Two subordinates at the level of God-Kings?
A subordinate at the level of an Ancient God?
To be honest!
If anyone else were here, they would likely think Prometheus was joking. However, as Zeus listened to Prometheus, he fell into deep thought.
Clearly!
In Zeus's mind, Prometheus's words were very accurate. Or rather, this was something Zeus agreed with.
Zeus remained silent, quietly observing Prometheus. He wasn't doubting what Prometheus had said—he had already considered it and the result was clear.
In truth,
Zeus was very aware that the outcome would be exactly as expected, without any issues.
But!
Zeus was thinking about other questions: Was Prometheus truly trustworthy? That was the main issue Zeus was contemplating. Could Prometheus, this cunning figure, really be trusted? That was the central and most critical problem.
Frankly speaking,
In Zeus's view, Prometheus wasn't fully trustworthy. This wasn't a joke! In Zeus's eyes, Prometheus was too smart, almost dangerously so.
Even with Prometheus's divine heart in his control, Zeus still had to question whether he was genuinely trustworthy. This was the core issue for Zeus, the kind of god he was.
And this,
was also the greatest source of frustration for Prometheus. It's why, in the end, Prometheus ultimately gave up on Zeus.
It was unsolvable!
No matter how hard he tried, no matter what he sacrificed, damn it! Zeus simply didn't trust him. If Zeus didn't trust him, what else could he do?
From Prometheus's perspective, no matter what he did, Zeus always viewed him with suspicion.
Isn't this absurd?
A ruler's paranoia?
It was laughable!
It's understandable for mortal rulers to be paranoid. From their viewpoint, they need to be cautious of everyone, always guarding against betrayal. That's a fundamental reality of being a king among mortals.
This is because mortal rulers don't possess invincible power. No matter when, they always have to consider the possibility of failure. After all, failure is a real possibility, something they cannot deny.
But for a God-King? That's not the case! For a God-King, as long as they maintain absolute, unrivaled divine power, is there any need to worry about such things?
It's ridiculous! It's strange! It defies logic!
Yet Zeus was this kind of God-King. From the depths of his heart, he trusted no one, even if he had their divine heart or wielded godlike power. He still didn't trust anyone.
This wasn't just a flaw; for a God-King, this was a severe problem! You could even say this was a major illness!
"Enough!" Zeus said calmly. "No matter what, for now, we'll stop here. Prometheus, make sure everything is prepared. The sooner this is settled, the better."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Prometheus, of course, had no objections and responded with the utmost loyalty: "Your Majesty, I must add that at this time..."
"The heavens are indeed weaker compared to the seas and the underworld. The best approach would be to wait a little. After all, what's a few million or even tens of millions of years?"
"In that span, everything will be easily dealt with."
"Once that time has passed,
everything will be under your control. By then, is there anything left to worry about?"
Listening to Prometheus, Zeus maintained an indifferent expression, his eyes devoid of any emotional fluctuations. He simply waved his hand.
"Your Majesty, I will take my leave now."
Prometheus then withdrew.
Zeus murmured, "I can't deny it, Prometheus, you're right. There's no need to rush. Once the plan succeeds, everything will fall under my control easily."
"But..."
Zeus shook his head. He didn't finish his thought.
The same old issue remained!
Hades, Poseidon, Zeus.
The differences in the personalities of these three God-Kings were immense.
Hades ruled with absolute reason, tempered by emotion. But! Hades didn't completely discard emotion. When dealing with his eldest sister or his mother, Hades still maintained emotional ties.
That's just who Hades was. He was a calm god.
Underneath his rationality, he acted when he believed it was right. Supported unconditionally by Erebus and Nyx, Hades treated his underworld gods the same way.
With their divine hearts in his hands,
was betrayal even possible?
Obviously not!
That was Hades's character—calm, trusting. If you were loyal to him, he would give you his complete trust.
As for Poseidon, he was emotionless, a true machine.
Because!
Poseidon had no feelings, and because of that, his actions were almost always the most correct. He trusted his sea gods.
But!
That trust wasn't absolute. It was more transactional—you worked for me, and I trust you. It was a simple, straightforward kind of relationship. That's the essence of Poseidon's character.
And as for Zeus?
What could be said?
Zeus's personality was truly difficult to describe. He had the grandeur and abilities of a ruler, but he also had a ruler's paranoia!
In Zeus's heart, he trusted no one. It didn't matter who it was. Besides himself, Zeus truly didn't trust anyone!
That was Zeus's personality!!!
