Liu Datou's face twisted with ferocity as he struck a pose ready to fight to the death.
The crowd that had been cursing around him scattered in fear, retreating to the back.
The old village chief, however, remained calm, still watching Liu Datou with a cold gaze.
"Look at how tough you think you are," he said mockingly. "If you're so capable, go ahead and chop me up."
Seeing the village chief step forward a few paces fearlessly, even sticking out his neck to provoke Liu Datou, Zhang Xiaowei panicked.
He didn't want this to result in a fatality, as it would not benefit him in the slightest.
So, he hurriedly stepped forward to pull the village chief aside.
"Village chief, he's furious right now. Don't provoke him," Zhang Xiaowei urged.
The village chief gave Liu Datou a cold glance, then turned to Zhang Xiaowei and chuckled.
"Don't worry," the chief reassured him. "Despite his fierce look, he won't dare to act."
