Briar smiled wryly as she read those messages. Her eyes sting with tears but she couldn't shed them no matter what. As much as it pained her, this needed to be done. Only then would it be meaningful, despite the pain that was piercing her heart right now.
That was the sad fate she couldn't escape from the unfortunate day over twelve years ago.
She deleted the chat and locked her phone before closing her eyes for a nap. It was going to be a long day.
When she woke up, over an hour later, she found the car driving into the mall's parking lot. She wiped her face and drank water to soften her throat.
