"Zeus' child?"
Shen You was momentarily unsure if he had heard correctly.
Zora held her stomach. "I was pretty shocked too. But that birdman was so convinced. He even said that they were coming to kill us—assassins, monsters, all sorts of things I could never have imagined, all under orders to eliminate us."
At first, it sounded absurd, but after thinking it through, Shen You started to believe it might actually be possible.
Greek mythology has always been a place where mortal ethics are stretched beyond normal limits. At least nine out of ten myths involve content not suitable for children. DC Comics, with a commitment to respecting the source material, kept the wild nature of the Greek gods intact in its adaptations. And Zeus, as the king of gods, took that wild nature to an extreme.
This guy is basically a self-propelled machine driven by his impulses. He hits on anything that moves—humans, gods, aliens—it doesn't matter. Sometimes, it doesn't even need to be humanoid. His repertoire is so vast and diverse that even the most bizarre enthusiasts today would pale in comparison. Psychologists would steer clear of this case.
If Shen You remembered correctly, Zeus does have a habit of sneaking out to have fun every now and then. He was known for using magic to transform himself into various appearances and identities to approach girls from different walks of life, personalities, and species. Then, after a wild night, he would often disappear without a trace the next day.
A master of his craft, so skilled that even Arthur would have to give him props, admitting, "You're the true Sea King; this throne is rightfully yours."
Realizing this, Shen You asked, "So you now believe what the birdman said? Did you really meet Zeus?"
"Maybe," Zora replied.
"So, who do you think Zeus is? What does he look like?"
"Um, I think he might have been a truck driver."
Shen You was surprised. "A truck driver?"
He expected something more like a dashing, extravagant young lord.
Could it be that this is the real high-level player, not following any conventional playbook?
"Yeah, but he did look very strong, and his shooting skills were really impressive…"
Shen You: "?"
"But then again, it might have been the guy playing pool." Zora scratched her head, pondering. "He was really handsome. I even bought him a shot of whiskey, and then we talked until we ended up at a hotel…"
Shen You: "??"
"Oh, and it might have been that guy in the band," Zora continued, deep in thought. "He sings really well, and I love his voice... But no, that doesn't feel right. He was kind of small, and... too fast."
Shen You: "???"
Suddenly, Shen You realized there might be a reason why this girl ended up meeting Zeus.
City folks sure know how to have fun.
"Ah, I remember now." Zora frowned. "That birdman also said I wasn't safe anywhere. The assassins wouldn't stop, and this person would hunt me down to the ends of the earth. Unless... unless there was only one place... I think the word he used was something like 'Themys... Themyscira' or something."
"Themyscira?" Shen You suggested.
"Yes, that's the name!" Zora said excitedly. "So, this place is real? You know where it is?"
"Well, you're in luck..."
Shen You had only recently obtained the exact coordinates for Themyscira. Otherwise, an ordinary person would never be able to set foot on that mythical island.
He had been considering finding an excuse to visit Themyscira since he got the coordinates. While it wasn't out of the question to use force, the warriors of light don't bully the weak—they generally prefer to reason things out. Like the famous theory proposed by Senior Ultraman Goss, the Ultra clan always approaches situations with friendly negotiations first. Only when talks break down do they consider immediate cremation.
Unexpectedly, this opportunity just fell right into his lap.
Themyscira may have a reputation for being isolationist, but they deeply respect the Greek pantheon of gods. After all, Themyscira was created by Zeus to shelter them, and the Amazons have a strong connection with Olympus.
So now, with Hermes' divine message and bringing Zeus' offspring to the island for refuge, this should be perfectly reasonable, right?
Returning to the present, Shen You saw Zora's expectant face, looking up at him like a hopeful puppy. Shen You smiled.
"Of course, I know. Let's go there right now."
His armored suit could handle long-distance flight, but Zora, being a mere mortal, would likely not survive being carried at several Mach speeds to Themyscira. She'd be dead before they even encountered any assassins.
But Shen You had already thought of a solution to this.
DC heroes each have their unique ways of rescuing people. For instance, Superman uses his biological force field to protect others while flying at supersonic speeds, and the Flash's Speed Force can extend to cover those he carries to prevent adverse effects from extreme speeds.
Inspired by them, Shen You developed a similar technique. Instead of a biological force field or Speed Force, he, being an Ultraman, would naturally use a light energy field.
By enveloping Zora, whom he carried in his arms, with a light energy field similar to the Green Lantern ring's energy shield, he could go all out without any worries, speeding straight to Themyscira.
As they neared the marked coordinates, they were still some distance away, but theoretically, Shen You should have been able to see Themyscira with his super vision by now.
Yet, looking out, the ocean was calm, with nothing in sight.
He tried switching through various vision modes, including using the sensors on his armor, but still, there was nothing.
It seemed the invisibility buff cast by the Greek gods was quite effective, and it was indeed difficult to detect by conventional means. Steve Trevor landing precisely on this island was truly a matter of fate—it was as if the heavens had predestined it. Hitting this island in the vast Pacific was like sniping a moving target from 500 miles away and getting a perfect headshot.
Suddenly, in an instant, the wind began to howl.
Without any warning, a storm erupted. The roaring wind whipped the sea into towering waves like mountains reaching toward the sky. The crashing waves hit the darkness like heavy war hammers. The giant waves, the rolling black clouds overhead, and the spray flying everywhere in the gale...
Just moments ago, the calm sea surface turned turbulent, heaving violently, the kind of curvature that would remind one of Kara's enhanced curves after she grew up.
That was the kind of curve that put the "big" in "big character traits."
Shen You hovered in mid-air, and through the towering storm and massive whirlpool, he saw a giant shadow slowly rising from beneath the ocean, opening its gaping maw in a show of intimidation toward the two of them.
"What... what's happening!?" Zora asked in terror.
"Don't be afraid," Shen You said calmly. "It's just a monster."
Zora: "?"
