There was an oppressive silence that fell over the penthouse.
Seo-yeon braced herself against the shut door, her chest heaving with a pump of adrenaline. She hadn't even known she was holding her breath until Joon-woo made a movement towards her, his eyes narrowed and impenetrable.
"You hesitated." His words were tranquil, but the gravity of them hit her like a physical blow.
She swallowed, refusing to meet his gaze. "I made my choice."
Joon-woo regarded her for a long moment before releasing a soft laugh. "Did you?" He picked up his glass of whiskey, rotating the amber liquid slowly before swallowing a mouthful. "Or perhaps you merely chose the lesser evil?"
Seo-yeon's hands clenched into fists at her sides. "Don't make this into something it isn't."
Joon-woo raised a brow, placing his drink on the counter. "I don't need to. You know what this is."
She gritted her teeth. "You think you own me."
"Not think." He advanced on her, his looming form oppressive. "I do."
