Chapter 410: Lin Yuanxin Is Actually An Zhenxiong
Shen Mo looked at Lin Yuanxin.
Sure enough—
The man's life profile revealed a completely different identity.
[Name: An Zhenxiong.]
[Realm: Peak Demon Venerable.]
[Fate Traits: Descendant of the Sixth Grand Demon, True Demon Bloodline, Exceptionally Fortunate, Born Assassin, Deep and Firm, Killing by Proxy, Thousand-Form Body.]
[Destiny: Has been lurking within the Xuanwu Fortress for decades. Will coordinate with the demon race from within, delivering a devastating blow to the fortress.
Later ascends to the Demon Emperor Realm. After receiving blood infusions from five Grand Demons, his bloodline transforms and he becomes the Eleventh Grand Demon.]
Shen Mo carefully examined the fate traits.
[Descendant of the Sixth Grand Demon: Red Trait. You are the descendant of the Sixth Grand Demon, holding an exalted status. However, your physique is weak and you've never been favored. You long to earn merit and recognition.]
[True Demon Bloodline: Purple Trait. You are a true demon, capable of cultivating techniques exclusive to true demons, and can easily command countless lesser demons.]
[Exceptionally Fortunate: Purple Trait. Your luck is remarkably good. You've lurked in the Xuanwu Fortress for decades, rarely discovered. Even if discovered, you usually detect your enemies first and eliminate them.]
[Born Assassin: Purple Trait. You excel in the arts of stealth and assassination. You're a natural killer.]
[Deep and Firm: Red Trait. You hide your true nature and possess inner strength. Your thoughts rarely show on your face.]
[Killing by Proxy: Purple Trait. You are adept at leveraging others to kill enemies, whether they be demons or humans.]
[Thousand-Form Body: Purple Trait. Top-tier Earth-level physique. Among the descendants of the Grand Demons, your talent is not exceptional, but your body is uniquely suited for cultivating the Thousand Faces Morphing Technique.]
After reading through, Shen Mo fell into thought.
He didn't read the life profile of every single person—doing so would be far too tedious and draining.
But now, he had the answer.
Lin Yuanxin was An Zhenxiong.
The real Lin Yuanxin was likely long dead.
The current Lin Yuanxin was nothing more than a true demon wearing a human skin.
Demons disliked human food, nor did they follow the human routine of working by day and resting at night.
It was hard to imagine how An Zhenxiong had managed to suppress his true nature and survive among so many humans for so long.
"But now that I know his true identity, things are much easier."
"Moreover, according to the predetermined fate, An Zhenxiong will cause massive internal destruction to the Xuanwu Fortress, indirectly resulting in heavy Demon Suppressor casualties."
"In the future, he'll even receive the Grand Demon bloodline and become the Eleventh Grand Demon."
"If I expose his identity now, it'll cause tremendous shifts in the future."
"Then how much military merit would I earn?"
"Would it be the merit for killing a Peak Demon Venerable, or the merit for saving half the Xuanwu Fortress?"
A flicker of delight rose in Shen Mo's heart.
He had a hunch—he was about to receive an astronomical reward in military merit!
Shen Mo didn't hesitate. He didn't waste a single moment. That same night, he left Zhong Baisheng's barracks and headed into the Xuanwu Fortress.
The Demon Suppression General Zhang Longxiang didn't reside in a tent outside the fortress like the others. He lived within the fortress itself.
He was like a stabilizing pillar.
As long as he was present, the Xuanwu Fortress stood tall like a mountain, shielding the towns and people behind it.
Shen Mo had no intention of reporting the list through the usual chain of command.
That would only split the military merit with others.
Besides, if any link in the chain were to fail, the people on the list might catch wind of it and escape.
That wouldn't matter for the others—
But An Zhenxiong was extremely cautious. If he fled, the military merit Shen Mo would lose would be immeasurable.
And so, Shen Mo decided to report directly to Zhang Longxiang.
Of course, for someone like him—a mere Yellow-rank Demon Suppressor—wanting to meet the Demon Suppression General of the Xuanwu Fortress directly wasn't just difficult, it was practically a fantasy.
If he tried to force his way in, the outcome would be even worse.
He'd be lucky not to be chopped into paste by Zhang Longxiang's guards.
Shen Mo wasn't foolish to that extent.
After walking a short distance, he arrived at a solitary tower.
The tower stood over a hundred zhang tall and served as Zhang Longxiang's usual residence.
At the very top of the tower was the core of a Heaven-rank formation: the "Eightfold Vajra Demon-Slaying Array."
The Eightfold Vajra Demon-Slaying Array could cover the entire Xuanwu Fortress.
Whenever the demons launched an overwhelmingly fierce assault, Zhang Longxiang would consume supreme-grade spirit stones to activate this array.
Because of this, the tower was designated as the number one forbidden zone of the Xuanwu Fortress.
In the entire fortress, only Zhang Longxiang and a few of his most trusted subordinates were allowed to enter.
At the tower's entrance, two burly Demon Suppressors stood guard.
Beside each guard was a large wooden box.
The box on the left was for "Fortress Proposals."
Any Demon Suppressor could drop suggestions into it, offering strategies and ideas for the future development of the fortress or nearby cities.
As long as a suggestion was deemed feasible, approved by ten commanding officers, and received Zhang Longxiang's nod, it would be implemented.
The box on the right was for "Demon Informants."
Over time, the demons' methods of parasitizing Demon Suppressors and deceiving formations had become increasingly insidious and hard to detect.
While there seemed to be no issues on the surface, it was likely that a number of Demon Suppressors within the fortress had already been parasitized in secret.
Eventually, those parasitized would always slip up.
Perhaps they'd let something slip in conversation that revealed their reverence for the demon race.
Or maybe they'd start slacking off during missions to kill demons.
That's when Demon Suppressors needed to report each other.
Of course, all of these anonymous letters would be thoroughly reviewed and confirmed to rule out malicious submissions.
Some Demon Suppressors, driven by jealousy, might try to harm others through false accusations.
Both of these wooden boxes were personally established by Zhang Longxiang.
They'd functioned smoothly for centuries.
Many constructive ideas for the fortress and cities, and many parasitized Demon Suppressors, had been uncovered through anonymous letters placed in these boxes.
Shen Mo's target was the "Demon Informants" box.
He placed a thick letter through the slot at the top.
This letter meticulously listed the crimes committed by the Demon-Slaying Society, the names of the Demon Suppressors who had been parasitized, and the wicked deeds they'd committed in secret.
Most important of all was An Zhenxiong—the one disguised as Lin Yuanxin.
Shen Mo had taken extra care in writing out every detail of this demon's situation.
After completing this, he turned and walked away in large strides.
"A pity. If I could personally capture An Zhenxiong and the Demon-Slaying Society members, the military merit I'd gain would surely be even greater."
"But a Peak Demon Venerable who's highly skilled in stealth and assassination, with maxed-out alertness—there's no way I could take him down. Better to leave that to Zhang Longxiang."
"Though I'll earn a bit less merit this way, at least it's safe."
With that thought in mind, Shen Mo returned to his tent and resumed cultivating calmly, just like on any ordinary day.
Two hours later, Zhong Baisheng retrieved all the letters from the box and climbed the tower, placing them on a desk.
Behind the towering stack of documents sat a lean, rugged middle-aged man.
His appearance was nothing special—he even looked like a farmer.
This was none other than the Demon Suppression General of the Xuanwu Fortress, Zhang Longxiang!
