Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: My system lets go

Kai stared blankly at the holographic interface, his mind reeling. The stark reality of his existence crashed down upon him with the force of a tidal wave. No talent. A mortal cultivator. In a world where strength was the ultimate currency, he was essentially bankrupt.

A snicker echoed in his mind, and a holographic notification popped up, confirming his worst fears:

System Activated: Basic Information Displayed

Name: Kai

Talent: Mortal (You have no talent. Waste of space.)

Cultivation Base: None (Better start practicing if you want to live, you pathetic mortal.)

Cultivation Technique: None (You don't even deserve a basic technique. Loser.)

Kai's face contorted into a scowl. The system's taunting voice was like a relentless thorn in his side. "Shut up," he muttered, his voice barely audible. But the system, seemingly relishing his discomfort, pressed on.

"Oh, come on, don't be so sensitive. It's just the truth. You're basically a walking, talking, mortal disaster," the system replied, its tone dripping with sarcasm.

Kai clenched his fists. He was starting to regret activating this thing. But then, he remembered the countless hours spent reading cultivation novels. If anyone could overcome this predicament, it was him.

"Well, system," he said through gritted teeth, "let's see what you can do. Give me all the information you have about cultivation."

The system paused, as if considering its next move. Then, with a smug tone, it replied, "Cultivation, huh? You think you're hot stuff, don't you? Well, let me enlighten you, mortal. Cultivation is the process of absorbing spiritual energy from the world and refining it within your body. It's a long, arduous journey that requires talent, dedication, and a whole lot of luck. But since you're lacking in the first two, let's see how far luck can carry you, shall we?"

Sounds great! Let's add some more spice to the interaction between Kai and the system.

Here's a possible scene:

Kai sat cross-legged on the forest floor, his hands hovering above a small, pulsating orb. This was his first attempt at cultivating spiritual energy. He focused intently, trying to draw the invisible energy into his body. Hours passed, but nothing happened.

System: Still trying? You're worse than a newborn trying to walk. Maybe you should give up and become a beggar.

Kai's face twitched. Stupid system. Despite the system's taunts, he persisted. Suddenly, a surge of energy flowed into his body. He felt a warm sensation spreading through his limbs.

System: Well, would you look at that. The blind squirrel found a nut. Congratulations, you've broken through to the first layer of the Body Refinement realm. A momentous occasion, I'm sure.

Kai couldn't help but grin. Master system!

System: Don't get too cocky. There are countless layers to this realm, and you're still at the bottom of the food chain. But hey, at least you're not a complete failure.

Kai rolled his eyes. This system…

A few days later, while practicing a basic cultivation technique, Kai felt a sharp pain in his chest. He doubled over, gasping for air.

System: Oh, look, you've damaged your meridians. Serves you right for trying to rush things. You should have listened to me when I said you were a failure.

Kai gritted his teeth. Shut up!

System: Fine, fine. Here's a healing pill. But don't expect me to be your personal nurse.

As Kai took the pill, the system added, "Oh, and by the way, that pain you felt? It was a sign that your body wasn't ready for that technique yet. You should have checked the cultivation manual first. But hey, who needs to read when you can just dive headfirst into trouble, right?"
