Jack returned home, his mind still preoccupied with
thoughts of Eva. He paced his living room, a mixture of worry
and happiness swirling within him. He was relieved that she
was safe, yet he couldn't ignore the growing attachment he
felt toward her. The warmth of their moments together
lingered, making him realize just how much he cherished her
presence.
The next morning, Jack picked up his phone and dialed
Eva's number. As the call connected, he felt an inexplicable
anticipation.
"Hello, Eva? How are you feeling today?" he asked, his
voice filled with genuine concern.
Eva's cheerful tone reassured him. "Good morning, Jack.
I'm feeling much better now. The pain has subsided a lot. I
was actually thinking of coming to the office today."
Jack frowned slightly, his protective instincts kicking in.
"No, Eva. You should take the day off and rest properly.
There's no need to rush back to work. Just take care of
yourself."
Eva hesitated, touched by his concern. "Are you sure? I
don't want to trouble you."
"I'm sure," Jack said firmly. "Take the day off. That's an
order."
Eva chuckled softly. "Alright, alright. I'll listen to you."Lilly, who had been listening nearby, smirked as she
crossed her arms. "I don't think this is just friendship, Eva. I
think Jack loves you."
Eva's heart skipped a beat. She felt a strange flutter
inside her, an unfamiliar warmth that made her pause. Could
Lilly be right? She found herself lost in thought, replaying
every interaction with Jack, every lingering gaze, every subtle
moment of care. Was it possible that what she was feeling was
more than just admiration?
As she sat there, contemplating her emotions, she
couldn't shake off the feeling that something was indeed
changing between her and Jack—something deeper,
something undeniable.
Meanwhile, Lilly decided to go to the vegetable store to
buy some food items for dinner. Before leaving, she told Eva
to rest and take it easy. At the store, Lilly browsed through the
shelves, picking out fresh vegetables. She reached for a packet
from the top shelf but miscalculated, and it nearly fell towards
her face. Just as she braced herself, a man swiftly caught it
before it could hit her.
"Oh, thank you!" Lilly said, looking up at her unexpected
rescuer. He smiled warmly before nodding and continuing his
shopping.
Lilly found herself staring after him. He was handsome,
with an easygoing charm, and the way he interacted with a child in the store melted her heart. He was playful yet caring,
and she couldn't help but feel a sudden crush on him.
Back at Eva's place, an unexpected visitor arrived—Jack.
Eva looked at him in surprise. "Jack? What are you doing
here? You skipped work for me?"
Jack leaned casually against the doorway, his lips curling
into a small smile. "I was in the area, so I thought I'd check in
on you. How's your ankle?" He stepped closer, gently taking
her hand to check her condition. His touch was warm, sending
a subtle shiver down Eva's spine.
Eva's heart raced at his closeness. "It's much better
now," she said softly, feeling the weight of his gaze on her.
Jack's fingers lingered just a moment longer before he
pulled away. "Did you eat your lunch?" he asked, his voice
laced with care.
Eva shook her head. "Not yet."
Jack glanced around. "Is there anything to eat?"
Eva thought for a moment. "There are some vegetables,
eggs, and other stuff in the fridge."
Jack's face lit up with a playful smirk. "That's great! I'll
cook for you."
Eva blinked in surprise. "What? No, Jack, that's not
necessary. I can manage."Jack raised an eyebrow. "Oh, come on. You need to rest,
and I can handle a simple meal. Trust me."
Eva hesitated before finally relenting with a small smile.
"Alright, but don't blame me if it turns out inedible."
Jack chuckled. "Have some faith in me."
He rolled up his sleeves and got to work in the kitchen.
As he chopped vegetables and whisked eggs, Eva leaned
against the counter, watching him with growing amusement.
"You seem pretty comfortable in the kitchen," she
remarked.
Jack shot her a wink. "Surprised? I do know my way
around a stove. Cooking can be kind of relaxing."
Eva laughed softly. "I never expected this side of you."
As Jack stirred the ingredients, Eva reached over to grab
a spoon, their hands brushing lightly. A sudden jolt of warmth
spread between them. Jack looked up, their eyes meeting in a
moment of quiet intimacy.
Eva quickly looked away, her cheeks flushed. Jack
smirked but said nothing, continuing to cook as if nothing had
happened, though the air between them felt undeniably
charged.
Soon, the meal was ready. Eva took a deep breath,
inhaling the delicious aroma. "Wow, this actually looks really
good."
Jack feigned offense. "Actually? You doubted me?"Eva giggled. "A little."
She picked up her phone and called Lilly. "Lilly, Jack is
here, and he cooked lunch for us. You should come join us."
Lilly's voice came through the line, sounding slightly
rushed. "I'd love to, but something urgent came up, so I won't
be able to make it. You two go ahead and eat without me."
Eva frowned slightly. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, yes. Enjoy your lunch," Lilly insisted before
hanging up.
Jack, who had been listening, gave a knowing smile. "I
think Lilly just gave us some space on purpose."
Eva shook her head with a small laugh. "She can be like
that."
Meanwhile, Lilly entered a small hotel for lunch. The
waiter approached her and said, "Miss, there's only one seat
left. You'll have to share a table."
Lilly sighed. "Alright, where is it?"
The waiter pointed toward a table, and to Lilly's
surprise, it was opposite the man she had met at the store.
Suddenly, she remembered that the guy was a famous singer
she had seen before on TV. "Oh my god!" she exclaimed. "Why
didn't I remember him before?" The man looked up, recognizing her instantly. A slow
smile spread across his face. "Looks like fate is playing games
with us today."
Lilly felt a slight blush creep onto her cheeks as she sat
down. "It seems so."
The two exchanged glances, a spark of curiosity and
intrigue lingering between them as they shared a meal in
unexpected company.
