Bazett uncertainly nodded her head and said: "Good, my name is Bazett Fraga McRemitz. I will be your master in this Holy Grail War. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to know you Bazett, or should I call you master? For now, it's enough to refer to me as Ezekiel, or you can just call me Zeke." Servant, now Ezekiel, replied while walking around the place he was summoned to without looking at Bazett.
"Call me master. So Zeke, what's your class?" Bazett asked, her eyes following Ezekiel.
After Ezekiel heard the question, he just looked at her for a few seconds without answering as he stopped on his ground. Just as Bazett was about to speak once more, Ezekiel broke the silence.
"My class is lancer." Ezekiel wasn't looking Bazett in the eye for some reason as he revealed his class. Bazett expected to hear some backstory and powers relating to him but she didn't want to press the matter further, after all, she had just summoned him, added she was pretty tired after all. It could wait a day or two.
"I see." Bazett turned around and started walking towards the stairs leading from the basement to the living room: "Follow me."
Ezekiel followed Bazett as he muttered to himself: "That was rude..." And when they arrived in the living room, Bazett sat down in one of the large sofas and sighed heavily.
'I can't believe I just got roped into this war out of nowhere...' Bazett thought about this, then turned her head back and called out to Ezekiel.
"Lancer, I didn't prepare a plan for tonight, but I still want you to patrol the vicinity of this mansion through the night. If you find any familiar not under my control monitoring us, report to me in the morning. You should already know what to do in more dire situations."
Whispered to himself: "Familiars?.. Oh right..." Then spoke in his usual tone: "Yeah, your wish is my command, Master." Immediately after Ezekiel said this, he slightly bowed a little before disappearing along with blue particles.
When she was assured that her servant had left completely, Bazett finally broke the stern expression that had been on her face since she first summoned him and sighed again, for the umpteenth time today.
'Being chosen by the Clock Tower as a master for the Holy Grail War, a long flight and doing the summoning the first day I arrived... I'd happily take a rest right now.' Bazett made her way to the bedroom in her new mansion while thinking this over in her head.
Changing out of her suit for something more comfortable, Bazett laid down on her bed, closed her eyes, and fell into a well-deserved sleep, oblivious to the events that were coming and ignorant of the dangers that lay in the darkness of the night.

(Meanwhile at Fuyuki Church)
Kirei was in his private room at the church eating an extra spicy mapo tofu. His face held a very happy smile as if he was enjoying the delicacy of the heavens.
"I assume Bazett will be summoning her servant as well tonight or she already has, who knows... How delightful, to watch her struggle. I wonder how long she can pretend to hold onto her ideals"
Kirei finished muttering to himself and thought: 'Gilgamesh… our truths are buried in that chalice. Soon, very soon… the grail will give us our answers.'
