"I won't marry Rachel."
Rowen's voice echoed through the entire living room as everyone looked shocked and taken aback.
Turning around, Vanessa faced him, also surprised by his words but her expression remaining stiff.
Facing Tara, Rowen said once more, "If marrying Rachel would make little Tara want to run away, then Papa won't marry her anymore, okay?"
Hearing his words, Tara nodded happily, while Catherine and Rachel's faces immediately turned tragic as catherine stepped forward.
"W-what do you mean, Rowen? You can't just call off the engagement all of a sudden. That's impossible!" Catherine voiced, obviously not happy with Rowen's decision, but he could care less.
Just then, Vanessa walked toward him, taking Tara from him as she placed her on the ground. Bending down to the girl's height, Vanessa asked, "Tara, do you love and care about Papa?"
Tara nodded softly.
