Zach's familiars and Maura could only stare when Zach and Visla returned to the palace.
Visla was straddling Zach, but it couldn't be further from the loving one might see in such a pose. Just as her legs were wrapped over his waist, her fingers were wrapped around his throat.
She was not happy about being left in Haven for that long.
Yanael grabbed Visla by the neck and hoisted her into the air. She could understand her, but that didn't forgive her assault on Zach.
"S-sorry, Visla." Zach coughed and tried to clear his throat as he sat up and leaned against the wall.
Visla struggled in Yanael's grip like a rabid cat, fully in tune with her badger spirit.
"Sorry won't cut it! I need—"
"You can take as much as you want from the vault."
Visla calmed down at once.
"You can't take that back. Everyone here heard it."
"I'm not going to take it back."
"And you're not going to leave me there again?"
"Never."
