The elders of the pack were beginning to push me, especially Calda, Ava's greatest supporter. According to them, everything I had done to make sure the dark magic was out of our realm, had resulted in something even more disastrous as though they had forgotten Ava's role as the progenitor of the troubles. Lives had been lost, and properties destroyed.
But none of these people even had remorse, going ahead to demand Vickson's abdication. A little more power than this and I would dissolve the council, everyone should go home.
The mountain winds howled as I sat cross-legged beneath the glowing sigil of the Moon Temple, breathing in the thin, biting air. My palms rested on my knees, fingers trembling as they hovered just above the sacred stone.
The ritual to cleanse Vickson had left me drained, but something inside me told me there was more I needed to know—more I needed to become.
So I stayed.
